Chapter 20: Dislocated Limbs

For the hundredth thousandth time in his life he wondered whether he was going to die as the ladder led him to his doom. Desperately he looked around for a way to escape death. Finally he drew his kirpaan and stuck it into the side of the wall. Surprisingly it held. Letting the ladder fall away from his feet he found himself dangling by his arms as his Kirpaan miraculously held his weight. Him facing the wall.

He breathed in and out. Trying to regain his composure. He looked down and gulped. Having a mild sense of vertigo, the ground beneath him rose up and down. So he wouldn't throw up and to figure out a strategy he looked up, the platform wasn't too far really. All he had to do was propel himself upwards somehow.

He looked around.

Nothing.

Nothing to cling on to.

Nothing to support him.

So he hung there for a while. Then looked up at his Kirpaan.

You've got to be f*cking kidding me! He thought. He couldn't leave his beloved weapon behind just to propel himself forward.

But then a memory flashed through his mind.

Babbar's bulky body leaned forward. Then he shot forward running towards a pole. Rami was sure Babbar would crash. But instead Babbar lithely ran up the Twelve metre pole, reaching the top with ease.

"How did you that?" asked an excited fifteen year old Rami as Babbar jumped down.

"It's all in the run up. The more power in the run up the easier it is"

"Remind me to thank Babbar when I get back" he muttered to himself.

If he could generate enough power in his jump he could probably run up the side of the wall. It was risky. He will probably die. But isn't life is chances that are taken?

He drew his legs forward to the wall the pushed himself back. Forward. Back. Forward. Back. Forward. Back. Then swung his legs backwards, displaying yet again another perfect back flip, pulled out his kirpaan out and ran up the wall. It was working. His pushed himself up and up, not daring to breath. Suddenly, he felt himself loose his footing.

His breath hitched. His heart beat furiously. But in good time he saw the edge of the platform. Using all his might he held on, the pushed himself upwards using his arms. He stood up. Then it hit him. He had survived. His stupid risky plan actually worked. He would have whooped in joy.

But that was when he saw Jurie.

Arm cradling her dislocated shoulder. And crying. She hadn't noticed him with her face buried in her hands. Her face was startling shade of red, but Rami couldn't care less. She still looked beautiful. The tears were for him. He was sure of it. He felt his heart flutter. A smile graced his lips. She really did care about him. Why else would she be crying?

"I knew you loved me Angel!" exclaimed Rami. She turned. And looked at him, her honey coloured eyes glittering with tears.

"Shut up Fool!"

"I know that's really an 'I love you'. You don't have to disguise your feeling for me Jurie."

With that she got up and slapped him across the face. There was an angry red hand mark on his left cheek. He touched his face, hoping the stinging would somehow cool down. The weather was already hot and humid enough. Not like the hot humid dry weather at home, but this was more of a moist humid, it made him sweat more. Which meant he was losing more energy.

Despite receiving a blow. He smirked and said, "Was that just a way to relieve some sexual frustration Angel?"

"Shut up you idiot! You almost died and yet you still have the nerve to be cocky son of a...!"

"Whoa there Angel," he said smiling cutting her off. "I think you took that one a bit too far. We are friends right?"

Friends. That was exactly what they weren't supposed to be. But nonetheless she complied but still gave him an earful of insults with her favourite words "Fat useless idiot" "Ass-hole" "goose" "piece of sh*t" and even resorted to "pig". Then her all time favourite "Fool" She insulted him so much that Rami thought he would be martyred on the spot. He silently mused at the thought.

Rami Al-Arabi Montague Martyr of the Montague Clan, who died receiving torture from the vicious tongue of Jurie Kagehime Capulet.

But then he realised her insults were really telling him that she was worried about him. The thought made him smile "What are you smiling about?" She huffed.

Rami realised he was smiling. "Nothing..." then in a serious tone he asked. "Did anyone notice us?"

