Chapter Twenty Five
The large double doors of the main headquarters to the Sisterhood were pushed open. Athena walked in with everyone behind her, Alexa and Katya staying behind making sure everyone was accounted for. Athena walked on ahead through the first building until she reached the courtyard. She was stunned at the sight before her...the Sisterhood army were training alongside another company. They all stopped what they were doing, watching as Athena walked angrily towards the stairs that led to a platform.
Sylvie was stood there with an unreadable expression on her face. She stared at the large group of students and staff before her gaze landed on Athena again. The girl was fuming with an anger that she herself couldn't even explain.
"Welcome home, Athena" Sylvie started to say.
"Don't give me that. What the hell is all this?!" She said motioning to all the training happening. It wasn't the Sisterhood she was pointing at...it was the other army she was referring to.
"Help from all over the world. They're here to aide us in this war" Sylvie explained.
"Aide? Really? So where the fuck have you all been then?!" Athena shouted.
Sylvie looked to the ground. She knew Athena would react this way and understands that she has every right to be upset. But Sylvie was just following her orders and going based on what the prophecy predicted. She also kept her agreement with Dumbledore.
"Athena. As much as it pains me for what had happened...you need to understand I had no choice"
"There is always a choice!!"
"We have to follow the prophecy...if we react to soon everything can result in a greater disaster!" Sylvie tried to explain.
"Fuck the prophecy! Fuck fate and destiny and everything else! People died last night! I watched my classmates die! I watched the place I call home blown to pieces!!" Athena yelled.
Sylvie stood her ground.
"You were supposed to help us! You knew we needed all the help we could get and he fucking won! How could you! How could you hold these armies back and let innocents die! Do you have any idea how many children I could have saved!" Athena's shouts echoed throughout the courtyard which was now silent.
Athena and Sylvie were now staring each other down. Athena was furious and Sylvie was guilty. The older woman knew that everything happened in the way that it should have. Athena couldn't see it yet but Sylvie knew that she would soon.
"Athena...there are no words that I could use to express how sorry I am for all of your loss. But the Prophecy was clear and we cannot go against fate-"
"Fuck...the prophecy...and you know what? I am not who you think I am" Athena hissed to her face, eyes glowing gold, before walking away ignoring the two men behind Sylvie...
Athena spent the last few hours alone locked up in her room. Alexa had let her know earlier that she helped everyone settle in and had asked if she wanted to go down to get supper. Athena obviously didn't have an appetite but thanked her Sister for watching over her friends and everyone they rescued from the attack.
The room was cold and silent as she stared out of the window. Her fingers gentle fumbled with Severus's wand, one of the few things she has left of him. Her heart broke all over again as she thought of him. Right when she gets him back and ends up losing him for real this time. She thought of a million ways on how she could have stopped him from getting killed. Athena admitted that Voldemort had gotten the best of her.
Her blood boiled at the thought of Voldemort. He was out there right now gloating in the fact that he's won. Athena recalled every moment of the battle; each one giving her a reason to not give up. She decided that she would keep fighting and refused to believe that every death was in vain. A sharp urgent knock sounded at her door before it swung open revealing Katya.
"You're needed in the war room, now" Katya told her, her voice laced with fear.
Athena got up and followed her through the winding corridors of the base. It was hidden with the best protective and security charms. The base was three stories up above ground and four levels below ground. It was massive, it being the main headquarters, the mother of all the smaller ones around Britain. Athena noticed everyone of her sisters rushing about and knew there was high alert. They made it to the fifth level, the meeting place for everyone.
"What's going on?" Athena asked noticing Lee and Neville.
"It's you know who. He's attacking the rest of England!" Neville exclaimed as Lee fumbled with the radio holding the mic.
There were various radios on the table and each one radiating a static sounds. Athena knew there were more people that they couldn't get to in time, so most likely there were plenty in hiding still.
"Can anyone hear me? Hello?" Lee asked over the mic.
"Hello!?...hello! I can hear you! Lee! It's bloody mad out here!!"
"What is going on?" Lee asks as everyone, even Athena listen intently.
"Death eaters! They're everywhere! They are destroying everything! They are attacking muggles....duck! Get down! Everyone down!" The unknown man screams over the mic.
A loud explosion sounded over the radio. Another followed and then another. The sound of people screaming echoed in the room, everyone having a grim look on their faces.
"Lee! We have to go underground. We've saved as many as we could but he's taking over everywhere. London is gone! Last I heard from Scotland was hours ago!"
