"HEYYY" we yelled as kayla made a 3. practice is intense today and i love that cus if it don't hurt it won't work.

"water break" coach called making us clap.

"hi guys" i heard making me turn around where i saw my best friend a'ja.

"hey boo" i said walking over to her.

"hey how's practice going ?? i brought you a powerade" she said making me smile.

"aww thank you" i said hugging her.

"it's good tho super intense but sum i ain't use too" i said and she nodded.

"you wanna go to the mall when you're done ?"
she asked.

"yeah im down.. i heard they got some good clothes in there" i said.

"A'JAAA" kate yelled running towards us.

"MY ROOKIE" a'ja yelled as they hugged each other tightly.

"i miss you so much" kate said.

"imyy more.. i still can't believe they took my baby from me" she said.

a few minutes later coach blew his whistle so we all walked back on the court so we can finish up practice.

"good luck stink" a'ja said slapping my butt making me laugh.

"lol, thank you ma" i said running on the court.

"5v5" coach said. he gathered his trainers and assistant coaches and we started.

"at, tip, jackie, steph, and kayla with kate subbing" he said. i heard kate sigh and walk to the bench.

"head up boo we don't do that" i said as i checked the ball out on the side where the bench was.

i passed it to kayla who dribbled down court. steph and at where in the paint & me, tip, and kayla are the guards.

she passed it to tip who passed it in to at who dribbled in and turned around doing a step back.

"good sh**" i said high fiving at. a few minutes later he subbed in kate and i offered to sit out. i can't imagine how discouraged she feels.

we took the time to sub everyone out so that everyone got a break and everyone got to play and then we ended practice.

"at you're team captain call it" steph said.

"no" she mumbled laughing.

"i got you.. LACES ON LACES ON 3 1..2..3." tip said.

"laces" we said and started walking to the locker room.

"kate you okay ?" i asked as she quickly got dressed and grabbed her stuff.

"yeah im good" she said making me grab her arm.

"don't let that tear you down you boo. it's gone happen for you, you just gotta keep working it's all God's plan" i said.

"i know but it's like im never good enough no matter what i do or how hard i try" she said. her face was turning red and i knew the tears were coming oh lord.

"you are so worthy katie pooh. look at me it took me 5 years to get a starting spot in the league. i happily road the bench" steph said making us laugh.

"don't cry baby you good. it just takes time cus i looked a mess my rookie year.. you looked way more put together than i did as a rookie" i said making her laugh as she wiped her tears.

"you gone be a goat just wait" tip said.

"mind you i can't shoot with both of my hands, just one" at chimed in making us laugh.

"you are so worthy and everyone gone see that. you're time is definitely coming" kayla said.

"thank you guys.. i really needed the pep talk and the jokes" kate said as she rested her head on my shoulder.

"yk we gotchu! we ain't a team for nun" kayla said and we nodded. we did a group hug just to make kate happy.

"now stop worrying and focus on what you can do while you work on improving what you struggle with." i said wiping her tears.

"PREACH JACKK" steph yelled.

"you're ignorant" i said as we laughed.

"why it took you so long to come see me ?" i asked jackie as i stepped to the side to let her in.

"sorry boo. i was with a'ja she been acting a little weird so i just been trying to get her to spill it" she said plopping down on the couch sighing.

"did she spill it ?" i asked.

"no damian called so she said she'd tell me tomorrow when we do a movie night" she said and i nodded.

my phone vibrated in my hand and it was my cousin calling but ik it was most likely lay. im excited to talk to her.

i answered the ft call and her pretty face popped up in the camera.

"hi mommy.. i miss you so much" she said.

"hi baby.. i miss you more! how's it going ?" i asked.

"good lots of coloring and playing with my cousins" she exclaimed making me smile.

"im happy you're having fun my love.. but look who wants to talk to you" i said giving my phone to jack.

"jack jack hiii" she said.

"hey pretty girl. i miss you and i hope you're having fun" she said.

"it's so fun!" she said happily.

a few minutes later my aunt called her for a snack so we said our goodbyes and hung up.

"so how's the work coming ?" she asked.

"it's great.. i got so much work done in the estimation of a hour with no distractions" i said.

"thats good" she said to me and i nodded.

"how was practice tho ?" i asked.

"it was good.. real chill cus we been going hard all week" she said walking over to me. she straddled my lap as i exhaled.

"tired baby ?" i asked.

"not really just grateful" i said and she nodded.

"im proud of you" she said and i attacked her lips. my hands roamed her body making it jump.

"stop playing bae" she breathed out.

"why you teasing ? lemme make you feel good ma" i said her one of her hands rested against my chest.

"mm bae i need my legs for practice boo" she said against my lip.

"yeah with yo teasing ahh" i said pulling off of me standing up.

"bae don't do that, it's not that i don't want you" jackie said standing up.

"girl im finna take my a** to sleep come on" i said making her laugh.

i walked to the room and got into bed and jack did the same wrapping her arms around my waist.

"so the team is gonna go for drinks tomorrow with a'ja you wanna come ?" she asked.

"i can't.. i have a meeting tomorrow but thank you" i said.

"baby you promised you wouldn't come to miami and work" she said sitting up to look at me.

"yeah that was before they worked on getting my business back at the top. i gotta do this if i want it to work" i explained.

"yeah i understand.. do what you gotta do" she said smiling at me.

"miami got you all happy.. i be seeing all the laces videos and you ain't stopped smiling yet. you've never talked that much either" i said.

"idk what's in the air but i love it. it's different" she said making me smile at her.

"happy you is the best" i said as i began kissing her neck. her breathing hitched making me smirk.

"mm thank you baby" she breathed out.

"bae stop teasing" she said biting her lip. i smirked and pulled away staring at the hickey that sat on the right side of her neck.

"mm" i said to myself.

"omg did you give me a hickey ?" she asked with a blank stare.

"yup.. marking what's mine" i said nonchalantly.

"you lucky you got practice tomorrow or else i'd be tearing that -

"yeah yeah i get it" she said interrupting me with a laugh.

i chuckled and pulled her closer to me resting my hand on her thighs. im thankful for her company cus i do miss my baby but im happy she's having fun with her cousins.
