Chapter seven

Sorry for the wait. I've been a little busy. It's a short chapter but here's chapter seven. Enjoy!!!

.//.

She stood in the throne room facing the King and Queen for punishment.

She looked at Prince Alexander standing to his father's left, emotion shining in his eyes lined with dark circles.

She began to feel upset with herself again. He had told her that he could not sleep properly anymore.

She knew the reason.

He needed his mate by his side.

She looked at the monarchs who returned her gaze confused as to why their seemingly non-emotional knowledge keeper was charged with disrupting the city.

How did she get here?

Well, it all began when she foolishly allowed Evangeline into her classes.

"...but I saw these shoes at the store owned by Ma Tessa. They were prettier than the ones at the mall but I would not be caught dead shopping from that old lady. What do you think, Alex?" Eva said, trying to reach across the table to the prince.

Camila had separated them but that did nothing to hinder her sister's determination.

"Shut up, Eva," the prince said, not looking up from his book.

Eva looked taken aback for a second before she smiled coyly.

"We'll talk about it later then."

Camila rubbed her bare feet on the prince's under the wooden table.  Their feet had been together anytime they were sitting for the past few days.

The steady sparks calmed her.

A small smile played on his lips.

"You know, I heard of this party that the future heirs of their respective packs and kingdoms are hosting. We should go, excluding Camila, of course..."

"No," the prince said, the same time, future Beta James said, "Shut up."

Eva huffed and then looked at the book open in front of her before turning to James.

"Can you at least tell me what you are reading then, Alex?"

"The effect of Western human civilization on shifters," he replied monotonously.

"Really? Can you teach me?" She said leaning across the table.

Liar. Eva was a straight-A student in high school.

As her chair moved backward, Camila kicked it and Eva slumped in it forcefully. James snorted and buried his head deeper in the book as Eva glared at him.

"Watch it," she spat at Camila.

"Sorry. My foot slipped," Camila said in obvious sarcasm. Now, the prince snorted.

Nice one, Mila, he said in mind link.

"Aren't we there yet?" Eva whined.

"If we were, we would not still be walking now, would we?" James sighed.

Eva ignored him.

"Alexxxx, can you carry me?" she continued, leaning closer to the prince.

"No one told you to wear five-inch stilettos for a geographical trip into the forest," Alex said, walking faster to Camila's side.

When are you going to get her out, princess? My patience and understanding of your plan is wearing thin.

Hers was too.

Half an hour ago

"Camila, I need a break," the prince said suddenly.

James looked up at him like 'Do you have a death wish, boy?'

"How long?" Camila asked.

"I know you might feel like I can go on but...wait, what?"

"How long do you need?" Camila repeated. She could admit, she was working him harder than she was sure he was used to.

"How long can I push it?" the prince asked, skeptical.

"Three days and a half"

"Three? Man, that sounds like a vacation right now," James said, leaning back on his chair and closing his eyes.

"Tell me about it. I'm so stressed," the prince copied his best friend's actions.

"I do have a way to relieve you," Eva, now sitting beside the prince, said, trailing her hand up his pants. Camila stilled.

Everyone in the room definitely understood what Eva meant.

Something began to claw in her chest. Her hands began to vibrate.

Anger.

Pure, unadulterated, violent anger.

The prince noticed first and began to approach her slowly, whispering calming words into her mind but she paid no heed.

James shivered, muttering about the sudden drop in temperature before seeing her current state and beginning to back away slowly.

Her sole focus was on her disrespectful little relative, trailing her claws on her mate.

"Evangeline, get out," Camila growled lowly.

Eva looked at her and smirked.

"And why should I listen to you?"

"GET. OUT," Camila repeated, a little louder.

"Eva, I think you should listen. She looks like she can rip us into shreds," James said from across the room.

"Yeah right. She doesn't even have a wolf. Alex honey, where were we?" she said turning to the prince at Camila's side, trying to restrain her.

At this, Camila leaped across the table, grabbed her sister by her hair, and threw her to the door, making sure not to damage any books.

"You b*tch. How dare you?" Eva yelled, trying to get up.

Camila remained silent, opened the archive doors, picked her up by her hair, and threw her to the gate. At her actions, the animals on the grounds slinked back into their homes to watch from the shadows.

She opened the main gates and threw her to the streets.

Deciding to pity Eva's bruised body, Camila left her on the floor to return inside.

As she fought against her want to let Eva leave unscathed, she heard her sister move to attack from behind.

Stupid girl.

When Camila turned back in time and landed a solid punch to her sister's face, all hell broke loose.

...

A woman on a mission.

That was what Camila was.

She wanted to cause Eva as much pain as she could before the peace warriors came to break them apart.

She heard the crack of another broken rib.

Good.

The thunder of the warriors' boots sounded as she stepped on Eva's wrist with so much force that the bones nearly shattered.

When they held up their guns at her, only then did she register the crowd watching with morbid fascination.

"Put your hands up, Camila?" the warrior, Carlos in front of her said in confusion.

She stared at him blankly.

"Well, we'll have to take you in. The King asked us to send you up," Carlos said apologetically.

Present time

"Camila, you never lose your cool. What happened?" the queen asked concerned.

"Evangeline was..." Camila started but the queen held up a hand, signaling her to stop.

"Enough of that. Something else is going on," the queen said, staring at her intently.

She had the urge to shift from foot to foot. She felt like a child caught with their hand in seven cookie jars.

She looked at Alex and saw a pained expression on his face.

He wanted to help her but could not without seeming too concerned.

She was putting him through emotional turmoil.

She wanted to remedy that.

If he was willing to try and be with her despite all she had said and done to keep them apart, maybe she would give him this one thing he wanted.

"Eva was flirting with the prince," Camila said.

"And why would this cause you to..." the king started but she interrupted.

"The prince is my mate"