"Get underground and stay there. Try to contact as soon as you can. Be safe, mate" Lee said then static is heard from his radio.
Everyone is silent. No one needed to say it but it was evident that Voldemorts army were now spreading chaos. With the elder wand now loyal to him, he was next to unstoppable. Sylvie rolled out a map with the help of a few others.
"Unless we don't hear anything else. We have to assume that Scotland is no more" Sylvie said as she drew an X over Scotland using her wand. She did the same with London.
"Lee is it?" She asked Lee.
"Yes, ma'am" he said respectfully.
"How many groups you think still have access to your communication... devices?" She asked him.
Lee glanced at Athena, unsure wether he should trust the woman or not. After seeing Athena's spat with her, not even Neville was sure if he trusted the woman also. She had a full blown army and only sent about thirty to help them. It was a low blow.
Athena have Lee a reassuring nod. Despite being very resentful towards Sylvie, Athena knew she was good at what she does and knew she would allow Lee to help them. Sylvie knows that this is everyone's battle they would be fighting and would accept any hand willing to help.
"My guess would be about five groups, maybe more if they survived the invasion" Lee explained.
"Would you be willing to try to get into communication with them? Find out where they might be in hiding? If there are survivors we can know more about what is happening out there"
"I can try, but it's going to take a bit of time" Lee admitted.
"Very well. I grant you permission to have access to our control room. Do what you need to do" Sylvie said, which surprised Athena.
"Thank you, ma'am" Lee said politely.
"And I assume you'll want to tell everyone the news" she said looking over to Neville.
Neville only nodded and left the room. Athena was going to follow after him but Sylvie stopped her.
"Leave the room" she told everyone else.
Everyone left the set of double doors. The two men also walked away, but one of them glanced Athena's way before the door shut closed behind him.
"I know you're angry and I truly am sorry for everything that's happened. But it is the way of how fate needed to play out. I know you do not want to hear it but you have to. I do not like the way things happened anymore than you do, but it was meant to happen this way"
Athena shook her head, her chest growing tight. Tears started welling up in her eyes, the pain was still fresh and wouldn't heal anytime soon.
"So many people died. Severus... he died too"
"I know, child. But his death, all of their deaths won't be in vain and you will see to it" Sylvie old her.
"Why? Because you believe that I'm some goddess? Where was she when we needed her, huh? I'm tired of being told that I'm turning into her when all it's brought me was false hope!" Athena snapped.
"No, you're not turning into her because you are her. And you already know that"
Athena clenched her jaw. Sylvie walked over to her. "You wanted the truth and you will have it. Right now"
Sylvie went on to tell her everything. There was no detail she kept to herself, no secret, everything was now out in the open. Sylvie went into detail about how she was instructed to create the sisterhood. She even admits that her ways were barbaric by snatching little girls away from there families and training them mercilessly...but it was all for a reason. Every girl in the Sisterhood were former warriors reborn into this world tasked to fight in this war, with Athena being the leader. Sylvie also told her the agreement between her and Dumbledore which left Athena's mind swirling with unbelief.
"If you do not believe me, you can see the memory yourself. The one your grandfather left you. You were born for a purpose, Athena and I think deep down, you are ready to finally accept that. You could end this when the time is right but you have to trust that fate knows what it is doing. You can be angry at me, hate me, but all I was doing is following your orders" Sylvie said bowing her head slightly.
"My orders?" Athena gasped.
"You don't remember now. But when you awaken, it will all come back to you" Sylvie explained keeping her head bowed.
Athena sniffled as she wiped her eyes with her sleeve. She was still angry and would be for a long time. But a new wave of determination had hit her and as much as Athena felt like she failed, the truth gave her the strength she needed, but she wanted to confirm it all first.
"When you're ready, we will all follow you" Sylvie told her.
Athena stared at her for a few seconds then left without uttering a word. She made her way down to the seventh level, a place she knew all too well. Pushing the doors open, she walked towards the three girls, the Fates. Athena slipped out the final memory vial her grandfather left in his will for her along with the letter. It was still sealed shut, charmed to open at the right time.
"Can you help me see this memory?" Athena asked the three girls.
One of them waved their hand and a rock formation opened causing the room to shake slightly. It wasn't really a room, more like an underground cave. Torches were lit all around and the Sisterhood banners hung from the ceiling. Once the large rocks moved a blue grotto was revealed. One of the girls waved their hand and a streak of water rose up from the grotto and poured into a floating marble bowl.
