Sleep never came easy for Athena. But after the battle of Hogwarts, her insomnia became worse. She'd lie in bed with all the horrors swimming around in her head. Watching her schoolmates defend themselves, seeing those she loved die took a great toll on her. She refused to talk about Severus. Though she did move on a little, just the mere mention of him would send her spiraling. Sleep brought her next to no comfort, no escape from the horrors of the world.
Athena spent most of her nights in the training hall, a place she once despised, now a haven to her. She'd sit in the middle of the room crossed legged with her eyes closed, diving into deep meditation- the only source of rest she could get. It was quiet save for the gently breeze rustling the long white curtains hanging over the large floor to ceiling windows. The cool fresh air was calming on her exposed arms. Katie walked into the hall moments later. She padded over to her best friend and sat crossed leg in front of her.
Katie Bell, just like everyone, changed. Her once long dark hair that reached to her waist now reached her shoulders. She sported the type of look that everyone had in their eyes; loss, grief and trauma. Katie couldn't say it out loud but she missed Theo so much. She was worried that when the final battle came that she would have to fight him. Truthfully, she knew she would, given the chance. He was part of the reason many of her friends died.
"Couldn't sleep?" Athena's voice broke the silence as she opened her eyes.
"Had a good couple of hours in, then the nightmares started"Katie sighed.
Athena gave her a weak smile and offered Katie her mug of tea she had made earlier that night. Katie took it thankfully and had a sip.
"Does it ever get better?" She asked referring to all the pain and loss as well as the nightmares.
"Through time, it will no longer be a bother to you. You're going to go to bed one night and wake up the next realizing that all the hauntings, the nightmares will no longer trouble you. Eventually, you will become numb to it"
Katie pursed her lips and thought for a moment. She knows that Athena is carrying a huge weight of all the bad things she's done and seen. For two years she wondered how Athena could handle all that and Katie was slowly starting to understand what her friend had gone through.
"Did Sylvie tell you that?" Katie asked.
Athena snorted. Sylvie had told her a great deal of many odd things. But the woman could be wise when she wanted to be and it was those moments that Athena would value any advice Sylvie would give.
"No. That is from my own experience. But things do get better, Katie. It just takes a lot of time to learn to let go"
"But you haven't, Athena. I didn't realize it then, but when we first became friends, you were holding on to a lot of hurt. You were in a constant loop of pain and you still are. When you first started to train us, you told us not to confused self defense with murder. You're afraid that we will become killers" Katie told her.
"Katie. I agreed to have you all trained so you can fight and defend yourselves as warriors, not killers. Why do you think we won't allow you to go out on any missions? We are not training you to be killers. That's not the life I want for you, George, Ginny, Luna..." Athena stayed her words and took a deep breath.
"I killed because it was the job I had to do. Yes, they were bad people, but I didn't use a simple killing curse. I..." Katie grabbed Athena's hand.
"It's okay. You don't have to tell me. I understand. I was just saying that you are not alone. George and I talked to everyone and we have your back. We all do. We agreed to fight because it is our war too. It may see that hope is all lost but I still have hope that Fred, Leanne, Seamus, my mum and dad are all safe somehow. I have hope that you can bring an end to this and we will be right there with you"
Athena tightened her hand on Katie's. She leaned over and gave her a hug. Athena was thankful for her words but it sent a shudder through her. There was no telling how this war was going to end but Athena had a gut feeling that something was going to happen. She didn't know if it was good or bad, which didn't make the suspense any better.
Feeling a warm sensation in her pocket, Athena took out the moonstone and saw that it was radiating a subtle glow. Draco was calling to her.
"I have to go" she told Katie whilst standing up.
"Are you sure he can be trusted?" Katie asked.
Athena laughed bitterly. Could Draco truly be trusted? She knew that he couldn't and that's only because she doesn't know where he truly stood.
"No, but I guess I'll find out in a bit. If he betrays me then that means he truly is lost" Athena explained slipping on her leather coat and her combat boots.
"Well I'm sure you'll be able to sway him from making that choice" Katie said with a smirk plastered on her face.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
Katie rolled her eyes dramatically. She thought that Athena was too clueless for her own good.
"Please. You really are daft. I've only said it a few hundred times. That guy will walk through fire before he would let anything bad happen to you. When are you going to admit to yourself that you are just as protective of him than he is of you?" Katie shot at her.