"One or two people. I paralyzed them. The won't wake up for quite a while and by then their information will be useless."

Rami cautiously peeped over the edge of the platform. Sure enough there were a few bodies, deathly still, arrows imbedded in their shoulders.

Then he noticed her dislocated shoulder. He instantly felt guilty. He had caused that. In his stupid desperate selfish attempt to stay alive he dislocated her shoulder.

"I'm really sorry about your shoulder. Do you need help with that?" He asked. If there was one thing in medicine he knew it was resetting dislocated limbs.

"If you can. But I don't was to screw it up any more than it already is."

"Don't worry I'm an expert at dislocated limbs."

"As in an expert in resetting them or dislocating them?"

He scowled. "I'm sorry alright!" He exclaimed. "Sit down." He ordered. Reluctantly she complied.

He held her wrist and elbow. He couldn't help but feel his heart race. Using Kocher's method, he slowly but firmly rolled her shoulder back into place. She bit her lip to muffle a scream, tears welling in her eyes. Then slowly he let it go.

Jurie sat up rolled her tender shoulder for a while. Then she turned to Rami. She didn't say anything but he knew it meant thank you. Rami's breath hitched, her face was dangerously close to his. He could feel his heart racing. He was out of control and apparently so was she.

She leaned forward, and looked deep into his eyes. Her breathing was like feather-soft caresses against his cheeks. His eyes flickered to her lips. From what he could remember they were soft and sweet. Like the light sweetness of pasted red beans that he'd tried in the squishy Japanese sweet, mochi.

He found himself leaning in closer. She brushed her soft lips against his, so lightly that he found himself pulling her closer, so that he could taste the sweetness of her and the saltiness of her tears for him, against his. He pressed his lips firmly against hers as she parted her lips, giving a gasp of surprise. His hands reached up to brush her cheeks, and found them a fevered hot like his.

Pulling away they rested their foreheads against each other, breathing heavily. The word 'friends' echoing heavily in their minds.

"We should get going." He suddenly said, his voice a husky whisper as he gestured for her to lead the way.

~~~~~
Jurie treaded softly down the dark corridor her face was still burning she had just initiated a kiss.
Oh dear what would father say when he heard about it.
Her fingers touched her swollen lips as she carried on stealthily, her steps never betraying a single sound. She could feel Rami's breath against her nape as they reached the end of the corridor where they were met with three loitering guards. They hadn't noticed them yet but Jurie knew that it was a matter of time before they would catch a glimpse of them.
"We need to take them down. And steal their uniforms." She told Rami under her breath.
Feeling Rami nod against her back she moved to pull her spikes from her shoes dipping them in a green liquid, before pulling her arm back and letting the three spikes fly towards the guards. As they sunk into their flesh the guards crumpled to the ground. Working quickly Jurie pounced on their uniforms, gingerly pulling them off the guards.
"Geez, Angel if you had wanted to undress a man so bad you could've just asked me and I would've done so immediately.
Jurie glared at Rami. "Are you serious?"
Rami shrugged his shoulders. But he watched as Jurie bit her lip, as she continued working at the uniforms. Lips that he had just kissed and tasted. His memory flashed to the moment they had shared not even five minutes ago and felt himself heating up. Shaking his head, he cleared his thoughts and took the uniform from Jurie's grasp.
"Watch me Angel." He smirked. "I'm about to undress."
Jurie spluttered, blushing profoundly but couldn't seem to take her eyes off him. "Stop." She whimpered.
"If you don't want to see all you have to do is turn around Angel." Rami laughed, as he lifted the first of his clothes up off his toned torso.
"Stop it." Jurie whimpered again, trying her best to tear her eyes away. "Turn around." By now her face was strawberry red as the blush crept down to her neck.
She looked absolutely adorable.
Laughing at her discomfort, Rami decided to put her out of her misery, moving to turn her to face the wall, and handing her a white uniform before turning away, to change himself.