"I'm sure you know what to do next" the fates said.
Athena pursed her lips as she walked over to the floating bowl and poured the memory in. She leaned forward and dipped her face into the water and everything around her changed. She was now in the headmasters office. It looked the like the last time she saw it. When she turned around, she saw Dumbledore staring into a mirror. As she approached him he smiled at his reflection as if he was smiling at her.
My dearest Attie, my grandchild. I am certain that you have many many questions, and rightfully so...
Dumbledore began to explain everything from the moment he met Diana, to the moment Athena was born. He described it as a day so magical that even the sky celebrated with thunder and lightning. He liked to call Athena's birth the day a goddess was born...a goddess that created the Wizarding world.
He told her everything she needed to know along with everything that Sylvie already told her.
I can understand if you are angry. Believe me my girl, I was angry too. Though I knew the path you were on, a part of me wished that you could lead a normal life. But as Sylvie said, we cannot argue with fate. I am sure now it has all started. And I am sure you are experiencing great loss at the moment. But it will not be in vain. I cannot tell you how this war will end, that is something you yourself will need to figure out. But trust that fate knows what it's doing and trust yourself to know that you are strong enough for this.
If you are watching this right now, it means that a part of you has accepted the person who you really are. It's alright to be afraid but you will not face this alone. You have never been alone, Attie and you never will be. The letter I left you was not of my own, but as soon as you decide, you will know who it is from. Take it as a set of instructions and one Sylvie will help you with...
I am truly sorry for everything my dear. For all the secrets. But sometimes we just don't have a choice because eventually fate will catch up with us and destiny with be reached. You keep being strong and keep fighting. Voldemort will lose. Do not continue to deny what you really are for I know the part concealed in you is awakening...
This is my last message to you, my Attie. All I ask is that you move on. I know about Severus's fate and I regret the pain it might have caused you. I want you to know that you had ignited a light within him that has been diminished for a very long time. He loved you so much Attie, so so very much. But he'd want you to move on and you have to allow yourself to.
Sometimes those who end up betraying us do it because they love us too much. In your case, I imagine that a certain person does not intentionally want to hurt you. Voldemort will use anyone against you, Attie, even those that you love and love you in return. Learn that from the situation Severus left you in. Everything he did was because he loves you. And sometimes we have to hurt those we love in order for them to be safe. Not every heart that betrays you is dark, Attie. You'll soon see that in someone that loves you just as much as Severus did.
I love you Attie. From your Papa.
Athena pulled away from the memory. Her face instantly dries but her tears roll down her cheeks. Her chest falls and rises rapidly as she takes in all the truths she just learned. Athena slowly turned around and sees her mother standing a few feet away from her. Iris Dumbledore also has tears in her eyes.
"Did you know?" Athena asked. There was no hostility in her tone. No anger.
"Did I know that I gave birth to a goddess set to destroy the darkness that would plague our world? No. But... I did know that you are a very special child and one I didn't get a chance to raise" Iris said, her voice cracking.
Athena hiccuped and let her mother embrace her. For the first time Athena was just a girl in the arms of the mother she so desperately wanted. She sobbed into her shoulder, holding on to her for dear life.
"I have to do this, don't I?" Athena asked but she knew the answer.
"No matter what happens my dearest. You will always be my little girl. That will never ever change"
"But I will change"
Iris pulled away and wiped Athena's tears with her thumbs.
"No. You will always be the girl, the young woman you are right now. But, in a way, your mind will evolve. From what Sylvie told me, it's like you are awake but asleep at the same time"
The girl just nodded her head thinking she understood. It was all complicated but she accreted that she didn't have a choice. Anger still ran through her veins and as difficult as it was, she was going to have to face everyone. She and her mother left the seventh level and went up to the fourth.
Athena walked into the large room. Bunk beds were everywhere. As she walked along the paths in between two rows, Athena could see a few of the students sobbing, some stared off into space traumatized. She stopped in the middle of the room where there was a circular space. Athena saw her friends and walked over to them.
Hermione was sobbing uncontrollably into Ron's shoulder. Cho was bandaging Luna's wrist while Dean was passing around water. In the next section, was Molly Weasley crying silently as Arthur comforted her. Percy, Bill, Fleur, George and Ginny consoling one another.
