nineteen
✧ ✧ ✧
IT HAD BEEN TWO WEEKS SINCE (YOUR NAME)'S DISAPPEARANCE.
The Aizawa household haven't been the same since.
Truth be told, a part of them doesn't want to think their daughter might be dead. A part of them is saying that there must be some sort of place you were hiding or you were off to go to some place to find yourself. Everything in their house, the school, and even their neighbourhood started to hold chaos. There were pictures of you everywhere and the students and even the school board didn't know how to address the issue of your disappearance. Naomi and Eri, under Yshi's request, had stayed with her and Keigo for the past two weeks. Shota had stayed at his own home; taking days off from work and going as low as to drink his problems away with cheap bottles of alcohol from the local store.
The student council was far worse, they started speculating what truly happened to you and even if you did commit suicide, you would have done it far away from the city so they won't be able to find you. That thought alone made Hitoshi's stomach twist into knots.
He actually didn't want you dead. Let alone after what he had read a few days ago.
When Mirio, Tamaki, and their new found college friend, Nejire heard the news, they were also devastated and heartbroken. The duo had hoped they kept checking in on you while they were away and Nejire, who had wanted to see you personally, felt terrible not being able to meet them sooner. Momo had also been quiet about the whole ordeal. She still kept texting and calling your number in hopes you would pick up and you would tell her you're alright. But that never happened and she felt herself feel a bit more reserved as the rest of the class.
Katsuki, who had approached Hitoshi first, found himself being a little less explosive. He had even lashed out less on Izuku who was also bummed about what's happening. As far as they were concerned, Hitoshi even cried out to Katsuki when he asked about you-Hitoshi having blamed himself for most of the things happening. Maybe if he hadn't been too persistent with his own feelings, he would have saved everyone all the trouble.
Kirishima's positivity drained out of him as soon as he knew about you. The redhead's smile became less genuine as he thought of the person sitting beside him probably dead, probably alive, probably kidnapped, and probably survived.
The tension those past 2 weeks hadn't been something everyone enjoyed-and you didn't enjoy it either. No matter how hard you tried to go back to that same bridge every single day, the thought of having to leave the people that cared for you stopped your thoughts every time. You always said that it would all disappear in time and you needed a bit more than this to forget about them. But your heart screamed that you should go back, that there was still something you could do to fix what you broke. But the guilt that consumed you for worrying everyone was enough to keep you from knocking on the door in front of you. You took a deep breath and sighed, staring at the wood that was firmly locked, your legs shaking as your other hand held on to the bag that you've carried for weeks.
Gathering all the strength and courage you have, you finally were able to meet your clutched fist with the door, the knock echoing inside the walls of the home you were about to see for the first time in a while.
(Your Name) Aizawa was back.
And you have changed a lot.
✧ ✧ ✧
AS HITOSHI WAS ABOUT TO HAVE ANOTHER CRYING SESSION IN HIS BEDROOM, there was a knock on the door that made him shot up from his bed, his phone tightly gripped on one of his hands. He squinted, thinking that nobody would visit him at this hour and that your mother and Ms. Yshi would probably have another wine and cheese session in the latter's cellar.
So, when (your name) Aizawa showed up at Hitoshi Shinso's doorstep, the first thing he did was spill tears he didn't know he had inside of him until you were finally in front of him. He wanted to hug you, hold you and partially wanted to kiss you but the way the bags under your eyes were present, he knew that he needed to bring you inside and settle you down first.
A lot of questions ran through his head and you had a lot of explaining to do. Where did you go? How were you doing? Why did you leave? Hitoshi even debated whether or not to bring up the topic about the notes Eri had found in her bedroom dated two years ago. You took a deep breath as Hitoshi placed a glass of water on the table in front of you. The silence that surfaced around the room was almost deafening and all the two of you could hear was the shuffling of your clothes with the couch and the ticking of the small wall clock.
Licking your lips, you parted them slightly, shaking your head as you closed them again. What do you say to someone you haven't seen for two weeks? What do you say to someone who thought you have disappeared or died while you were trying to fix yourself? Before you could say anything, and with him noticing your tensed figure, he reached out for your hand. His thumb grazing your bruised fingers slowly while he stared into your dark orbs. "Take your time..." he reassured you as he smiled lightly. "... You don't have to rush your explanation."
Nodding, you slowly intertwined your fingers with his and raised your hands so it was facing both of you. "I'm sorry...?" you gulped as the words escaped your lips, feeling Hitoshi's shudder run across his hand and down his body. "For what, (your name)?" He tilted his head, his heart aching as he saw the life from your eyes drained to the core. "For worrying all of you..."
