MoMo
(I didn't mean to post a chapter yesterday. I latterly thought it was Sunday yesterday but it's fine. I wasn't going to post this chapter today but I decided against it. I hope you all are enjoying reading what I am writing so far. 😁)
Fae POV
What am I doing?! I can’t believe I agreed to this! I was happy, nervous, excited, and scared all at once. I could see Katakuri’s ship and I could hear a bunch of men welcoming Katakuri back. If I want to turn around now, this could be my only chance to turn back but truth be told. I didn’t want to go back.
I was walking behind Katakuri practically hiding behind him. I knew that they haven’t spotted me yet. I hurried and grabbed the back of his vest in a panic trying to slow him down and the moment I pulled on his black vest he stopped and turned his head towards me looking down at me with concern.
“Don’t worry they will not go near you or harm you, I promise.” Katakuri said reassuring me.
I shook my head side to side. “I know you’ll keep me safe. I’m just—I-I never been around a bunch of people or been on a ship, I’m just really nervous.” I said feeling the heat rising in my cheeks.
He used his body to block the others from seeing me. “It’s okay, we can stand here for as long as you want us to.” He said kindly and I nodded my head in agreement. I took a few deep breaths calming my nerves. “Okay, I think I’m really.” I said after a few minutes wrapping my hand around his large hand.
“Is this okay?” I asked and he looked down at me beaming with happiness. I couldn’t see his mouth but I could tell he was smiling through his warm bright eyes. He nodded his head and we started walking side by side.
His men spotted me right away and they all stopped in there tracks gawking at me. Most of them had pink hearts in their eyes and others stared in shock at Katakuri and my hands locked together.
I could feel a small amount of rage leaving Katakuri’s body in ripples when his men were shouting and cheering in a lustful manner.
“Captain Katakuri, who is the hot babe?!” One man yelled with big bright pink hearts bulging out of his eyes. A couple of them whistled and some had drool seeping out of their mouth’s. My hand tightened around Katakuri’s and I didn’t notice this was making him even more angry when he realized I was feeling uncomfortable.
I could feel the rage coming off of Katakuri in massive waves and before I knew it a blast of raging energy flew in every direction causing his men to go dead silent in fear.
He seemed so angry, I wanted to calm him down and for some odd reason I knew that if I sent small portions of calmness through my body to his, he would receive it through my touch. I don’t know how I knew I could do this but I knew I could.
After a few seconds his shoulders relaxed and his anger seemed to simmer down. “It’s okay.” I said softly and he held my hand a little to tight but I didn’t complain. We continued walking until we reached his ship. Everyone was on edge, almost as if they were holding their breath when we set foot on to the boat.
“This is Fae. You treat her like you would treat any other Charlotte sibling.” Katakuri said in a commanding voice that echoed all over the ship.
I waved at them bashfully, “Hello.” I said shyly and they all blushed with pink hearts in there eyes once again. Katakuri shot them a deadly glare and they all cast their eyes down in a hurry.
“Set course to home.”
“Aye, aye captain!” They all yelled at once running around the ship. Katakuri pulled me even closer to him, “stay close to me.” He whispered as he led me down a small path with a bunch of large doors and we stopped in front of a big brown large door that said Katakuri’s name in big bold white letters.
He opened the door and gently guided me into the room shutting door behind him. The room was bright and colorful. In the center was a extremely large bed in silk navy blue sheets and a dozen large navy blue pillows in all different shapes and sizes. On the right side of the room was a large navy blue sofa and behind it were built in shelves full of old an new books. On the left side was a large elegant dinning table with a chestnut wooden door behind it.
I went to the book selves running my fingers over the books. “You have a nice collection.”
“I take it, you like to read?” I nodded my head pulling a familiar book out. I smiled when I read the title, “I love this book! I read it like over a dozen times!” I flipped through the pages, smiling.
He seemed pleased, “you have good taste. It’s a good book.” He said moving to stand next to me, pulling out an old dirty beat-up red book that has probably seen better days. “But this book, is an amazing book.” I knew he was smirking behind his scarf. “I’ll take your word for it.” I said smirking back at him putting both books back on the shelf.
“Well, welcome to my room. You can have my bed and I’ll take the sofa.” He said plopping himself on the couch.
“No, no I can’t let you do that.” I said shacking my head side to side. “Can’t I just stay in other room?”
His eyes were unreadable at the moment as he stayed quiet for a while. “You can stay in this room. If it makes you feel uncomfortable for me to stay in the same room as you, I can leave.” He said unemotionally standing up heading to the door.
I reached out and grabbed his arm in a hurry, “don’t-don’t leave me, please.” I whispered holding his arm tight. “I do feel comfortable with you, I just don’t want you giving up your bed for me, so please stay.” I pleaded clinging to his arm.
He was silent for a few seconds before he nodded his head, “I’ll stay but you have to agree to sleep in my bed. I refuse to allow you to sleep on the sofa.” Katakuri said in a firm voice.