"Athena" George breathed as he hugged her instantly. She hugged him tight. There was an air of sorrow in the room, there wasn't one person here who lost someone.
"Are you guys alright" she mumbled softly knowing they weren't.
"They took Freddie...they took him" George sniffled.
"We don't know where Charlie is either" Bill added grimly. "We all got separated when the death eaters started attacking"
Athena sighed heavily. The image of Leanne being taken away still replaying in her mind. Neville placed a hand on her shoulder and she turned around to face him.
"Who did we lose?" Athena asked him in a hushed voice.
"Dean said he lost Seamus in the crowd. We don't know about Hagrid. Padma said Pavarti was taken by a death eater along with Dennis and Susan Bones. It's hard to say who else we lost but we can try" Neville explained sadly.
"They took Fred and Leanne. Where is Katie?" Athena asked knowing her friend did make it out.
Neville pointed to a bunk bed. Katie had her head on Angelina's shoulder, both girls with tears in their eyes.
"Katie? Angie?" Athena called them.
"Oh Thena! They took Fred! They took my Freddie. What will they do to him? To all of them?" Angie cried.
This perked everyone up and soon they and all gathered around.
"I don't know. But I have a feeling they are not dead" Athena told them truthfully.
"You're mad! They are all as good as dead!"Someone said to which everyone agreed.
"If they wanted them dead then they would have killed them without a second thought! No. They took them for a reason!"
Everyone went silent. Athena sighed locking eyes with Minerva who was with Professor Slughorn and a few other professors that made it out.
"Is it true that you know who is attacking the rest of England?" A girl asked.
Neville glanced at Athena and stepped up to face everyone. This was going to be heavy news for everyone. Athena knew without a doubt that everyone here had families still out there, loved ones who were now either dead or have gone into hiding.
"It's true. He is sending his troops throughout all of Britain. We are officially at war" Neville admitted.
The room exploded with people talking amongst themselves. Many were afraid for their families, some complained that they needed to leave while some argued about what should be done next. Sylvie along with a few assassins entered the room, unaffected by all the arguing.
"What about our families! Who's going to save them?!"
"We have to do something! We can't just sit here while that man lays waste to our homes"
"Alright shut it everyone!" Lee yelled walking into the room.
Everyone went silent again.
"Now. We can't leave because it's too dangerous and it is no use. We'd all be dead before we could even step foot in London, or anywhere for that matter" Lee explained.
"Oh yeah? So if we can't stop him then who? We need a plan to fight! We need someone to step up and do something!" A boy from Ravenclaw shouted.
"We have someone who can help us. Athena" Neville pointed out. Lex and Kaz stare at her from their place next to Sylvie.
All eyes were on her now. Athena felt small suddenly and wanted to melt into a puddle on the floor.
"What makes her so bloody special?" Someone asked.
"Because she's the Great Mother" Luna said getting up from the cot she was sat on.
"Great Mother?" Another person asked.
"Hecate. The Greek Goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. She's the one who created our world. The Wizarding world" Luna said in her soft voice.
A boy Athena had seen around plenty of times stepped up. He was a Slytherin and next to him was another Slytherin girl who Athena had seen hanging around Pansy Parkinson. Her name was Millicent and the boy is Adrian Pucey. Athena was surprised that any Slytherins escaped with them at all.
"These idiots are saying you're some Goddess. Why don't you prove it, huh?" Adrian asked her. He wasn't convinced and thought it was all a joke.
Athena glanced at Sylvie who tilted her head forward, telling her to show them. The blond sighed. For the majority of her time at Malfoy Manor she was trying to understand what she could do. Back then she didn't want to believe she was who Voldemort was saying she was but now Athena was certain of the truth.
Holding out her hands, palms facing up, she sucked in a deep breath knowing this was going to take a lot of her energy away. Everyone watched in anticipation as Athena closed her eyes. Nothing happened for a moment when all of a sudden the room started to tremble. Athena opened her eyes that now glowed gold and her hands ignited with golden light swirling around her fingers. Everyone gasped as the light shined brighter. After a few more seconds Athena gasped Newley falling backwards , the lights fading away and the room stopped shaking.
Adrian and the Slytherin girl looked shocked, everyone did. Neville steadied his friend and gave everyone an 'I told you so' type of look.
"I'm not a hundred percent just yet, but was that proof enough? Or shall I make a more clear point? It won't be as subtle" Athena told the Slytherin smugly.
