Chapter 19 - The Sleepover

~Lily POV~

"I'm going to miss Hogwarts," Alice said. I was sitting next to James, my head on his shoulder, our backs to the forest. Sirius and Marlene were lying side by side on the grass, looking up at the sky. Alice and Frank were lying a few feet away from Sirius and Marlene. Remus was leaning up against a palm tree, reading one of his books.

I looked over at her. Her right hand was clasped into Frank's, and I could see some tears in her eyes.

"Al, don't cry," I said. "Because if you cry, I'll cry, and I don't wanna cry." I tried hard to hold back the tears. Alice looked at me, and then the both of us burst into tears. I jumped up, and so did Alice, and we hugged each other tightly, sniffling.

"I'm going to miss you, Lils," Alice cried. "We're never going to be able to see each other as much anymore."

"Al, stop, I won't be able to stop crying."

"I can't stop crying, Lils." I felt someone's arm go around my shoulder and say Marlene, crying too, but silently.

"Oh, Marls," I cried. "Oh, I'm going to miss you so, so, so much!"

"Stop it, I w-won't be a-able to s-stop cry-crying," Marlene sobbed.

"I can't stop it, Marls,"

"I wanna have a sleepover tonight. Lils, will you stay with us?" Alice asked. I cried harder.

"Of course I will," I said. "Then we - we can cry together."

"Are you okay with sleeping on the ground?" Alice asked.

"Yeah, I'll be good."

"So . . . girl talk!" Marlene said. Alice grinned. Marlene and Alice took their blankets and pillows and jumped to the floor, sitting on either side of me, so we formed a kind of small circle.

"Oh, yes, I missed these so much," I said, starting to tear up again. I took a deep breath, stopping the tears.

"So, Marls . . . how are things going with Sirius? Is it getting serious? No pun intended," I asked. Marlene laughed, blushing a deep red.

"Well, we've been sort of together since sixth year -"

"Sixth year?" Alice and I asked together. Marlene blushed even more red.

"Well, we've been a sort of couple."

"What does that mean?" I asked.

"Well, we haven't been fully together, but we haven't been not together. A sort of couple. I don't, am I crazy?"

"Yes." me and Alice said together.

"Okay, okay, whatever . . . now you, Lils . . . so are you and James getting serious?" I blushed.

"Well, I am going to say something that will be very cheesy, and I know that me and James haven't been together long, but . . . I really think I love him." I said. Alice sighed, and Marlene squealed.

"Oh, I knew it would happen at some point! Oh, Lils, I'm so happy for you!"

"You two are the cutest couple ever!" Alice cried. I beamed at them, happy to get it off my chest.

"Now, Al, how are things with you and Frank? Getting pretty serious?"

"Well, yes, we are very serious." Alice grinned. I looked down at her hands and saw a great, big, beautiful diamond ring.

"Woah! When did that happen?!" I squealed. Marlene looked confused. "When did Frank propose?!" Marlene's jaw dropped, as she looked at Alice's hands. She screamed, jumping up and down happily.

I took Alice's hand with the ring on it, and looked at the ring more closely. The band was gold and simple, with a beautiful, sparkling diamond in the middle. It was simple, yet classic and stunning.

"I call Maid of Honor!" Marlene said.

"I call Bridesmaid!" I said. I jumped up, and so did Alice, and we all hugged, and then started to cry again.

"Now we can see each other more! We'll have to be together to find dresses, and we'll have to go and help you pick out dresses!" I said.

"I wanna do something like - like scarlet dresses, or something."

~James POV~

"I proposed to Alice," Frank said. I could tell that we were all drunk, but I wasn't sure if Frank was just saying that because of the drunk-ness or he was actually telling the truth. Sirius was passed out on the couch, Remus was in a scarlet and golden chair by the fire. He was drunk, too, but was somehow able to handle it better than Sirius.

Peter was on the floor, sleeping, a bottle of fire whiskey in his right hand. Then Frank started to laugh, and then so did Remus, and then so did I. We laughed so hard that the three of us fell onto the floor, staring up at the ceiling.

"You did?" I asked.

"Yeah. She said yes," Frank grinned.

"Congrats," I sighed. We all just laid there on the floor for a while before I spoke again. "I wanna propose to Lily. But we've only been dating for a couple of weeks."

"You should ask Marlene or Alice . . . they might know." Frank reasoned. "I could ask Alice if she knows."

"You would do that?"

"'Course, James."

"Why?" Remus moaned. "Why did I have to get drunk?"

"You're hilarious when your drunk, Moony." Remus moaned again, and I sighed. "Alright, c'mon, I'll take you back to the Gryffindor common room. I bent down and shook Peter, who awoke with a start.

"W-What?" Peter stuttered.

"I'm going to take you guys back to the Gryffindor common room." Peter nodded slowly, still sort of dazed from all the fire whiskey. I walked over to Sirius who was passed out on the couch, and shook him too. He did not wake up.

"Sirius, get up," I said wearily, still attempting to shake him. "Sirius get up!" No response. I rolled my eyes. "Fine, if it's gonna be like that - aguamenti!" Sirius screamed, jumping up and the cold water hit him in the face.

"What was that for?" Sirius yelled.

"You didn't wake up, so this was just the next big thing," I said. "C'mon, lets go, I'm going t take you guys back to the Gryffindor common room." I helped Remus up off the floor, while now, I could tell, that I was wrong when I said that Remus could take the drunk-ness better than Sirius. Frank helped, too, putting one of his arms on Remus' side to keep him steady.