Athena looked at her gobsmacked. Katie just smiled innocently at her as she sipped the tea. Katie was always blunt but this was to a whole new level.
"When he grows a pair and tells me why he's so protective of me?"
Katie snorted, nearly throwing the tea cup at her.
"He did that when he confessed he loved you. Now you're the one who needs to grow a set" Katie snickered sweetly.
"Why don't you just shoot me with an arrow as well, Katie?" Athena joked.
"Nah, that's cupids job"
"Okay. I am leaving now. I think I'd rather get held hostage by psycho man" Athena grumbled, her Russian accent making its return.
Katie giggled and waved goodbye as Athena left the room. Katie secretly hoped that somehow Draco and Athena would get together someday. But she knew that Severus's death left a deep impact on her friend; even Katie knew that Severus would want Athena to move on...
"You have to let me go with you"
Theo had been following Draco around trying to convince him to let him see Athena. Draco and Theo were still close, so of course he trusted him. Guilt had been eating Theo alive from the moment it was revealed to Athena that he betrayed her. It killed him everyday knowing that his best friend, his sister hated him. All Theo wanted was to tell Athena he was sorry and that he had no choice. He would never intentionally hurt or betray her.
"You know I can't let that happen. She trusted me with this and you know Athena doesn't particularly want to see you. Give it time, Theo. I'm sure when the right time comes, you'll have the chance to talk to her" Draco said before leaving the house.
He knew how much Theo was suffering. His friend constantly beat himself up for letting things go the way it did. Draco's own guilt was eating away at him as well, but what's done was done and he couldn't change that. The best thing he could hope for was that Athena would someday be able to truly forgive him, not that he deserved it.
Draco walked along the garden, gazing at his mothers rose bushes. The garden was possibly the only beautiful thing in his home, filled with memories when he was a little boy running through the maze of plants and bushes. He was so deep in thought that he didn't see the lurking figure hidden in the shadows.
"By the lack of death eaters around waiting to pounce on me, I'm guessing you are not, betraying me tonight" Athena's voice caused him to turn around.
Something jolted in his chest upon seeing her and unbeknownst to Draco, Athena felt the same thing in her chest. He frowned at the thought that she believed he would betray her. Of course he gave her no reason to trust him, but it ached his heart knowing that she saw him like that.
"Told them to take a night off"he said stiffly.
She snorted, rolling her eyes s she slowly approached him.
"How considerate of you. So tell me, why have you called? Ready to spill more of the dark lords secrets?" She smirked.
"Actually, I'm here to tell you that he knows that you and your...assassins were seen that day a few days ago. We had no choice but to report it to him" Draco explained carefully.
Athena urged him to go on.
"And now there is a manhunt on you. There are death eaters everywhere trying to find where you are hiding"
He noticed how unbothered she looked; as if telling her that she was being hunted down didn't worry her. She really wasn't, in fact, she laughed knowing how stupid it all was. It pissed Draco off because he knew she didn't care that she was in danger.
"Well you can tell your buddies good luck with that. They will never find us. They call people like me ghosts for a reason" she pointed out.
Draco just stood there, jaw clenched, hard look on his eyes. Athena's smirk faded sensing something was troubling him.
"Why did you call me here, Draco" she asked softly.
"You killed Astoria...didn't you" he said though he already knew the answer.
Athena pressed her lips together. A pain shot through her at the mention of the Greengrass girl. If she would've known, she would have spared her.
"I didn't know it was her"
"Hey, I don't blame you, okay? She had orders, she knew the risks and-"
"She was forced to join, wasn't she? Astoria had no choice but to become a death eater" Athena said cutting Draco off.
"Not everyone had a choice, Athena. Alright? Some of them fought until they couldn't anymore. Some, didn't have a choice in the matter" he grumbled the last sentence.
"Like you?" She shot at him.
Draco narrowed his eyes at her.
"Don't push it, Westenra" he warned.
"Or what?" She asked giving him a smirk. "Can't handle the truth? Heard it stings. The best we could do is to own up to it" Athena pushed.
Draco winced knowing she was right. He was the boy who didn't have a choice. But what he fails to realize still so that he and Athena weren't so different.
"The reason I called you is because you keep making enemies. Not only do you have the dark lord after you but now the entire Greengrass family is after your head. Thought you should know" he spat as he started to walk away.