Adrian and his friend looked down to the floor. Athena walked forward looking at each face around her. She knew what she needed to do and Athena knows she can't do it alone.
"This war was predestined long before anyone of us were even born. My destiny was been written over a millennium ago and I might still not understand it, but what I do know is that I can't do this alone. We are all fighting for the same thing and that's our freedom from the wretched man who caused all this death, who started this war..."
"I can't ask you to stay but if you decide to leave, chances are you won't survive out there.Β The truth is,Β I am not up to my full potential yet. And I understand if you are angry that I couldn't stop him. I couldn't save everyone and I'm so so sorry. But we survived for a reason..."
"I can't promise you that I can make everything go back to the way it used to be. The world we once knew is gone. But if we want to move forward to a better world then you have to trust me and trust that I will find a way to defeat the Dark lord. He might've won the battle, but he will not win the war"
Athena concluded her speech.
No one said anything. With a soft sigh, Athena turned to leave when a voice stopped her.
"Can you teach us to fight?"Katie asked, fresh tears rolling down her face.
"Yes! We want to learn to fight! We can join your army!"
"Please, teach us to fight! This is our fight as well!"
Soon the entire room was full of everyone agreeing and saying they wanted to fight. Athena watched in awe as everyone united together agreeing with the same thing. Even the two Slytherins said they wanted to get trained to fight. Athena looked over to Sylvie who had a small smile on her face. She looked over at the two men besides the woman who nodded their heads at her.
Athena left the room feeling a sense of hope. Iris, her mother, gave her a proud look. Sylvie had told her friends and everyone who they brought here that training would be happening in a weeks time. Athena even took the liberty to telling Sylvie that Neville could help train her friends and classmates. Sylvie agreed.
"What now?" Athena asked as Sylvie approached them.
"Now we introduce you to our allies"Sylvie said leading Athena upstairs.
They enter another large building and a Athena watches in awe. The army was bigger than she expected. It consisted of the Sisterhood of Hecate along with another group.
"Athena. I want to introduce you to Cassius and Alexander Lykaios" Sylvie said motioning to the two men.
"Kaz, and it is an honor to finally meet you, Athena" the older one said, holding his fist to his chest.
"And you may call me Lex. The Brotherhood is at your service" Lex said bowing his head slightly.
"The Brotherhood?" Athena asked not sure if she heard correctly.
"Warriors of Hecate. The Sons of Night. They have come to our aide and will follow you when the time is right" Sylvie explained.
Athena was shocked. There had always been something of a clash between the Daughters of Hecate and the Sons of Night... but it was understandable that both groups decided to our aside their differences and unite together.
"Thank you" Athena said not knowing what else to say and glanced back at the army. Both capable of using magic and weaponry.
"How soon until we take back our world?" Athena asked.
"When you're at full strength. I believe the seal on the envelop your grandfather left you hasn't broken yet. But when it does, then you will be ready to take the next step. It won't be long now...
Voldemort walked along the path between his prisoners. Nagini slithering on the ground next to him. A few whimpers could be heard in the courtyard, students sobbing quietly in fear. They were all on their knees, Fred shooting daggers at the dark haired man, Leanne at his side. He didn't know why they were taken, much less alive. But he hoped his family and friends were safe somewhere and would come up with a plan.
"I'm sure you are wondering why you are here. And the answer is simple.... You were spared because I do not desire anymore bloodshed. Spilling magical blood is such a waste. Yes,Β I intend to expand my army and you all have been selected..." Voldemort announced.
Leanne shuddered and glanced over to Fred. He had his jaw clenched but held her hand tightly. Leanne then noticed Theo standing amongst the other death eaters and glared coldly at him. He caught her eye but remained emotionless.
"...to play a role in this war. And one you will help me win. You were once loyal to Harry Potter, but he is dead. You allegiance is now with me. And if you serve me, I swear that you will be rewarded with a freedom that only I...can provide"
Fred knew where this was going. Voldemort wanted a bigger army of death eaters and his classmates along with himself was the jackpot he needed. Fred knew he was going to be faced with a choice and one he needed Ron make if he wanted to see his family and friends again. Right there he made a plan and one he would share with Leanne.
"Fred. What are we going to do?" Leanne asked in a hushed whisper.
"I have a plan. Trust me" Fred whispered in return...

