Athena huffed feeling breathless after that long fall. She tilted her head up, no longer looking at the ground but was now looking at him. Just seeing his face made her see red, and lose the ability to think rationally. There was so much she wanted to say to him, so much she wanted to call him, but her feelings were scattered everywhere. Not being able to keep her mouth shut any longer, she jumped up to her feet and clenched her fists tightly.
"Was this all part of your plan?!" She shouted.
She took a couple of dangerous steps towards him. And to him, she looked like a lioness cornering a gazelle, about to pounce at any moment, getting ready for the kill. He was the gazelle.
"Well? Are you going to answer me? Or are you going to just fucking stand there?!" She shouted at him again.
He didn't scare easily. There were only a few times in his life he was scared but not like this. Seeing the fury in her eyes made him see what Dumbledore warned him about three years ago. She was hurt, no, she was broken and he was the cause. He did this to her. He ruined her.
"You- you won't be able to understand" he managed to say.
"Then make me understand! Come on! Tell me the fucking truth for once!" She demanded.
Hot, angry tears were rolling down her flushed face. She paced left to right waiting for him to say what she desperately needed to know. When he didn't say anything, her anger only grew, her heart beat violently in her chest and adrenaline rushing through her veins. All she wanted was some kind of reaction, but alas, he didn't give it to her. He just stood there with no emotion on his face, the same cold look in his eyes that he always had from the moment she met him.
"You're pathetic" she laughed bitterly, brushing the stray strands of her blond hair away from her face.
She pointed her wand at him. Her hand wasn't even shaking. It scared him to see her so calm all of a sudden. For a moment, he wasn't seeing her, he was looking at the person she swore to never become again. He was frightened. Not for himself, but for her.
Putting his hands up, showing Athena that he means no harm and no intention of fighting her, he takes a couple of steps backwards. He narrows his eyes at her as she stares coldly at him, but he could clearly see the tears forming in her waterline.
"I. will not. Fight you!"
She scrunched up her face in an another wave of anger. Her patience was running out and she just wanted to end this already, right now. Athena was someone who always finishes something she started and he was not going to be an exception. She made a vow and she would keep it.
"Fight me! Come on! Let's finish this!" She screamed.
"No!" Severus shouted in return.
Her breathing became uneven. The pulsing head ache she had due to all the pressure made her nose start to bleed. She let out an angry sob as her eyes locked on his.
"Avada Kedavra!"
You're wondering how I got here. But my story, as much as I want it to be, isn't so simple. It's a crazy maze with plenty of dead ends. My whole life I've searched for a way out of it. And I thought I did when I found him, but I couldn't have been more wrong...or was I?