"Nice to know you care, Malfoy. And have you forgotten that having enemies is a part of my life? Think of it as a package deal. I can't be an assassin and not have enemies" she slightly joked.
He snapped his head to look at her. And incredulous look was on his face. She always had a tendency of making jokes during a serious conversation and Draco was stuck between wanting to laugh with her or scold her. Well, if he chose the latter he might get gutted alive...
"Why do you care so little about your life?" Draco whispered but she heard him.
"Because I'm no longer fighting just for myself. I have so much more to fight for even if I don't want to believe it sometimes"
Draco refused to meet her gaze. Instead he kept his eyes on the small water fountain in the middle of a white rise bush.
"And, you are one of the reasons that I'm fighting for" she admitted.
His eyes met hers again, a puzzled look on his face.
"Why me?"
"Because you deserve so much better than the life you've been given, Draco. I can see it, you're pride won't let you say it but it's clear to me. You're a prisoner in your own life, from the moment you were born. I get that, which is why I will fight this war..." Athena started to say but her words strayed when she saw something dangling around Draco's neck.
She reached over and pulled out the silver chain revealing a pendant. It was a dragon emblem. Her eyes flickered up to his as her thumb gentle ran over the pendant.
"....until every last man, woman and child is free from his evil reign. And I will make sure if it, if it is the last thing I do" she added with a whisper.
"Excuse me?" Draco asked feeling offended that Athena would be willing to die for anyone, even him.
The girl smiled weakly as she pulled him down a little and their foreheads touched. Draco closed his eyes relishing with being so close to her. They remained like that for a few seconds before she went on her tippy toes and kissed his forehead gently.
"YA ne mogu poteryat' tebya, Draco Malfoy" Athena said in a voice above a whisper.
Draco opened his eyes ready to ask her what that meant. However, she was gone before he could utter a word....
"You wanted to see us?" Sylvie asked walking into the room with Iris right next to her.
The Fates turned to face them, their eyes a misty white. The air in the room started to shift, the fire lit torches flickered as a fist of wind swirled around them.
"The time for the mother of night to help vanquish the dark lord is near" the Fates said in unison.
"When?" Sylvie asked eagerly.
"The Great Mother will awaken on the night of the full moon and only then on the third day she will lead her army into battle..."
Sylvie and Iris shared a look.
"She's not ready. It's too soon and I don't think she's fully accepted this. And you haven't told her yet which of the two prophecies will happen" Iris Dumbledore whispered to Sylvie.
"Do not dismay. The path will be made clear, when the time arises, she will lead them all to everything they hold dear. Love for love, two hearts intertwined, only he is tasked to end this line. A weapon revealed and he will play a part, for love and duty will tear them apart. Fret not, for this is not the end, the dark lord will be vanquished with the aide of them" the Fates recited.
"Well that just made things much more confusing" Iris scoffed.
Even Sylvie was left confused but either way knew how it was going to happen. But she did feel guilt at the fact that Athena's fate was unclear after the war ended. There were prices to the prophecy that even Sylvie counts understand.
Unbeknownst to them, Lex had accidentally listened to their conversation. He was aware that Athena didn't know that her prophecy was unclear. After she made the decision to join Voldemort, her prophecy changed. The new one stated that she would reign with him. When she returned to the Sisterhood, the prophecy changed again but it was still uncertain which route Athena would take. Lex knew that it was based on the decisions she makes which could also be dangerous.
Lex understood why Sylvie was keeping Athena out of the loop. It was so that Athena wouldn't get distracted by the prophecy itself. After all that's happened, Lex knew that Athena had become a little unstable with all the loss she endured. She was still human and a very impulsive girl. It's something he sometimes admired about her but it was his job to make sure she didn't do anything reckless. Lex and Athena had become very good friends the last two years, kind of a brother- sister duo. So naturally he wanted to make sure she herself was okay wether she followed the prophecy or not. As he makes his way back to his private chambers, he caught Athena entering the main hall.
"And where did you sneak off to?" He asked playfully.
"I went on a very long walk" she answered.
Lex rolled his eyes as he leaned on the banister.
"Liar, you went to go see Malfoy, didn't you?" He asked giving her a smirk.
"You caught me. And before you ask, no, he didn't give me any Riddle information. Just that there is a family out for my head" she said simply.
He raised an eyebrow and scoffed lightly.
"He's worried about you. Malfoy? For a follower of you know who, he really is breaking a couple of rules for you" he pointed out.