When she wasn't helping with training, Athena herself was either the one being trained. But most of the time she would go beyond the gates of headquarters and walk around the property trying to perfect the magic coursing through her veins. Sylvie had been teaching her control. Since she wasn't a full goddess yet, Athena still had a very small percentage of the power that was slowly awakening within her. Just the other day she nearly caused level six to explode.
"Come on. Just cooperate" she mumbled as a golden orb of light hovered a few inches above her palm.
She was trying to split it into two odds but it never worked for her when she was alone. The orb hovered higher before landing on her palm. Athena free frustrated and wands her hand sending the orb towards a tree. There was an explosion, the tree split in half and the top part fell down. Athena winced at the damage she had done and sighed.
"So you're tree killer around here" a voice said behind her.
She turned her head and saw Lex walking towards her. He laughed lightly at the expression on her face once he was standing next to her.
"It was an accident" she pointed out.
"Right. Like that one time you nearly blew the place in half? Or when you almost burnt Sylvie's hair off?" Lex reminded.
"Okay that last one she deserved. She started treating me like a weapon again" Athena frowned.
Lex nodded his head agreeing to that.
"I'm sure she didn't mean to. She's just trying her very best to help you understand what you can do"
"I'm not cut out for any of this magic stuff. I'm great with a wand, but even better with a knife and arrows. I just wish that...Hecate, would just get a move on already and make her appearance" Athena grumbled, waving her wand to fix the tree up.
Lex frowned lightly at her.
"You talk about her as if she's a separate person" Lex told her.
"It's just easier that way. Sometimes I find it a bit silly to think of myself as a Greek goddess"
"Well when the right time comes, I'm sure everything will make sense to you. I can't wait to see you blow up Tom Riddle to smithereens though"
"That is if I'm meant to. According to Sylvie, because of the choices I've made, my prophecy is all over the place or something. She always daysΒ that I'll know what to do when the times comes" Athena groaned.
"Perhaps she just wants you to focus on the things happening now" Lex offered.
Her shoulders dropped a little. The ache in her chest making itself known. Athena was still mourning and wasn't coping very well. Severus's death struck her badly and Harry's as well. Ron and Hermione were taking it very hard still, everyone was still in mourning.
"It's hard when I have so much anger and rage"
"I know. But suppress it. Then use it when the big fight happens"
"Lex. Do you think we will win?" Athena asked him directly.
He smirked at her, the Sons of Night tended to be very smug and sure of themselves. A trait that Athena found annoying. Lex was someone who wasn't always smiles and laughs but she managed to unlock that side of him- which led them to be good friends. She still thought of him as an annoying little shit though.
"I know we will win. He may have the elder wand but he doesn't have Athena Westenra at his side. Just trust that the path would be made clear when the day comes"
This seemed to relax her a bit. As much as she hated that her life turned out this way, Athena knew that she was their best shot at defeating Voldemort. The Fates never failed her and as soon as the prophecy was made clear, she was gonna light the bastard up.
Lex and Athena made their way back inside. They stood at the door of the training level, Athena watched as her Sisters and the Brotherhood trained her friends and classmates. Even Remus taught the younger ones Defense Against the Dark Arts. Minerva along with Slughorn and Professor Flitwick also held class. Athena smiled as Dean, Lee and George wiped the sweat off there faces, both finished with an intense workout.
Across the room, Katie, Hermione, Angelina and Cho were learning how to fight with daggers. Luna and Ginny were being taught by Alexa how to use bows. Everything was coming together and everyone united as one. It was all about working together to accomplish the same goal. And Athena knew that the time was coming for the final battle to commence and she herself would be ready...

All of Great Britain was in ruins. Buildings still crumbled to the ground everyday, not a living soul was ever in sight. This was the reign of Voldemort- a reign of death and destruction...a man who will not stop until any survivors in hiding were found. He showed no mercy to any muggles that were captured or anyone for that matter that didn't pledge their allegiance to him. Anyone who didn't stand with him he exterminated them as if they were nothing.
Death eaters roamed the deserted cities and towns of Great Britain. Voldemort would only send out his very best to keep look outs and hunt those who went underground. Today was just like any ordinary day. The sun was finally out after months and months of smoke covering the blue skies. However, this pretty day still sent a gloom over the destroyed City of London. Everything changed in a span of weeks when Voldemort succeeded in killing Harry Potter and two years later, the world as they knew it, was now a dystopia.
"So where this group seen?" Terrence Higgs asked.
A group of death eaters were perched on a building overlooking the area they were in. They had gotten word from another smaller group of Death eaters, whom were soaring in the skies, that they spotted a group of potential resistance members or muggles on the move.
