Chapter three: Secrets

It had been a week since he had found his friends with that letter. During those days it was impossible to forget about it, the curiosity to find the true meaning did not leave her alone. However, there was another matter that didn't make her very happy either.

A couple of days ago she suspected that Lily was avoiding her since they talked less with each other or simply Lily didn't have enough time to live with her. She knew that she spent most of his time with Severus, but she wondered what was the reason for them not to invite her.

Calynn was alone at home, which she appreciated as she could leave the house without her mother seeing her, she was tired of her insults every time she returned. He took a jacket as he felt quite cold outside and went out to the tree where she knew she could find one of his friends. Although it was the last days of winter, the cold did not fade in its entirety. When she turned the corner, she could see in the distance her red-haired friend who was standing, enjoying the shadow. She reached her and hurried to speak.

"Lily, how are you?" Asked the girl sympathetically. Lily just gave her a smile of discomfort.

"Well, thanks," she replied decently.

"What have you done these days?" Calynn commented, desperately looking for a topic of conversation to break the silence between them.

"Nothing," Lily said, looking down, it was obvious that something had happened between them and Lily didn't want to mention it.

"What's up, Lilianne?" She questioned seriously, not avoiding moving away from Lily.

"Why would something have to happen?" The redhead's obvious reproach tone only angered little Black.

"You don't speak to me for almost a week and you're avoiding me whenever you can." If something bothers you better, tell me," Calynn replied, ending in a huskier voice, the least she wanted was to bother with Lily, she didn't want to have problems with her best friend.

"Nothing bothers me ..." Lily said softly, she wasn't sure what she wanted to mention.

"So?" Calynn replied again, she was losing patience.

"I can't say it, just leave me alone, or so Severus told me." The redhead moved away from that tree at a rapid pace, without turning back, toward her home. Calynn just stayed there without knowing exactly what to do, why would Severus tell Lily to avoid her? After analyzing it for a few minutes, she decided that it was best to return home and get distracted by something, even if she didn't like the idea very much.

She crossed the door reluctantly as she left the house keys next to a portrait of her parents, but what she saw left her stunned. Her parents who appeared in the photo began to move, smiling and hugging, the little girl did not believe it.

"Perfect, what I was missing, losing my mind," the girl sighed as she turned the picture to forget about that illusion, that image seemed entirely out of the ordinary. "I think that even the nonsense of Severus I have begun to believe," she commented to herself as she climbed the steps to her room.

Something he had always disliked were the dark colors with which her house had been decorated, she hated them since she was little, or at least something she remembered. She had always dreamed of having a room with more vivid colors, that was what she remembered that she had asked her mother a couple of days ago, where she had explained that her room would stay that way since it was the visiting room before. The girl opened the door of her dark room and lay on the bed, had turned to the side where there was an empty space, knew that some toy had been around, but on her eleventh birthday her mother had forced her to get rid of all those "nonsense" that decorated her room; or so his father had told her what had happened when she asked if she could buy him a doll. So she was totally alone, she had nothing better to do than sleep until she gave the other day, she knew that without Lily and without Severus she had no one, her parents would take time to return and Thana had gone to visit her family as sometimes she did it, she was alone.

She thought she had fallen asleep when an image began to form before her eyes, it was a silhouette wearing a black robe, but she was too blurry to observe that person's face. They pushed her hard from behind and she felt she was walking, accompanied by a fear inside her entire body. There was a moment when she stood in front of that silhouette with his head down without feeling the tremors of her body and a pair of crystalline tears that rolled on his cheeks.

"We brought it to you, my lord," said a barely audible voice, the little girl failed to recognize it.

In that same moment she felt that something was strongly pressing on her that caused her pain, when out of nowhere a voice in reality took her out of her dreams.

"Shut up that brat!" Druella shouted from the next room as her father approached her and took her by the shoulders to try to reassure her.

"Nothing happened, everything is fine," the man said as Calynn's shoulders rose and fell rapidly thanks to her agitated breathing. She had not had a nightmare like that long ago, she felt them so real that she woke up in fear, although she did not fully understand how she had been able to raise her parents. From the low light coming from outside it was evident that it was late at night.

"Thanks dad," the little girl said affectionately as she circled the man with both arms, showing her the love she felt for him.

The next morning, when Calynn managed to go out into the garden, she did so in a stealthy way to get to listen to his friends without their immutation. She went as close as he could to that tree, hiding in the bushes that surrounded it so he could hear better.

"And how do you choose the house in which you stay?" Lily asked the boy with a smile on her lips.

"The sorting hat tells you," Calynn thought she had heard badly, there could not be a talking hat. Also, what did they mean by "houses"?

"How do you know?" the girl expressed with astonishment and showing a greater interest.

"My mother told me, she was raffled off by Slytherin as soon as the hat touched her head, she expects the same from me," he finished somewhat proudly.

"Is your mother a witch too? How exiting! You must know a lot about the magical world thanks to her," Lily commented. Severus just gave her a nod. "Why don't they let us do magic until we enter school? Why don't they give us a wand to practice since childhood?" Lily continued with her questions as she took a flower from the ground and blew so that all the petals flew out.

"Because we really cannot control our powers at this age, they are present, but not under our control. That's why we need to go to school, to learn to control them and occupy them to our benefit," explained the boy.

"What do they teach at Hogwarts? Is it like a normal school?" the redhead questioned without finishing quenching her curiosity.

"You mean Muggle school?" Asked the boy. Lily didn't know what she meant very well.

"What is a Muggle?"

"I had explained it to you once," said the boy, but avoiding bothering, he kept talking. "Muggle refers to objects or people without magic, which do not belong to the magical world. That's why the school you go to is Muggle since they don't teach magic," he replied, "In Hogwarts they will teach you how to handle the wand, enchantments, defense spells, Quidditch; all about the magical world," he explained enthusiastically as he listed everything he had said before.

"I want to enter Hogwarts!" Cried Lily. "We'll be in the same grade, maybe in the same house," she commented as Severus only gave her a smile, until Lily changed her face from happiness to one of sadness. "But are Calynn and Thana muggles?"

"I don't know, apparently yes, but I'm not sure," he said.

"How can we know? What happens if we reveal our world to Muggle people?" Asked Lily, quite anguished.

"That's why I told you to stay away until they give us a signal, either of us, we can't take a chance," he began. "Also, take the opportunity to be with me. Calynn is too sentimental and childish to understand," he finished slightly angry.

At that precise moment, the ground where Severus was began to become increasingly soft until it became what looked like a quicksand. Lily panicked as she didn't know exactly what to do, she was horrified. The redhead began trying to pull her friend out of that place when a person came to her side to observe the situation.

"Calynn, did you do this?" Asked Lily as she helped Severus.

The girl remained silent. Actually, she wasn't sure she had done it, she was quite far away when the ground began to change, how could she have done it?

After a silence, Severus spoke.

"Definitely she is not a muggle." A print gesture formed on his face as Lily helped him out of the mess that her friend had unconsciously caused.
