Chapter Twenty-Five: Secrets and Consequences
"Frank?" Asked Lily, little Black nodded her head. "That is very sweet," the redhead replied with a smile.
"Do you think he feels the same about me?" The girl questioned nervously.
"It seems so, because of the way he looked at you while we did our homework, I would say yes," said the redhead, very sure.
"Did you notice that?" The girl stuttered again and blushed more than she already was.
"It was very sweet, Meryl saw it too," Lily replied.
Calynn blushed completely as she was ashamed that they had seen that moment, although it had been one of the best of her life.
"Do you know anything about Frank that I don't know?" Calynn asked excitedly.
"I only know he wants to be an Auror," the redhead said without giving it any importance.
"And what is that?" Asked the little girl.
"I don't know, but I don't think it's important," said Lily, reopening Binns' book.
"What do you read so interested?" the girl expressed as she stood next to her friend so she could see inside the book.
"They talk about the Soap Blizzard of one thousand three hundred and seventy-eight, you knew it was so strong that they had to..." Lily began but her voice went out because Calynn had stopped paying attention because now Frank occupied her thoughts" ...then in one thousand three hundred and seventy-eight it was its apogee causing..." The girl continued without anyone paying attention to her.
Little Black kept thinking of her friend who had now become very important, too much to keep him in mind for quite some time.
"Calynn!" Lily shouted, pulling her friend out of her self-absorption.
"What?" said Calynn.
"I asked you what you find most interesting, the Gargoyle Strike or the soap blizzard?" But before letting Calynn answer the redhead added. "Look! They will also tell us about the werewolf code of conduct." Little Black escaped a yawn of tiredness and boredom. "Tomorrow is a very long day, I think we should sleep," said Lily, closing the book wistfully.
The girls said goodbye and each lay on their bed to rest.
Everything was dark, not a single point of light could be seen, only Calynn felt she was walking and could hear voices around her.
"Is she the new one?" Shouted a voice.
"What does she do at my house?" Shouted a distorted familiar voice.
She kept walking until she was stopped.
"No!" She yelled this time with fear and pain as she could only contemplate a blue-eyed man holding a wand in front of her.
Calynn opened her eyes returning to reality just as terrified. She sat down and got another scare when she saw someone sitting on her bed.
"Calm down, I'm Meryl," the blonde explained quickly. Some steps and voices were heard in the bedroom indicating that she was not the only one raised.
"What time is it?" Asked the future Death Eater.
"Three in the morning," said the sleepy blonde before yawning.
"And why are so many students raised?" questioned the pretty worried girl, believed that something had happened in the castle.
"Oh..." the girl hesitated. "Well, some are up because..." but it was interrupted by Lily's voice.
"It's here, teacher!" Lily's voice was heard behind the canopy.
The woman who had taken them to the dining room during her first day at school ran the canopy of the bed worried, behind her was Lily trembling.
"Miss Black, come with me, quickly," the professor ordered in a voice of comfort and at the same time firm with a spot of light on her wand.
Little Black got up quickly and followed the teacher while everyone in the room watched her.
"It occurred to me that it would be best to notify a teacher," the redhead began to speak quickly.
"And you didn't make a bad choice, Miss Evans. Director Dumbledore will know what to do," said the teacher as they left for the portrait of the fat lady.
"Dumbledore?" Asked Calynn incredulously. "Lily, what did you tell them?" She finished in a whisper.
"Everything about your dreams and I agreed to talk about it with the director," Lily said.
"But, Lily, you know I can't tell them," the girl replied as low as she could.
"Miss Black, I suggest you speak honestly because this can be serious," said the teacher before Lily could speak.
They continued down the stairs in silence while the girl was about to get out of her nervous heart. When they reached the third floor the woman led them down a corridor full of torches that illuminated perfectly until they arrived in front of a golden gargoyle and stopped in front of it.
"Jelly slugs," said the professor, causing the gargoyle to move, creating a spiral staircase through which they climbed without inconvenience. Upstairs there was a double oak door, the teacher opened the door and entered with them to give a warning to the principal and then leave.
The office was full of shelves with thousands of books of all sizes, there were also many portraits of people throughout the room. Further inside, in front of a desk, was the director.
"Thank you for telling Professor McGonagall of this inconvenience, Miss Evans, you can leave now," Dumbledore said with a rather friendly smile.
The redhead said goodbye to her friend with her hand and left the office without saying more, leaving the director and the future Death Eater alone. Dumbledore told her to sit in the chair in front of him.
"I'm so sorry to have bothered you, director, I better let you sleep," Little Black began as she began to get up from the chair.
"It's not annoyance, sometimes you have to enjoy life in the moonlight," the director joked, indicating again to sit down. "It seems to have had a bad dream," the old man continued.
"It has only been a nightmare," the girl lied.
"Describe it if it is not annoyance," the man replied.
The girl explained what she had dreamed briefly trying not to sound nervous.
"Blue eyes? Are you sure?" Asked Dumbledore. The girl nodded without giving much explanation. "I have also heard that you have shouted," the director continued. "Had it happened to you?"
The little girl blushed because she was ashamed to know that she had lifted her roommates from the bedroom.
"No," the girl lied again, she knew something like this had happened when her father had lifted her after the nightmare she had.
"Have you had other dreams like this?" Asked the old man again.
"No," Little Black lied again, remembering her previous dreams as Dumbledore stared at her.
"Is there nothing you want to confess to me?" Asked the director kindly.
The girl shook her head.