"About forty feet from here. Probably stragglers coming out to find provisions" Blaise said adjusting his dark leather gloves, a bored look on his face.
"What do you think, Draco?" Marcus Flint asked.
Draco, who was standing at the ledge of the building they were on, gazed out into the distance. His silver grey eyes held a coldness to them now, colder than before. The last two years had had sunken within himself. Serving Voldemort wasn't easy and suppressing his emotions was the only thing that could help him cope.
"Blaise is right. Probably some muggles searching for food" Draco said and walked back towards his friends.
"Either way, we separate into two groups. Search the area and lure them out" Draco instructed.
"Kill on sight?" Theo asked blankly.
Draco pursed his lips.
"Capture and take them back home. The dark lord would want to question these ones" Draco said feeling a twist on his stomach.
Terrence sighed heavily knowing it was never good when they brought muggles to Voldemort. The man got off on torturing them, sometimes killing them for sport.
Draco and his group were about to leave when suddenly someone crashed into him. They rolled on the gravel, their hands on his neck. Theo cast a stupefy spell causing the person to fly back. They twisted in the air and landed on the ground with a roll, stopping on their knees. Draco and his death eaters friends watched in shock as the hooded figure dressed in black slowly got up and stared them down.
A group of similarly dressed girls jumped down around the hooded person from a building connected with the one they were on. Some girls had dark green hoods while some had their faces exposed and black ear paint over their eyes. The Death eaters pointed their wands and started shooting curses at the girls. The assassins ran and also started throwing curses their way. One assassin threw a blade towards Blaise who fell backwards in order to dodge it.
"Shit!" He shouted and got back up on his feet.
"Go! Let's get out of here!" Marcus yelled as he, Draco and the rest jumped over to the next building.
They looked over and saw the one with the black hood also jump after them. The group of assassins jumping shortly after. They started dueling, assassins versus death eaters. Draco dodged a knife and shot a curse at a girl. Seeing that they were heavily outnumbered, he started running to the other side of the building they were on.
"Fallback!"Draco told his friends and they jumped down the tall building they were on.
The death eaters landed roughly on anotherΒ roof. Draco and Theo got the wind knocked out of them. The group looked up and saw the assassins also landing swiftly on the roof, they made it seem elegant and swift, but they knew they were all deadly.
"Fuck" Draco said scrambling up to his feet.
What he deemed the leader of the group of girls, Draco watched in terror as they jumped down from the ledge then was handed a bow and arrow. As soon as they aimed, the arrow ignited into a golden glow. She let the arrow loose and it headed towards Marcus. It nicked him in the arm causing him to fall backwards off the building.
"Marcus!" Terrence screamed.
A few assassins ran and started fighting the death eaters. Draco held his own quite well and so did Theo. However, he noticed they were trying to get to Draco. He looked over to the other group of assassins, who slowly walked towards them, the black hood in the middle.
"Draco go!" Theo shouted at him.
The death eaters separated as a diversion. Draco knew they would meet at the meeting point, so he ran. He didn't understand why he was specifically the target but he wanted to be alive to find out the reason. Curses were shot at Draco and he kept running. Theo, Blaise and Terrence cast a few explosive spells at the group before jumping off the bridge.
The hooded assassin aimed another arrow, this time at Draco- who started to fly in a streak of black smoke. He made a turn and decided to use this to his advantage and shot curses at the hooded person. They let the arrow loose and it zipped though the air towards him. The arrow exploded right next to him and Draco fell through the air, landing on the roof of the building behind the assassins.
Seeing this, the black hood assassin calmly made their way towards the other side of the building. The girls surrounded her with their wands and weapons drawn. The leader took out another arrow and pointed it at the spot they saw Draco fall to-only to see he wasn't there.
From the corner of her eye, Marcus limped across the street, his arm heavily bleeding. The hooded assassin aimed her arrow at him instead, when out of nowhere a defensive spell was shot. It got the assassin on the side of her cheek. She ripped off the dark blue mask that covered the bottom half of her face and threw it on the ground. She stood up, aimed and shot another arrow where Draco was hiding, the other assassins shooting curses his way as well. Draco saw an opportunity and ran from the hiding place just missing a few curses that almost got him.
"I have him. Find the others" the leader told the girls before stepping up on the ledge and jumping off.