I nodded my head, “we could share the bed. It’s big enough for the both of us.” I said smiling up at Katakuri who seemed to be frozen.
I tilted my head to the side in confusion, “are you okay, Katakuri?” Before he could answer I heard a soft knock on the door. “Captain Katakuri, your dinner is really.” A man with an accent said.
Katakuri lightly pulled me behind him. “You may come in,” and with in seconds a dozen men in chef outfits came in setting up the table with all different beautiful elegant desserts. After setting up everything they left one by one leaving only a short old man with a short white beard.
“I hope you enjoy your dinner Captain Katakuri, please inform me if there is anything else you would like.” He said bowing nervously. Katakuri nodded his head and the old man left in a hurry.
I looked at the table of desserts with astonishment, “wow, they all look so amazing!” I said with enthusiasm. I sat down in one of the chairs but Katakuri didn’t join me.
I glanced over at him, “aren’t you going to eat with me?”
“No, I eat alone. Help yourself to whatever you like.” He said kindly sitting back down on the sofa.
“That’s so sad. No one should ever eat alone.” I said feeling little heart broken at his statement. I pick up a spoon and bowl of vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate chips and caramel sauce. I walked over to where he was sitting.
“We can share.” I said sitting down beside him. I scooped a spoon full of ice cream and brought it close to him where his mouth should be but he didn’t remove his scarf.
I giggled, “you have to remove your scarf to eat silly.” I said smiling lightly but he didn’t move to remove his scarf. When I looked up at his eyes I could see a flicker of sadness flash in his crimson eyes.
“What’s wrong?” I asked putting the spoon down in the bowl.
“I don’t eat in front of others. Ever.” He said trying to hide his sorrow in his voice.
“You can eat in front of me if you like, there’s no need to be shy-"
“I said no!” Katakuri yelled in deep dooming voice. I flinched back dropping my bowl on the ground and it shattered into small pieces.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell. . I just can’t eat in front of you.” He said apologetically refusing to look at me.
Is he a shy eater? It doesn’t matter. I shouldn’t push him if he doesn’t like eating in front of others and I need to respect that.
“Did I scare you?”
“What? No, I was pushing you and I shouldn’t have done that, I’m sorry.” I said seriously cleaning the mess I made.
“No, let me get someone to clean that up.” He said reaching for my hands.
“No, it’s okay I made this mess I can clean it.” I said pulling my hand up to stop him. I gave him a soft smile to reassure him I was fine.
“I’m sorry, I just don’t want to scare you away.” He said with so much sadness, that it shattered my heart.
“Hey, your not going to scare me away. Trust me, I have been yelled at many times by Leon.” I said giggling trying to lighten up the mood.
“That’s not what I meant,” he whispered. I tilted my head to the side, “Then what do you mean?” I asked curiously.
“I don’t want you to think of me as a monster if you were ever to see my whole face.” He said insecurely.
Katakuri must have went through something terrible to be scared to show people who he really is. I wish I could steal all his pain and insecurities away from him.
“Well, I wont push you but I will say this much. I for one like you, for you, not for your looks or anything else just you.” I said inching towards him slowly.
“If I’m being totally honest though, I think your uniquely beautiful inside and out.” I boldly stated blushing uncontrollably when I realized what I said. He seemed just as surprised as I was.
The sorrow slowly vanished and his beautiful eyes soften. “You promise not to scream or run away?”
“I will say it again, I’m not running from you.” I whispered slowly reaching my hand towards his scarf and he caught my hand in midair inches away from his face.
I stared into his eyes that darkened dangerously but I refused to back down. After a few minutes of us having a glaring contest, he finally back down allowing me to unravel his scarf. He closed his eyes tight and his body tensed up but the moment I finished unraveling his scarf, I couldn’t find anything wrong.
His mouth was beautiful, he had beautiful sharp white fangs with two symmetrical scars running from his cheeks all the way down connecting to his mouth. I couldn’t help but brush my fingers across his teeth. His eyes shot open and he flinched away from my hand in a panic.
“I’m sorry, I should have asked if I could touch you.” But again I couldn’t help but stretch my hand out to touch his face. It was almost as if I were a magnet being drawn to another powerful magnet.
“May I?” I asked trying to touch his face again before he gave me permission to.
“Wait. . This doesn’t scare you?” He asked hesitantly gesturing to his mouth.
“No, what’s wrong with your mouth? Your beautiful.” I boldly stated once again.
I moved a little closer and he moved away. Little by little we continued this until his back was pressing against the edge of the sofa. I got on to my knees so I could be the same height as him but he still was a good foot or two taller then me. My fingers softly touched his scars as I slowly ran my fingers all the way down to his teeth once again and I could feel myself leaning in without realizing it until my mouth was inches from his.
He slowly lean down and I could feel his breath on my lips and my heart was fluttering out of control. I was frozen in place when his soft lips lightly brushed against mine. A loud knock on the door made us both jump pulling us out of the little trance we were in.