"Draco maybe many things, but he is very clever" Athena said fondly.
"You're worried about him too. I can see it"
Athena looked away and Lex realized why.
"Hey. It's okay. You may be on different sides but it's okay to worry about him. You don't ever have to worry about me judging you, Athena. If you want to be with him, then be with him. I'm sure you'll work it out somehow" Lex assured her.
She smiled thankfully at him. A sort of her wanted to believe that Draco and her being together could happen but they were both on different paths.
"Thanks Lex, but I don't know what my future holds just yet. Perhaps when this war is over,
I'll have a chance at... I'll have a chance at being able to move on" she said with a sigh whilst she walked passed him.
"Just out of curiosity. Did you ever tell Draco about your prophecy?" Lex asked making her stop in her tracks.
"No" she asked a little confused.
Lex shrugged and they both continued up the stairs in comfortable silence. They went separate ways and called it a night...
Voldemort casually paced around as the death eaters in the room just stared at him. Draco stood stiffly at the front alongside Theo, Blaise and Pansy. A couple of death eaters laid dead on the floor, older men. Voldemort killed them because they failed to locate Athena and the Sisterhoods location. Voldemort was getting desperate and impatient. He was blinded by his version of the prophecy that he conjured in his mind. The idea that Athena would reign with him was only rising his lust and ambition for power.
"Where. Is. She? If someone can't do their job right then I'll will turn to more...painful methods!" Voldemort shouted.
"My lord... perhaps it would be best to...lure...the girl out of her hiding place" Bellatrix said with her head bowed.
"Yes but how do we do that Bellatrix? Hmm?"
"We do it with this" a death eater said walking into a room with another group behind him.
Everyone turned to see the death eater holding up a small radio. Voldemort looked at the muggle object with disgust but motioned for the death eater to explain.
"We found this in a place we raided. They used this to communicate with any surviving groups. I'm willing to bet that girl and her friends will all be listening should we send a distressing call"
Voldemort looked very pleased with this idea. Draco and Theo tensed knowing exactly what the dark wizard was planning.
"Now this...is something that we needed for a long time. Send out a message and a group. Bring me Athena and kill anyone in your way"
All the death eaters in the room started to pile out of the room. Draco and Theo shared a look as they followed the rest.
"Not you Draco. I need you here" Voldemort told him.
Draco clenched his jaw and made his way back to where Voldemort was. His heart was beating rapidly in his chest, fear for Athena's life soaring through his veins. He fought hard to not grab the moonstone that is in his pocket, because there was nothing he could do to warn her...
Athena walked into the war room along with Alexa and Katya. Lee, Neville, Dean and George were all gathered around the radio with Sylvie, Iris, Lex and Kaz. Lee was talking into the mic, a look of relief in his eyes.
"What's happening" she asked.
"A group sent us their location. They had been trying to get their radio to work and found someone that could" Kaz explained.
"That's great. Who is Lee talking to?"
"Michael Corner"
"I know Michael. He used to date Ginny and he was in Dumbledore's Army" Athena told Kaz.
Lee went on to explain to Michael to stay out because they were going to send a group out to get them. According to Michael there were five others in his group. Lee hung up and told everyone the location. Sylvie looked at Athena and she already knew what do to.
Athena along with her group of assassins and Lex with his group of warriors stealthily made their way through the crumbling town they were now in. According to Michael Corner, they're location should be a few feet from where they stood. They inched their way closer to the town square, Alexa feeling a sense of unease.
"Something doesn't feel right. We've been waiting for ten minutes, they should be out here by now" Alexa said.
An assassin by the name of Quinn nodded her head in agreement. Athena kept her eyes narrowed in focus, Lex also keeping his guard up. Before anyone could even make a decision on what to do, small explosions occurred around them followed by a swirled of death eaters.
"It's an ambush!" Alexa shouted.
Their group ran out of their hiding place and a fight broke out. Athena dodged a few spells and let loose a couple of her daggers. She hugged in anger at Michaels betrayal and knew that he was a death eater now. She angrily punched another death eater then stabbed another one. They were all taken by surprise and knew that had to get out of there.
"Incarcerous!" A death eater shouted pointing his wand at Athena.
She dodged the spell and a few others shot the same spell at her. Lex realized this and motioned for everyone to surround Athena.
"No! I will not have anyone due for me!" Athena told Lex.