"Are you sure?" He asked this time with a little curiosity.
"Sure," she lied again, quite convincing.
"Then you can go back to your bedroom," the man replied heavily.
"Thank you, Mr. Director," Calynn replied, leaving the office quickly.
"What were you thinking Lilianne?" The girl snapped when she reached the bedroom.
"Why?" Asked the redhead.
"I don't need the principal to know about my problems with my parents," continued the annoyed little girl who thought everyone in the bedroom was asleep.
"I thought maybe it would be convenient if at least Dumbledore knew it because you could use some protection," Lily explained. That shut up the future Death Eater, who couldn't deny that her friend was right. "You lied to him, right?" The redhead questioned without being able to avoid a tone of annoyance.
"I'm sorry," the girl apologized.
"Okay, I hope you can fix it soon, now we have to sleep," said Lily, who gave her a hug and lay on the cozy bed without saying anything else.
Calynn lay down to sleep without knowing that Meryl had heard everything by her side.
The days passed quickly at Hogwarts, Calynn's favorite classes were Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transformations.
To Lily's good luck, Gryffindor shared DCAO and Potions with Slytherin, although most didn't like them. Thana had also stayed at Slytherin so sometimes she was with them, although generally Calynn sat with Frank in all classes.
The little girl had been good for Quidditch, although she was not fascinated, but James Potter had been good, as if he had played it before. Lily got bored and Frank hadn't been very good at it, although that didn't matter to Calynn.
"I'm a mess for Quidditch," Frank confessed one day walking the grounds returning from his flight class with Lily, Calynn and Meryl.
"But nobody is better than you in Herbology," Calynn replied with a smile.
"I should worry, I'm a mess for all subjects," Meryl commented, laughing at herself.
"That is not true, in DCAO you are not doing so badly, the last class made us earn ten points," said Little Black.
They continued walking outside the castle with a slow pace, ready to return to it when a voice attracted their attention.
"Does anyone notice that foul aroma?" Asked Lucius sarcastically when Gryffindor's group passed in front of them. Frank stopped, like his companions, they were reaching the limit of abiding Malfoy. "How does it feel to get up in the middle of the night by someone who is shouting pleas?" Malfoy teased as his companions laughed. "Mommy, help me, I'm going to die," the boy scoffed as his friends corresponded with laughter.
"Shut up Malfoy," Frank defended Calynn.
"Oh, Calynn, I didn't know you had a boyfriend," the blond teased along with the laughter of his friends, except for Severus, who was inexpressive.
"At least we have people who love us for who we are, not for what we have," added little Black.
"I notice a tone of envy in those words," Lucius dragged the words defiantly.
"You mean pity," Calynn replied.
The blond instinctively pulled his wand out of his pocket, Frank reacted quickly and imitated it with a worried gesture.
"You can't defend your own mother, Longbottom," Malfoy said proudly.
"Frank, you don't need to take out your wand. I assure you, he doesn't even know how to float a feather," the girl challenged him.
"If you want, I can show you," he turned to Calynn.
The girl took out her wand as a precaution while Malfoy's companions urged him to attack the lions while Lily and Meryl tried to make Frank and Calynn lower their guard. Malfoy pointed at Calynn with his wand.
"Densaugeo!" Shouted Lucius. Little Black ducked agilely and the spell struck Meryl unexpectedly. She put her hands to her mouth in horror as her teeth grew larger and longer, causing Slytherin's students to laugh out loud.
"You'll pay it, Malfoy! Calvary!" Frank snapped, casting the spell at the blond who with a quick wand movement protected himself.
"Mr. Malfoy!" Said Professor McGonagall. "Mr. Longbottom?!" She shouted, surprised at who was the boy that had broken the rules. "Save the wands and follow me. You two too," the professor continued, pointing to Calynn and Meryl. The children walked behind the teacher with heaviness and concern from Frank and Calynn. Lily stayed in the garden without knowing exactly what to do.
Second time to the director's office in less than two weeks, if she continued like this, the only thing she would get would be a worse Christmas holiday to those that are already waiting for little Black. They climbed the stairs, although for her luck only they went up one floor.
"Is not the director's office on the third floor?" The girl asked the teacher.
"That's Miss Black, but today I will not take you with the principal, but to my office," the woman confirmed, turning a corner and opening a door that was beyond the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.
They entered and observed a desk in front of cozy reddish chairs, next to them was a beautiful fireplace that was turned off. The teacher sat in front of the two reddish chairs in front of her desk and invited the girls to sit in the chairs in front of her leaving the boys together and standing.
"What were your intentions, Mr. Malfoy, to take out your wand?" Asked the teacher, but before letting him answer, she added. "And don't tell me that you were not the one who started because I saw you"
"To defend my reputation," Lucius said arrogantly.
"Your reputation?" Repeated McGonagall confused.
"I wanted to give those traitors and mudblood what they deserve," Malfoy said contemptuously.
"Ten points less for Slytherin, Mr. Malfoy, and if you say anything else, I will double the punishment you have earned! Everyone should go with the warden into the Forbidden Forest on Monday night. Now leave before you start taking away more points than you already lost!" She exclaimed quite annoyed. "Miss Johnson, don't go," said Minerva, annoyed.
The boys left the office without saying anything until they closed the door.
"What I was missing, a tour to the Forbidden Forest," Frank said worriedly.
"But if it's forbidden, why do we have to go in there?" Little Black exasperated.
"I won't stand a trip to the forest with people like you. My father will find out about this," Lucius said angrily before running to the dungeons.
