Chapter 24 - The Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix

~James POV~

"James!" Lily yelled from the end of the street. I turned at see her sprinting up the sidewalk to me, Marlene and Alice at her heels. She crashed into me, nearly knocking me over. I kissed her hard on the mouth, and she wrapped her arms around my neck.

"It's only been two weeks! Your acting like its been two years!" Sirius said. We pulled apart, and I hugged her tightly.

"I missed you," Lily breathed.

"I missed you way more. I only had Sirius to talk to!" I said. Sirius looked offended, and stalked off with Marlene at his side, Marlene laughing all the while. Alice and Remus followed them, too, a few paces behind.

"So where is this thing being held?" I asked, putting my arm around Lily. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a slip of paper, and read aloud the words written.

"Number 413, Strunger drive, London," Lily said. I nodded.

"I missed you," Lily said. "I was so bored at home. Petunia visited, and you know her - she was snooping in my business. And she came home around the time I got your letter, and she asked if the person who had sent the letter was my boyfriend," Lily said.

"And I said yes, but I hadn't told my Mum before, because I was sure that she would've told my dad about it, and I knew that my Dad would make a big deal out of it, and I didn't want that. And I broke a vase."

"Wait, why did you break a vase?"

"Because I still had to send the owl back with my letter, and they were still in the kitchen, so I broke a vase in the living room, and when they had gone to see what was going on, and I ran down to your owl and brought it back up to my room." Lily said proudly.

"Wow. You had a much more exciting few days than me." Lily laughed, and then stopped into front of a small house, which you could tell was very old. Marlene, Sirius, Alice, and Remus stood on Lily's other side, and walked up to the old house, and rang the door bell. It was a few seconds before someone opened the door.

A man stood in the door way, and I stepped back a little when I saw his face; it seemed to have been covered in scars and scratches, and a large chunk of his nose had been taken off. And the most surprising, was a great, big, electric blue eyes whizzed around in its socket, while the other eye stared us down.

His wand pointed from the door way at us, his normal eye narrowed.

"State your name and presence," The Man grunted.

"Um - James Potter, for the - the Order meeting. And this is Lily Evans, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Marlene McKinnon, and Alice Prewett. All for the Order meeting." I said. the Man closed the door, and I heard a clunk, clunk, clunk, from inside. A minute later, the door opened wide to reveal Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts. Dumbledore smiled at us, eyes twinkling.

"Come in," Dumbledore said, stepping back. The six of us walked in quickly, looking around the house. It looked nothing like the outside. The house had great, tall walls, and was wider than the outside of the house. On the other side of the room was a door, on the left side a staircase and long hallways. In the room they were in now, there was a long couch, two puffy arm chairs, a fireplace, a small mantel with unique figurines on it.

"Woah," I muttered.

"Welcome," Dumbledore said. "To the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix."

"Where will we have the meetings?" Alice asked, picking up one of the figurines from the mantel and examining it.

"In the room over there," Dumbledore said, pointing to the door on the other side of room. "And might I ask, where is your friend, Mr. Pettigrew?"

"He said he'd be here, he was staying with his Grandmother for the summer holiday." I explained. Dumbledore nodded.

"You all can stay here until the meeting starts." Dumbledore left the room into the other room.

"This place kind of looks like my old house," Sirius said, looking around the room.

"Really?" I asked, having never been to his house before, him always coming to my house over the summer.

"Yeah - the tall walls, the dark wallpaper. Except it was always very old and dusty. We had a house elf - I hated him."

"What's the house elf's name?" I asked.

"Kreacher - my Mother named him." Sirius laughed, shaking his head.

"Kreacher?" Sirius nodded.

~Lily POV~

More and more people came in, including Peter. We met a few new people, like Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, a pair of kind, loving parents of four children, Bill, Percy, and Fred and George, who were twins.

After about half an hour later, the meeting was called to order, and we all sat down at a long table in the, what I suspected, dining room. Me, Marlene and Alice sat next to Dorcas, who we hadn't seen much since we had left Hogwarts.