"Listen. We split up into groups. Take as many as them out as we can" Lex told the assassins and the brotherhood.
"Quinn, you and Athena run once we break apart. I'll find you once we take care of this" Lex told the assassin next to Athena. He knows they were after her .
"But-"
"Now!" Lex shouted not giving Athena a chance to argue with him.
The circle around Athena scattered and Quinn dragged Athena along with her. Both girls running through another street clearly aware of the two death eaters following after them from the roofs of houses. One of the death eaters appeared in front of them and Quinn started to fight him. Athena fought the other one. She threw a couple of blows to his face and slashed her knife to his arm. He became angry and used all his strength and shoved Athena against the brick wall of a house.
Her head hit the wall hard resulting in getting a scratch on the side of her forehead. This death eater was stronger that she though and he overpowered her. Her hands were now listed to her chest and she struggled to break free.
"The dark lord will finally have his prized weapon girly. Squirmy little thing are you? I can fix that" the man chuckled darkly as he inched his face towards her own.
Athena threw her head forward hitting his in the process. The man groaned in pain and slapped her hard across the face. Athena yelped but took out a blade she had hidden and went to slash it at the man again. He grabbed her wrist, taking the blade out of her hand and smashed her side with it. Blood started to pour out of her fresh wound and the death eater took her and threw her on the floor.
"Crucio!"
She felt herself engulfed in agonizing pain. Athena ms eyes were blurry and she could barely make out Quinn fighting off two death eaters. She watched as her Sister tried to help her but she was outnumbered and she was also wounded. Quinn was getting weaker due to the large gash on her thigh and side. The brunette managed to kill one of the death eaters she was fighting but the other put her in a headlock.
Athena felt her muscles relax once the curse was taken off her. She weakly pushed herself off the ground and was now on her knees still shaking slightly. The death eater who had tortured her now had his wand pointed at her neck.
"Any last words, pretty?" The death eater holding Quinn asked with a grin.
Athena struggled to break free and urged the girl to keep fighting. But it was no use, Quinn was in a very weak state and Athena was just as worse off.
"Forgive me Sister. I will not be there to see you ascend..." Quinn breathed shakily.
"Let her go! It's me you want! Just let her go you bastard!"
The death eaters laughed and the one holding Quinn placed the blade of her dagger against her throat.
"No!! Please! I'll do anything! Just let her go!!" Athena begged.
"... Hail Hecate!" Quinn said before the death eater slit her throat and let her lifeless body fall to the ground.
Athena screamed. Never had she lost a Sister in battle. It was like a part of her also died. The death eaters kept laughing as she cried angrily. Quinn was way younger than her. She remembered three years after she was brought to the Sisterhood Quinn was part of a new group. Athena trained her.
Suddenly a flash of green shot last her and hit the death eater that killed Quinn. He dropped dead. Another flash lit the area and the death eater pointing his wand at her neck also fell dad. Before Athena could comprehend what was happening, a pair of strong arms lifted her up to her feet and pushed her among.
"We have to hurry and get you out of here" a familiar voice said.
She looked up and saw that it was Theo. Athena was both shocked and surprise but didn't say anything. He led her through the maze of empty streets until they stopped behind a small house.
"There's a group of your Sisters just down these two blocks. Can you make it?" Theo asked gazing at the blood seeping out of her black suit.
"Why are you doing this" she asked him.
"Because no matter what you may think of me, just know that I would never intentionally hurt or betray you, Ena" Theo told her, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
It was there that she saw it, in his eyes, the boy she first became friends with. Theo Nott, her best friend, her brother, just as trapped as Draco.
"Theo-"
"Just live. Okay? He is after you and he will not stop until he has you. His going to kill every one and anyone who is against him. You're the only one who can stop this, Ena. You are the key to ending this. Now go" he urged her.
"What's all this?" Two death eaters approached them.
Theo gulped and looked back to Athena.
"Go" he whispered to her before he started shooting curses at the death eaters.
He killed both of them and demanded Athena to run. She did, with great difficulty. She stopped halfway down the street to see that three death eaters now had Theo confined. One of them punched him in the stomach and then on the face. Before she could run to help him, they disappeared. Athena felt her blood turn cold and feared for her friends life. She was wreaked with sobs as she pushed herself to keep moving. Blood still kept pouring out of the gash on her side but her main concern was Theo and the death of Quinn.