She landed on the street and made her way towards the direction Draco went. Blaise helped Marcus sit against the wall of an alley they were hiding in. Terrence was pacing back and forth freaked out.
"What the bloody hell is going on?! Who are those people!" Terrence shouted.
"They are the Sisterhood of Hecate. Or better known as assassins" Theo said casually.
"Assassins? Fuck man and they are after us! We have to find Draco" Terrence started to freak out again.
"Relax. Marcus, can you hold up alright?" Theo asked.
Marcus ripped a piece of the hem of his shirt off and Blaise tightened it around the scratch wound on his arm. The arrow that got him was laced with something and Blaise knew by the purple substance oozing out of the small scratch.
"Yeah. I can manage. Let's find Draco and get the hell out of here" Marcus said slipping on his leather long coat.
The lead assassin walked along the area where Draco was. She heard sounds of bottles rolling on the cobblestones in the distance and remained alert. When she reached another street, she stopped and used her senses to detect any movements. She ducked when a flash of green was shot towards her.
Standing up she saw a head of platinum blond hair running up some stairs in a building. She followed behind. Once she reached the roof, she ducked just in time when a large chunk of concrete debris was thrown her way. Draco shot curses which she dodged and shot some of her own. Once close enough,Β she kicked her foot and it knocked his wand out of the way.
"I don't need magic to defend myself anyway. Come on babe. Give it the best you got" Draco told the assassin smugly.
The assassin slipped out a knife and fought him hand to hand. She sent him a blow to the stomach and her blade sliced his arm a little. This didn't stop Draco. He grabbed her arm and twisted her around so that her back could collide with the ground. However, she uses that to her advantage and turned in the air, her feet meeting the ground instead. She kicked his back and he rolled on the ground then stood up again. His hand giving to the side of his face where he got scratched in the process.
Draco wasn't as skilled as these assassins but held his own pretty well. He dodged her fist and the blade that she wanted to embed into his leg. He noticed that she wasn't trying to kill him, just injure. She swung her leg knocking Draco against the ledge. Her hand wrapped around the front of his leather coat, pulled him up then tossed him on the ground. Draco backed away and managed to get his wand. He cast a reduction spell at her to which she did a flip over the bright light dodging getting hit by it.
Landing m on her feet, the assassin ran towards him. She sent a couple of blows, getting him on the jaw and one in the stomach. Draco couldn't keep up anymore, whoever this was, was stronger than he was. The assassin went to stab him in the shoulder but Draco grabbed both of her wrists. He tried to see who this person was but the hood covered her face.
Now determined, he pulled her wrists together and used his foot to kick her off of him. She stood up fast, dagger in hand and stormed over,Β grabbed his fist that almost collided with her face. It all happened swiftly. She had one of Draco's arms pinned behind him while her other arm was around his neck. Draco knew she was trying to knock him out. So with his free hand, he grabbed her arm that was chocking him. He twisted around, freeing his other hand and using it to grasp her hood. Using full force he lifted her up as he bent forward, this caused her to flip over his shoulder. When she met the ground she did a somersault and got up quickly.
The black hood had ripped off and was now in his hand. Draco watched with his mouth slightly open agape as the person in front of him turned around. A sneer was across her face as strands of her blond hair flowed in the soft wind.
"Ath- Athena?" Draco gasped.
They both stared at one another for a few moments. Her lips spread into a smirk. AthenaΒ turned around and ran towards the edge of the building before jumping off, twisting in the air to look at him one last time as she fell. Draco just stood there with a million questions running around in his mind. He can hear his own heart beat ringing in his ears that he barely heard Theo's voice shouting for him.
"Draco! We gotta go! We gotta go! Come on!" Theo's voice was distorted.
"We gotta go! Now! Draco let's go!" TheoΒ said grabbing his shoulder roughly.
Draco was still glued to the spot and Theo had to practically drag him to move. This seemed to snap him out a little and started to run with his friends. Before they reached the ledge of the building they soared through the air in streaks of black smoke. Draco's eyes scanned the area for any sign of Athena but there was no sign of life anywhere. Draco held onto the hood tightly in his hand.
He wouldn't say it out loud but he was elated to have seen Athena. However the reality of the situation hit him. Athena was alive and that means she was still after Voldemort and all of his followers...which meant she was after him, specifically him. He remembered now that the girl he loves sees him as an enemy...
I tried to make this chapter a lot more interesting but I guess it turned out to be more of a filler. Not too happy with it but let me know what you think!