Hitoshi nodded slowly as he shrugged his shoulders, slanting his mouth just a little. "I shouldn't be the on you're supposed to be apologizing to. Your parents, your sister, the school, your friends... we were all so worried about you. We were scared that something might have happened to you-afraid that you might have decided to off yourself." You looked up and to Hitoshi's violet irises, his expression calm and collected. It felt like he knew everything he needed to say-well, he did practice in case you ever did arrive. "If you're not ready to face them, we can wait but for now, I just want to say I'm really happy to see you, (your name)."
"Can I hug you?"
The question slipped off your mouth naturally and the male's mouth fell agape, blinking a few times before smiling and letting go of your hand, opening his arms for you. Quickly, you scooted closer and wrapped yourself on him, your arms snaking on his torso while his rested on top of your shoulders. The warmth was enough to make you sniffle and sob quietly while he ran his hand up and down your back. Both of you stayed like that for a while before Hitoshi offered to cook a meal for you. Everything felt like nothing had happened and you didn't just leave them hanging and worried for two weeks.
But the nervousness in your heart settled like dust on top of unused items. It stayed there, unwelcomed. Waiting for the time that you would clean it off and make sure that it never comes to settle in your heart once again.
✧ ✧ ✧
THE NEXT DAY CAME LIKE A BLUR AND THE SUN SHONE ON THE WINDOWS AND INSIDE THE LIVING ROOM WHERE YOU STAYED. You weren't able to sleep well and you managed to force Hitoshi to go to sleep since he looked tired enough. His head was resting on your lap as you slightly played with his indigo hair, twirling the strands in your fingers as his nose scrunch as he puffs out a big gust of wind. He groaned as he moved his whole body to face the side and you chuckled softly, your eyes wandering around the living room.
Your thoughts then began to wander off to whatever the hell your parents were doing and how they were. You heard from Hitoshi that your father had began to drink his woes away and that your mother had left him shortly after you disappeared. Eri had been trying hard to cope with your disappearance by hanging out with Keigo a lot and Yshi being the one to handle Naomi's sudden breakdowns. Your heart clenched as you Naomi and Eri. But Shota?
You were having second thoughts.
When you closed your eyes, you felt a finger poke your cheek causing you to pry them open. You hummed and tilted your head as Hitoshi stared at you worriedly. "Thinking of something?" He smiled lightly, your head looking to the window again, your eyebrows raised. "Thinking about my family... I don't know if I want to see them. I mean, I do but I don't want to see my dad."
"Understandable," Hitoshi sighed. "But he's still your father. He deserves to know you're alright even after what happened."
"He doesn't deserve anything after what he has said and done." You spat as you leaned back, crossing your arms on your chest. Hitoshi sat up, positioning himself to face you. "I know. It doesn't have to be right now. It doesn't have to be soon. But someday, you're going to have to face him and talk to him about it." Hitoshi slowly placed his hand on top of your head, ruffling your hair as you let out one big sigh once again.
"But for now, why don't we just try to fix your mother and your sister's broken hearts? Hm?"

NAOMI WAS NOW HUDDLED UP IN ONE SIDE OF THE COUCH, HUGGING HER KNEES. The blue haired female clearly lost some weight and her eyes looked restless as though she had been awake for the past few months without closing her eyes even once. Yshi, who had been trying her hardest to cheer her up while covering for Shota's absences, found herself spiraling down in a series of emotions she never knew she felt emphatic for. "Honey, are you alright?" Keigo, who had carried Eri in his arms, walked in on Yshi staring at Naomi. "Hitoshi called. He said she's back... I don't know how to tell Naomi..."
Keigo pursed his lips. He had seen how Naomi would break down at the mere mention of her daughter's name and how she would sneak out in the middle of the night trying to go around town finding you. "Just tell her. She needs this, Yshi." Keigo softly pecked her cheek to which the taller female responded to with a blush. With a sigh, Yshi slowly approached Naomi and sat beside her. "Hey, Naomi... are you alright?"
The blue haired female gulped as she nodded, a small smile tugged on her lips as she nodded. "I know you're not but you better get ready because we're going somewhere..." Naomi hissed at the thought of going out into the sunlight, her eyes squinting at Yshi's worried figure. "I know you don't want to go out but it's urgent. Hitoshi called." This seem to have caught Naomi's attention. "He wants to see us in his apartment."
"Why?"
"(Your name)'s back, Naomi..." Yshi stated as she watched Naomi's expression softening, tears brimming in your mother's eyes. "She was with Hitoshi since last night."
✧ ✧ ✧
YOU TAPPED YOUR FOOT ON THE FLOOR AS HITOSHI INTENTLY STARED AT YOUR RESTLESS MOVEMENTS. Minutes before your mother's arrival, you had already been shaking out of anxiousness. Hitoshi had tried to keep you calm but your shaking figure never stopped until just a few seconds ago. "What do I do? What do I say?" you questioned the male as he shrugged, unsure of what you needed to hear from him. Hitoshi was sure you can think of something out of the blue but this was the first time he saw you restless and unsure about what the fuck it is you are doing.