She rounded a corner but fell against the wall of a building catching the attention of the small group of assassins. Lex ran to Athena seeing the state she was in and applied pressure to her wound.
"We need to get back now!" Lex ordered.
He carried Athena bridal style telling her something about how this was going to hurt for a moment. As soon as they apparated Athena passed out...
Athena gasped awake breathing heavily. Her mother Iris was as her side immediately. Athena tried to sit up but she felt so sore and heavy. Images of Quinn dying and Theo getting beat up by the death eaters resurfaced in her mind.
"I need to go, I need to go"
"No, you are not going anywhere" Iris told her.
Lex and Kaz walked into the room a few seconds after. Both relieved that Athena was awake.
"Quinn is dead. They killed her" Athena cried.
"I know. I know" Lex told her gently. He along with a group went back to get the girl.
"And Theo. He saved me and they took him. I have to go, I need to help him" Athena cried just as Katie entered the room.
Katie's face paled at the mention of Theo and she wondered what was going on. She took Athena's hand to comfort her knowing she was delirious with all that's happened.
"There's nothing you can do about it now, Attie" Iris told her sorrowfully.
"No, can't you understand he needs me!" Athena's voice changed to a powerful one. Her eyes glowed gold shocking everyone in the room.
Athena passed out again afterwards. Everyone looked at Sylvie who was stood by the window and the woman gave everyone a knowing look.
Hours later Athena woke up again. Only her mother was in the room. The girl slipped out of bed and slowly walked over to the similar blond.
"I think it's time we talked about what's going to happen" Iris broke the silence.
"What's going to happen?" Athena asked, her throat a little soar.
Iris stood and looked at her daughter. She heads up the envelop that Dumbledore left her when he died. Athena saw that the seal was now broken and she knew what it meant.
The seal will break when the right time comes.
"This letter was written by Diana- Hecate herself before she died. It leaves the instructions on how to wake her within you. It was sealed so that no one, not even you could open it in fear of things didn't go according to the prophecy"
"In case I changed sides" Athena added.
"Yes. Your grandfather told me that when the seal broke, it means that you're ready. It may not seem like it and you may still be confused but this is who you are meant to be at this time. Attie, the time has come. I- I don't know what is going to happen once you complete your transformation. But you will be powerful enough to stop him. But the thing is, the prophecy doesn't state what's going to happen to you once this is all over" Iris said.
Athena hugged her mother who was now sobbing uncontrollably. Athena held her mother close understanding her fear. The fact that Athena still had no idea how this prophecy was going to play out scared her. But she had to trust the fates and she had to complete her destiny.
"I love you so much Attie. I'm so so sorry for all the pain I have allowed to happen to you" Iris sobbed.
"And I have forgiven you a thousand times and a thousand times more, mum. Your little Attie loves you"
Iris held her daughter tightly. Sylvie walked in watching the two and knew that the news has been told. Athena looked at Sylvie who gave her a weak smile. As much as this was necessary, it still was very difficult.
"There is something I have to do first" Athena told Sylvie who nodded her head.
"Do what you need to do"
Draco sat on the bench at the foot of his bed. He was doubled over, elbow on his knees and hands in his hair. He had just gotten his orders and it scared the shit out of him. Things were becoming very real very fast. A crack sound made him look up and he saw Athena standing by the window. He got up instantly and she met him half way.
"Where's Theo. Tell me he's alright" Athena begged him.
"He's fine, he's fine. Took a beating, but he's fine. He managed to tell some bullshit story but the dark lord bought it" Draco promised her.
She sighed in relief but it didn't take the edge away.
"Athia, what are you doing here? You can't be here" Draco said stepping away from her.
He felt ashamed and hated himself already for what he had to do. Athena walked over to him and forced him to look at her. He scanned her face for a moment trying to find the words to say.
"Voldemort is gathering his forces. He's getting ready for war. He is certain that you will come to him but incase you don't. He is going to have us kill everyone"
She wasn't surprised but it didn't make Athena any less horrified. Voldemorts attempts today to have her captured was the final straw for her. She wanted this to end already and she was ready for it.
"He won't have to, because I'm going to come to him. I'm going to give him exactly what he wants. I'm tired of losing people I care about because of him. I'm tired of it"
"No. You are going to leave right now and disappear. You hear me? Go somewhere else. Start new, forget about... forget about me" Draco said shakily.
