Chapter six: The Letter

Little Black had hardly slept at all, she had spent the night thinking about the world of possibilities that were now in her hands. She felt magical even when she had never done magic with a wand, she felt powerful and valuable, she already wanted to start using her powers.

She got out of bed, thought she had barely slept for about two hours, but the adrenaline and enthusiasm took away her sleep, it was as if she now lived flooded in her thoughts, she was sure that she had never been so surprised and amazed with any news like with which they had just given her yesterday.

Breakfast passed quietly, her parents did not speak to her, but she was the one who started asking the questions she had thought all night.

"When can I do magic?" She asked neither of them in particular.

"When you go to school," Druella replied without giving any details.

"What school? I will finally go to school!" The girl answered with joy. Druella didn't answer anything, apparently she didn't want to give more explanations of what she had already said. "Will I have a wand?"

"Yes," said Druella, unable to avoid a smile on her face. Calynn dedicated herself to making some leaps of joy while her parents watched her without any expression.

"Mom, lend me your wand, show me something please," Little Black pleaded as she touched her mother's hand insistently, she just moved it a little disgustedly.

"No, later, you'll learn," she said angrily. "Now finish breakfast"

The girl was disappointed a little after the response that her mother had given her until she simply continued with the spoonfuls of her cereal, she had no alternative, just wait, although she did not understand exactly why she should do it, she wanted to develop her powers from an early age.

Once she finished breakfast, she quickly got up from the table and went to the door to go out to the garden, she was impatient to tell Lily and Severus that event, she knew they would know something about magic, at last after all, she was listening to them talk about magic. She was about to leave when her mother's arm stopped her.

"Where are you going?" the woman questioned with certain mockery in the voice. Calynn was going to talk when her father did it from the kitchen table.

"Druella, my dear," the man began dragging the words, as he almost never spoke, "let her go to see her friends, I am sure she will want to discover more about the magical world with them."

"It's fine, but only for a while." Druella released her daughter with some reproach. "But come back in time for the meal, I will not wait for you again like a few days ago," she finished while the girl only responded with a nod.

"Thank you!" Calynn snapped before leaving her home, closing the door behind her.

"If you keep her from doing what she likes, she'll start to suspect and we don't want that. The last thing we need is for a Muggle daughter to know about our plans, right?" Cygnus commented when the girl was gone.

"I know, that's why we'll have to start now, soon some of them will know what we want to do and they will make things more complicated," Druella finished with some anger before getting up from the table.

Calynn walked quickly to that majestic tree where she knew she could find some of her friends until in the background she could glimpse the redhead who greeted her with a smile. The girl was carrying an open envelope and the brightness of her eyes announced that it was good news. Calynn was about to arrive when she realized that she had forgotten that her friend's birthday was that same day, she was totally blamed for forgetting it.

"Congratulations my friend!" Said Calynn before letting the redhead speak. Both joined in a hug, with a huge smile. Calynn enjoyed that moment, she knew that it had been a bit silly to have bothered Lily about what had happened a few days ago, after all, they had told her the truth, she was a witch.

"Thank you! Yesterday I looked for you, but without success," said the redhead with some regret. "Forgive Severus, he's a little awkward to relate to others," she said to her friend, a little embarrassed.

"Don't worry, what do you have there?" The girl asked trying to change the subject quickly, she had already overcome what had happened to continue talking about it.

"I received the letter today!" the redhead expressed, making some jumps with great energy, she looked completely happy.

"What letter?" Asked Calynn, somewhat surprised.

"Are your parents muggles or don't know you're a witch?"

"Muggles? What's that?"

"According to Severus, there are three types of blood in the magical world," the girl began to explain. "The pure-blood wizards, who retain a perfect lineage in their ancestry, although I believe that it is practically impossible," she said rolling her eyes; half-blood is when one of the parents has pure blood and the other is Muggle" She paused. "And the mudbloods are those that come from two Muggle parents, without magic. I enter that group, although I prefer to say "daughter of Muggles," said the girl.

"Severus told you all that?" She asked curiously, if so, maybe she could talk a lot with him about the magical world now that she knew it belonged to him too

"Yes, apparently his parents have explained a lot about the magical world," said Lily.

"I think I'm pure blood, or at least something like that, my mother said yesterday. They have finally revealed to me that I am a witch! They have even taught me how they can occupy a wand" Calynn was more than happy, now she could share everything about this world with Lily and Severus, "I expected Severus to tell them more interesting things"

"But if you are pure blood, you are supposed to have known about your powers for years." Lily was quite surprised that she didn't know despite the purity of her blood. "How weird"

"And what is the letter you were talking about?" The girl asked curiously.

"It's from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry," she said. "Can you imagine how wonderful it will be to go to the same school to study magic! It's like a dream come true," she said as she shook the envelope, she was very excited.

"When will my letter arrive?" Calynn was also very excited to be able to go to school with her best friends.

"When did you tell me that was your birthday?" Asked the slightly embarrassed redhead, she thought it was the third time she asked her and was not able to memorize the date.

"May twenty-fifth, why?" It was obvious that the question had been strange.

"That day will come to you," she replied. "Severus told me the same thing and look, today it came to me," said the girl with a smile on her lips.

"That day will be amazing," the girl commented as she hugged her friend. Out of nowhere, the drops that had already promised a storm that day began to fulfill it, so the girls were forced to say goodbye, but they agreed to meet the next day, both had many questions to ask Severus and too many emotions to share

Calynn walked as fast as she could to her home while trying not to slip with the excess water that began to form in the cracks in the pavement back home. She wondered if when she was older she would be able to decide the weather of the day with a single wand movement.

She managed to open the door easily, but found that the entire interior was too dark to observe anything. The girl instinctively looked for the electricity switch, but before she could do it, she felt her mouth cover and fit a wand in her neck without being able to move while being directed through that dark room without being able to see anything. Fear began to run from head to toe, she had never felt so threatened and helpless in a situation.

She walked as she could until her legs collided with what looked like a piece of furniture and realized that it was a chair as soon as a voice, similar to her father's, forced her to sit down. Since she did not want to obey, the man pushed her hard until she had sat down as she had been ordered. The girl was still with her mouth covered, making her breath even a little bit until a voice caught her attention.

"Lumos!" Her mother's voice rang in her ears and at that moment he managed to observe Druella's face being illuminated by a point of light in the darkness and it was there that she could only give a gasp.