His eyes sharpened dangerously and a low growl slipped from his lips. He got up wrapping his scarf around his face forcing the door open. I felt a little sorry for who ever stood behind that door because I could sense the blood lust oozing off of him.
“I’m-I’m sorry for disturbing you Captain Katakuri but a-a sea king is refusing to allow us to move any further. I never seen anything like it Captain.” He said stuttering in fear.
“Is it attacking the ship?” Katakuri asked in a threatening manner.
The young pirate gulped in fear, “N-no, Captain.”
“Then why are you de-"
“Wait! You said a sea king right? Does it have dragon like features? Does he have red scales with a yellow belly?” I asked seriously running to the door.
“Uh, y-yes ma’am.” I ran out the room past Katakuri and the pirate at the door.
It’s MoMo he knows I’m on the ship!
“Get the cannons ready!” I heard a man yell in the distances and I heard MoMo roaring in rage.
“No! Don’t hurt him!” I yelled running past all of them to the front of the ship using my body as a shield to protect MoMo.
“Please, don’t hurt him!” I screamed but they all looked at me like I was nuts.
“Miss! You need to come back over here! That sea monster is dangerous!” They were all shouting and screaming at me to move.
“Alright men, protect the girl! Get ready to fire!”
“No!” I turned to MoMo who spotted me. His large yellow glowing eyes beamed down at me with joy. He leaned his massive head towards me.
“MoMo!” I stretched my arms out wide laying my body on his head. “Don’t worry, they are not forcing me to leave. I’m okay, I promise.” I whispered to him patting his head as he rumbled.
I turned my head around to see everyone with disbelief written on their faces, half of them had their jaws practically touching the floor. “She is friends-" One man said.
“With a sea king.” Another man finished his sentence for him. Katakuri didn’t seem so surprised when my eyes finally found him. Well, we did have that argument about sea king’s when we first met. I waved at him, “come meet MoMo, Katakuri!” I said smiling happily.
I could hear MoMo growling when Katakuri came to my side. “MoMo be nice, he's my friend.” I said rubbing his head. He stop growling but he bared his sharp teeth at Katakuri letting him know he disapproved of Katakuri being near me.
“You can speak to him?” Katakuri asked me softly, carefully examining MoMo's movements.
“Can’t you? He’s speaking to you quite loudly. There’s no way you can’t understand what he is saying even if he’s not using words.”
“I can’t hear anything but I can tell he doesn’t like me.”
“MoMo says it because your not listening to him. You hear what you want to hear just like you see what you want to see.” Katakuri shot MoMo an icy glare.
“MoMo also says anyone can speak to anything that’s alive as long as your willing to listen and I agree with him.” I said and I could feel MoMo practically spilling with happiness when I said I agreed with him.
“Can you do this with all sea kings?”
“Yes, but they all come and go except for MoMo, he always comes back to see me.” I said sweetly and MoMo large tail slowly wrapped around my waist. I carefully ran my hand down his cool red scales. I could feel him lifting me off my feet and slowly he lifted me into the air away from the ship.
“Fae!” I could hear the panic in Katakuri’s voice as he ran towards me to grab me.
“I’m fine! He does this all the time! He thinks you’re trying to take me away from him forever, just give me a few minutes! Let me talk to him!” I had to yell because I was about fifty feet above the ship.
I was face to face with MoMo who kept moaning in grief. He doesn’t want me to leave.
“MoMo, I’ll come back, I promise. I’ll only be gone for a little while. You know how much I’ve been wanting to leave and meet new people and see new things.” I said softly but he still was rumbling throwing a small tantrum.
“Okay how about this, if I don’t come back after a while. You can come find me. How about that?” I asked smiling combing my hair with my fingers but, he's not just worried about me being late coming back home. He’s worried that someone dangerous out there might hurt me.
“Don’t worry Katakuri will keep me safe.” Just mentioning Katakuri’s name made MoMo growl. I couldn’t help but giggle and after a few minutes of talking to him he finally put me back down on the ship and left. I waved yelling goodbye until I couldn’t see him anymore. When I turned around everyone was staring at me, even Katakuri was staring me with an odd look.
“What? Your acting like you never seen someone communicate with a sea king before.” I said feeling a little confused by there behavior. I figured not everyone can talk to them but I’m pretty sure there are some people who can. They shook there heads no which really surprised me.
“What are you all doing standing around! The sea king is gone, get the ship back on course!” Katakuri yelled and all his men started running around getting to work.
Katakuri guided me back to his room, “you need to eat. I’ll be back in a few minutes to join you, I just need to make sure my men are doing what they are suppose to.” Katakuri said seriously and I couldn’t help but smile with delight when he said he was going to join me for dinner.
“Okay, take your time and try not to be to hard on them and I promise not to eat everything.” I said giggling and hugging his leg. His eyes were warm as he nodded his head leaving the room.
I couldn’t help but drool over all the delicious desserts. “Now, where do I begin?”