"I will never forget about you, you doofus. I wasn't created to run, Draco. I was created to put a stop to this. And I will. Draco. Do you trust me?" She asked him a little timidly
He looked at her intently and reached over to take her hand.
"You know that I do"
"Can I trust you?" She asked even though she already did.
"More than anything" he replied.
"Then trust that I have a plan"
Something about her words didn't feel right to him. He reached for her chin to make her look into his eyes. Green on Silver. Athena could never lie to Draco, which is why this was very hard for her to keep to herself.
"Athia, you better tell me why you're really here" he said warningly.
Athena let out a shaky breath. She took the hand that was on her chin and squeezed it.
"The part of me hidden inside is awakening, Draco. Hecate, she's just as real as you are standing right in front of me. Very soon, I'll go through a transformation and I will be strong enough to help defeat Tom Riddle"
"No. There's more to it. What aren't you telling me" Draco said.
She pursed her lips.
"When this all started, I learned that this is all part of a prophecy, not the prophecy that Tom thinks it is...it's my prophecy, the real one. However, that time that I joined him, it all changed and now I'm uncertain which one is going to play out" she explained.
"Okay. Tell me the prophecy" Draco said
Athena recited the prophecy to him. He listened intently, holding on to each word. Athena still wasn't sure what it meant but a part of her deep down had an idea. However, she was certain that it would all make sense when she completed her transformation. She prayed Diana's memories could help her. Once she was done, Draco scratched the back of his neck sheepishly, he had no idea either.
"It's crazy right" Athena sighed.
"Sweetheart, crazy wouldn't even begin to explain it. If the dark lord finds out about this prophecy then he wouldn't rest until you're dead"
Athena tensed a little. Draco noticed and brushed her hair behind her ear. He gave her a reassuring smile telling her that he can be trusted. It was far fetched since she hasn't forgiven him yet but this was his chance to prove it to her.
"What do you need me to do, Athia?" Draco whispered.
"You mean, you'll help us?" Athena asked.
He gave her a boyish grin and one she loved so much.
"I want the bastard gone as much as you do, love. And for you, I'm willing to do anything. So tell me, what do I need to do on my end?" Draco asked.
Athena told him a plan she had already come up with. Draco agreed and the plan was perfect. Athena couldn't believe this was happening. For years she had been imagining how things were going to play out and here she was making a plan with Draco.
"So it's settled. I'll relay the message to Blaise, Pansy, Terrence, Marcus and Theo" Draco said and noticed the look Athena was giving him.
"Relax. They're on our side. They didn't have a choice, just like me and a few others as well"
She nodded her head in understanding and fumbled with her fingers nervously. Her eyes stared into his and he saw fear in them. They stared at one another for a few moments longer before she reached up and crashed her lips onto his. Draco kissed her back instantly, eagerly as he held her by the waist.
"What was that for" he breathed once they pulled away.
"This is the last time I'm going to see you until the battle starts. The full moon is in a few days and I wanted to kiss you as just me, as Athena"
Draco's walls came down for this moment. He grabbed her by the head and kissed her hard. She gave into him again, both relishing in this gifted moment.
"No matter what happens, you are my Athena. Now, and Always" Draco said against her lips.
They both shared another kiss, deeper than the last one. Little did they know that with that kiss, a certain fate was sealed...

Miles away at the small cottage that was far away from the forbidden forest, a pair of eyes stared up into the night sky. The full moon was shining brighter than ever before and the man knew the time had come.
Hagrid, who was standing in the doorway walked over to the man and stood besides him. He looked up into the sky and at the moon also seeing a difference in it.
"The lads are ready. When are we leav'in?" The half giant asked.
"Three days time" the man said.
"Are you sure about this? Your daughter, Athena I mean, is she really goin' to become the uh, the Great Mother?" Hagrid asked.
Nikolai Westenra turned to look at Hagrid, a small smile on his thin lips.
"Tonight...she is and she will help end this" he said then looked up at the night sky again...
Everyone at the Sisterhood headquarters were all gathered in the main large courtyard. Ron, Hermione, George, Luna, Katie, Cho, Neville, Lee, Ginny and many of the former Hogwarts students were dressed in suits similar to the Sister and Brotherhood.
Minerva along with the other Professors and adults were also gathered with their students and loved ones and those who also escaped Hogwarts. Everyone stood in a large circle leaving a big empty space in the middle. The area was lit with many torches to give the place some light as everyone waited patiently.
