i walked into the locker room with my gym bag. today im officially coming back to basketball and im so excited cus i missed it. i feel like im in such a good head and mental space.

even through all this, i took the time to heal and better myself and become stronger not only physically but in my mind as well.

"hey coach" i said making becky look up at me. she smiled and quickly got up hugging me tightly.

"it's so good to see you jack" she said.

"it's good to see you to coach" i said hugging her.

"how have you been and what's up ??" she asked sitting back down.

"so i've taken so much time to think and heal and get myself into a better space and today im ready to come back to practice".

"i cannot wait to get back on the court with the team build a stronger bond and work" i said making her smile.

"we're so happy to have you back. especially happy you cus you haven't stopped smiling yet so i can tell you're healing so well" becky said.

"welcome back kiddo" she said.

"thank you" i smiled and she nodded. i walked to the locker room and exhale cus being away for so long for the first time since i got here 6 years ago is kind of scary for me.

"hey guys" i said walking in.

"HEY JACKKK WE MISS YOU" they yelled hugging me.

"i miss yall more.. which is why im officially back" i said making them yell again.

"WELCOME BACK JACK ATTACK" the team yelled making me smile and blush cus i still get shy sometimes.

"thanks guys" i said as i sat down at my locker.

"how are you tho ??" queen asked.

"im good.. super happy thank you for asking" i said and she nodded.

"we're so glad to have you back is wasn't the same without my bestie" a'ja said.

"im glad to be back" i said.

after getting dressed we walked onto the court and becky came out with her clipboard and glasses so we already know she mean business.

"aight now tete becky" syd said making us laugh.

"syd you're ignorant" i said in between laughs.

"okay lets start with 5v5, we need to practice transitioning" becky said.

it was me, ac, a'ja, kb, and megan vs chelsea, kp, kiah, tip, syd and queen was subbing for both since we only have 11 people now.

megan and kiah jumped for the ball and kiah hit it to kp so we got back on defense. she passed it to tip who shot a 3 and made it.

a'ja checked out the ball and i dribbled down passing it to kb who passed it back to me. i saw kb cut so i bounce passed it to her and she laid it up.

"h*ll yeah" i said as we high fived each other.

"nice pass jack. way to finish it kb" becky yelled.

"you feeling like sb coming back showing out like that ?" kp teased making me laugh.

"kp please" i said back making her giggle.

being back in basketball makes me so happy. and to think i even thought about leaving for good but i know my heart belongs here. im only 27 ik i got at least 7 more years in me lol.

just being able to pick up a ball is a blessing and im forever grateful no matter the circumstances. i watched as kiah worked a'ja in the paint.

"water break" ty yelled.

"good job" we said high fiving each other.

i walked to the locker room and grabbed my water as i sat down. i picked up my phone to text jazz.

jack🤞🏾: hey mama, practice is going amazing and we're on water break!

jazzy🖤: im so happy to hear that 🥹! so proud of you love & nothing lay is forcing me to watch lion king with her so we just chillin.

jack🤞🏾: period, i love that lol. well imma text you when i get out 🩷.

she hearted the message and i sat my phone down exhaling as i drank my water. i do not miss sweating like this tho.

i looked up and saw lay come through the door of my office making me look at her. her face was read and her breathing was heavy.

"what's going on mama ?" i asked picking her up.

"my head hurts" she yawned as she laid her head against my chest.

i looked down at her and she was sleeping peacefully on my chest as i lightly rubbed her back.

"hey bae" i heard making me look up to see jackie.

"hey mama" i smiled.

"she okay ?" she asked lightly as she sat down in front of me.

"she has a headache.. ionk she came in crying so but she just fell asleep" i said.

"aww i hope she gets well soon" she said making me smile.

"thank you ma. how you been ?" i asked.

"good super happy. i missed basketball so much and i think being back has been helping me more" jack said making me smile.

"i love that for you. you've really grown so much since the first day you sat in that chair. im so proud of you" i said.

"aww thank you my love. and thank you for being here cus i was so against getting help cus of my pride but you really got me through some of my most darkest moments" she said.

"ofc, that's what i got my degree for" i said making her giggle.

"and kb and i are doing good. very respectful" she said.

"very demure" i said as we laughed.

"i think she's getting sick. her forehead is hot asf and she's sweating" i said wiping her face.

"are you gonna take her to the doctor ?" jackie asked.

"idk she hates doctors but imma give it some time and if doesn't get better than i won't have a choice" i said as i typed on my laptop.

"well do you want me to take her with me while you finish working ?" she asked.

"im actually about to head out now so you can just follow me home if you want" i said closing my laptop.

"okay. here's her blanket" she said putting it over her and i thanked her.

"thank you bae.. i really appreciate you being here cus having an extra set of hands really does help" i said as she lightly as i grabbed my phone and keys.

"ofc i got you and her 4l baby" she said.

jack headed to her car and i clocked out for the day.

"bye jazzy and i hope lay gets well soon" ash said making me smile.

"bye and thank you" i smiled and she nodded.

i headed to my car and cranked it to get some heat going cus i think lay anemic. i buckled her into her car seat and then headed home.

once i got home i laid her down in her bed with her stuffed animal cus she always gotta sleep with that or me.

"i love watching you be a mommy. it's such a beautiful thing" i heard as i walked out of her room.

"thank you beautiful" i said and she nodded.

"what you wanna do ?" she asked.

"lay sick and it's cold outside so i guess we can just watch movies" i said and she smiled and nodded.

we walked into my room and she got in bed. i took off my hoodie and sweats i could feel her staring a hole through me.

"what ?" i asked looking at her.

"nothing you just look good. the tattoos are everything" she said making me smile.

"thank you baby" i said and she nodded. i grabbed my lotion and got into bed cus my skin feels so dry.

"not you with the toes done.. they cute" she said making me look at my feet that were done white.

"bye you think cus imma stud ion care about my feet and stuff ?? cus i very much do i keep em done" i said.

"period. we should do a little mani pedi date with lay" jack said and i nodded.

i finished lotioning my body and then put my socks on before turning the light off and jackie was picking the movie.

"jazz don't play with me if you not gone do sh**" jack said side eyeing me. i look down where my hands were rubbing against her private.

"my bad ma" i said laughing.

"you play too d*** much" she said laughing lightly as she shook her head.

i laid my head on her chest and wrapped my arms around her waist. im so tired omg. and being a mom and being my own boss will forever keep me on my toes but im okay with that.