Before you could start to talk again, a knock on the door was heard and you could feel your teeth suddenly biting your lower lip as you clenched your hands to a fist. Hitoshi stood up, walking slowly to the door, and finally taking a deep breath. He gave you a small thumbs up while he smiled and he twisted the door knob revealing a disheveled Naomi, a slightly smiling Yshi, and a teary eyed Eri. Keigo had stayed downstairs with the car as Yshi had to go take care of something else-Shota.
Naomi gave Hitoshi a tight hug. It had also been a while since they saw one another after they had read your notes and Hitoshi felt his heart swell up as she hugged him. "M-mom, I'm sorry I didn't contact you sooner..." The lilac haired male gulped as he let go of the hug, lightly pushing her off of him. "Is she really there, 'Toshi?" Her eyes were filled with sadness mixed with a bit of hope but she wasn't really expecting it to be true. Hitoshi stayed quiet and while they both stared at one another, you took this as a chance to stand up and walk near the door.
"M-mom?"
That was it.
Your voice was enough to make your mother freeze on the doorway. Her eyes never leaving Hitoshi's sad and teary face. Naomi's breath hitched as she felt her own body tremble after all those days of wailing and trying to find you-you were finally there. The sobs and sniffles that filled the room were intoxicating and you were starting to feel a little lightheaded. But as soon as you tried to walk closer, a pair of arms hugging your legs stopped you from walking further and you slowly kneeled down to cup Eri's face.
"Big sis is so sorry..." you whispered as tears started streaming down your face. Eri's sobbing started to get louder and her eyes were flooding with gigantic tears to which you wiped with your thumbs-the soft touch enough to make Eri melt. "She's so terrible. She made you sad and worried." Eri hugged you tighter, her little arms snaked around your neck, pulling you closer to her little body. "B-big sis is f-fine and that's all I n-need!" Eri exclaimed as she tried to smile through her tears.
After a few minutes of that, Hitoshi slowly grabbed and carried Eri in his arms, the male signaling for you to go closer to your mother. You nodded as you licked your lips, your tears never hesitating to fall down the side of your face.
If you were to describe this moment, it would be like the first time you rode a bike and fell. The pain the scrapes on your knees stung and you couldn't help but let it consume you. But when you went home with those tears on your eyes, your mother was enough to make you feel brave about it. She tended to your wounds and you made it a promise to never ever make her worry about your pain ever again.
But this time, the pain all of you are feeling isn't just some knee scrapes. The emotional trauma that this event had caused needed more than just a dab of a cotton wet with alcohol. This time, healing is a process.
And it starts by washing away the blood from the wound.
It starts by washing away the pain with tears.
"Mom, I'm h-home. I'm s-sorry."
You felt your lips quiver as you spoke, the sobs were now uncontrollably escaping them as Naomi rushed to give you a tight hug. "Baby, I-I'm sorry too... I d-didn't know you needed m-me that badly..." your mother spoke as she ran her fingers through your hair, gently massaging your scalp as you finally rested your head on the crook of her neck. "I'm sorry... I'm so... sorry... for worrying you."
As more apologies and hugs were shared, the room's tension started to die down. Yshi watched from the outside, her own eyes dripping wet with her own tears. Slowly closing the door and leaving the four of them to their own devices, she wiped away her tears and took a deep breath. She looked down on her own foot as she took a stepped outside of the apartment building back to the car where Keigo was waiting. "So, are they finally okay?" Keigo asked as he smiled at her, Yshi shrugging as he does. "Hopefully... it was emotional in there."
"I can see that, Yshi." Keigo commented as he pointed towards her eyes. "Shut up!" She retorted as she got in and fastened her seat belt, her dark hair resting near her face. "So, where to?" Keigo's question made Yshi close her eyes as she sighed. "I know you want to go check on him. No matter what you try to say, Yoshinoya-he is still your friend and he also needs your help."
"You know what, fuck you too, Keigo!"
Keigo chuckled as he stepped on the gas, the car making its way to the Aizawa's lonely house. "I am not doing this because he is my friend, Keigo."
"Hm? Then what is it for?"
"They deserve to be happy again." Yshi smiled as she looked at the road. "Shota just needs to redeem himself."
"Do you actually think that's possible?" Yshi hummed as Keigo cocked his eyebrows, his golden eyes never leaving the road as he drove. Yshi fumbled through her bag and gulped as she stared at an envelope with Shota's name written on it with her dark colored orbs.
"Maybe. I hope so."