Athena slowly walked through the crowd led by Sylvie, Lex, Katya, Alexa and Kaz. Once they reached the middle, they took their respective places. Athena stood nervously but didn't show it. Sylvie had explained to her exactly what the letter said and how this was going to happen.
"Holy shit" Athena mumbled making Lex chuckle lightly.
"Yeah, that's the same thing I would say if I were in your shoes" he said lightly.
"I think he's low key jealous, little wolf" Kaz said patting her shoulder. Athena smirked at him.
Lex rolled his eyes at his big brother. He gave Athena a reassuring smile and gave her a hug. George, Neville and Katie also gave their friend hugs. Athena fought the urge to cry. To her it felt like she was going away but she really wasn't. This was still all unknown to her but she trusted the process.
"Two years we have been at war. Two years we have endured the dark lords rise to power. He believes he has won. He believes that we are all defeated. But he is wrong! All of us who are standing here tonight are strong and undefeated and we will continue to stand!" Athena said.
The Assassins and Sons of Night banged their spears on the ground three times in agreement. Some even shouted, their loud cheers echoed in the night.
Sylvie stepped up and brushed a strand of Athena's blond hair behind her shoulder. There were no words spoken between them, there didn't have to be. Their was a silent understanding between Athena and Sylvie and both women had made their peace with one another.
Sylvie sighed and nodded her head knowing that it was time to begin. She took out Diana's letter and placed it in a small bowl that was held by one of the Fates. The ink itself contained the spell that would transform or awaken Diana/ Hecate within Athena. Sylvie motioned for Athena's hand and she held her palm up. Sylvie sliced her palm with a dagger and let Athena's blood pour into the bowl over the parchment.
"Mother, maiden, crone. We call on you now, maiden. We call on you now, mother, in all your divine power! We, who are your descendants in the Wizarding World, call upon you to return to us. We call on you...to awaken... and aide us in defeating the darkness you yourself have foreseen long ago" Sylvie said.
"Incendio!" Sylvie flicked her wand at the bowl.
The blood and parchment caught fire in the small bowl. Soon the fire turned to a flaming golden light and everyone, including Athena watched it in awe. The Fate holding the bowl screeched when it became too hot. The bowl shattered on the ground causing the golden light to spread on the tiles. They spread like streaks of light spreading like veins as they made their way to Athena.
Once they reached where she was stood, the golden light turned to mist and flowed around her like a cloud. The mist seeped into Athena and the veins glowed beneath her skin. Athena closed her eyes feeling a warm sensation in her body. Everyone else continued to watch with awe but gasped when Athena threw her head back and she emanated a bright golden light around her. The force of the light was so powerful that it makes every fall back a little. It was so bright that they all had to shield their eyes.
Thunder and lighting boomed in the night sky lighting up the flowerbeds with fire and a harsh wind picked up around the courtyard. Athena was then consumed by light, it was so powerful that the tiled floor around her started to smoke due to how hot it was. At this point everyone had their eyes covered. No one could see what was happening and it remained like that for about ten minutes.
Lex was the first to open his eyes and he was stunned at the state of the courtyard. The flowerbeds we're still on fire around them. The tiles were cracked, some were broken and pieces were missed-placed. There was a thick cover of smoke, flashes of lighting still flickered in the night sky and the moon was brighter than the stars. Everyone started to open their eyes also. Lex along with George, Remus, Katie, Iris Dumbledore and Sylvie walked towards where Athena was. Lex went further only to stop when he saw a crouched figure on the ground.
The smoke became lighter allowing the fire around them to give everyone a clear view of what was in front of them. Sensing eyes on her, Athena looked up and locked eyes with Lex. He watched in bewilderment at how different she looked now. Her hair was longer, wavier and silver. Her skin held a subtle golden glow to it. The dark blue dress she was wearing was torn in different places but still looked beautiful. Over all she looked eerily captivating and ethereal.
Snapping back to reality, Lex suddenly remembered his place and knelt down, his head bowed.
"Hail Hecate" Lex said.
Following Lex, everyone knelt down on the ground and bowed their heads. Athena watched as everyone did so, her mind clearer than it has ever been before. Her head turned in the direction where Hogwarts was, knowing that Voldemort resided there. She grinned deviously as her eyes glowed in a golden hue now knowing exactly what she had to do and a raging storm was coming to Voldemort...
