Chapter fourteen: Diagon Alley part 1
It was a sunny morning, the weather had improved a lot the day before. Lily got up before her friend, took her clothes carefully and left the room to change. When she came back she had a lot of clothes carrying on her arms, she dropped a sock and slipped down to the ground while making a fuss. She got up as fast as she could and saw her friend sitting on her bed looking at her.
"Are you fine?" The girl asked before giving a yawn while she removed the hair of the face.
"Yes, nothing to worry about," said the redhead, picking up her clothes. "Go back to sleep."
The little girl shook her head as she rose from the bed.
"I can't sleep when I know we're going to the alley today..." She paused for the words, had a hard time remembering that name, "Diagonal?," Calynn ask with a smile.
"Yes! The earlier we are ready, the longer they let us be," Lily said, fixing her clothes as quickly as she could.
"I'm going to change," Calynn said as she ran from the room.
The girl collided with a girl a little taller than she recognized as Lily's sister when I heard her claim.
"Look where you are going, monster!" Shouted the angry Petunia. The gesture she dedicated to Calynn was one of deep hatred.
"And you wake up at once, filthy muggle!" The future Death Eater snapped, she couldn't stand Lily's sister.
Petunia did not see her again and continued on her way while Calynn did the same. The girl felt bad for having answered that way to her friend's sister, she knew that they both didn't get along very well but it wasn't her house to behave that way.
When little Black returned to the room her friend had already made the beds and was waiting for her to go down to breakfast.
"You've met my sister, right?" Asked Lily seriously.
Calynn blushed, she was sure that her friend had heard her conversation with Petunia.
"I'm sorry," the little girl stammered.
"Don't worry, I also think Tunney can be a bit annoying," Lily said with a laugh. "We're going down to breakfast, I don't think my sister wants to be there after meeting you, she's very spiteful."
Both girls went down the wooden stairs and greeted Lily's parents like every day, sat in their usual places and ate their breakfast quickly.
Someone knocked on the door and the whole family was startled, Lily's father opened and they knew it was Severus upon hearing his voice.
"Mother," Lily called Mrs. Evans.
"Yes?" Said the woman looking at her daughter.
"I was wondering if today we could go with Severus to Diagon Alley," said Lily pleadingly and finishing with a little work. The name of the alley was not easy to remember for either of the two little ones.
The mother thought for a moment, but then nodded. Not that he didn't want to take them, but that she was afraid to leave the girls in a place alone and maybe Calynn's parents were looking for her.
"But we take them, okay?" Asked the woman, addressing the children. Everyone nodded.
They finished their breakfast in peace while Severus waited for them at the entrance of the house so that, as soon as they finished, they went to that place. Both girls couldn't hide how excited they were.
"Where is?" Asked Lily's father once they were inside the car.
"It's in the Dripping Cauldron," Severus began, "on Charing Cross Road."
"All right, thank you very much, I think I know the place," the father replied as he started the car.
The children were in the back of the car slightly tight, they were so excited that they were eager to arrive. Lily had her head resting on Severus' shoulder, who touched her red hair. After about half an hour, the family arrived in front of a pub that seemed abandoned.
"Are you sure it's here?" The parents asked with some mistrust, the place looked completely abandoned, no person would dare to enter a place with that first impression.
Lily and Calynn nodded with a smile on their faces as they imitated Severus and quickly got out of the car. They said goodbye to Lily's parents before entering the pub and stayed outside until they lost sight of the car.
"Well, follow me," Severus said, taking command and starting to walk with the girls following in his footsteps.
The boys entered the pub while everyone present looked at them, Lily closed the door ringing the old bell, the same one that little Black had remembered. They went all over the place until they reached the bottom and went out the back door without saying a word. The back was not very large, there was only one brick wall.
"And now that?" Asked the redhead, quite bewildered.
"I remember... that my father," Severus said a little nervous, "told me that you had to squeeze the right bricks." He paused and continued, "I think they were three horizontal and two vertical."
The boy squeezed some bricks and magically the wall began to open showing people with pointed hats buying and walking around the place and shops everywhere with their windows full of products that the magicians watched with interest.
The children walked and the brick wall began to close again just behind them with nature.
"Watch that!" Calynn said without restraint, "this is magical, "she commented as she saw some brooms rising in the air."
"Amazing!" Said Lily, watching a store full of owls.
"I think we should start," Severus said as he began to walk.
"Where do we go first, Severus?" Asked Lily, following the boy.
"We need money," said the boy. "We must go to Gringotts."
"Gringotts?" Both girls asked strangely.
"The bank of the magicians," Severus said, losing patience. "Follow me," He rolled his eyes.
Everyone walked down the alley looking at each store and what it sold, owls often passed flying owls, or children gathered in shop windows.
"Here it is," Severus said, pointing to the highest store in the alley.
"Amazing," the two girls said, contemplating the height of the bench, staying to admire the structure.
They entered the bank and found a long corridor, on the sides were strange extremely dwarf creatures, they seemed too focused on their work, but still the creatures turned to see them as if they were plotting something. They reached a high desk where one of those creatures was working on some coins.
"Good morning," Lily whispered with some fear.
The creature looked up and made a face at the sight of the girl.
"We've come to get money from our vault," Severus said determinedly and without courtesy, apparently he knew how to treat those creatures.
"And what are their names?" Asked the creature coldly.
"Severus Snape Prince," he said proudly.
"Calynn Black Rosier." She mentioned with some regret.
The creature looked up at the last name Black, but kept writing their names in a book quickly.
"Lilianne Evans," Lily finished, she knew that, compared to her friends, her last name sounded totally muggle.
The creature nodded and then gave Severus and Calynn a key. Lily was a little thoughtful and thoughtful.
"And my key... sir?" Asked Lily fearfully.
"You don't have a vault, but I'll open one for you." He said coldly and quite annoyingly.
After a moment of waiting, the creature handed a key to the redhead.
"Grinkeek will lead you to his vault," the creature said, pointing to another dwarf who was waiting next to a kind of transport, he waited for them to come over to give them some directions.
"You can get on here," said his sharp voice, pointing to one of the vehicles.
The friends got on as they could since the vehicle was too small and before the expected the creature had started the vehicle and was driving at full speed until it stopped dead and the children collided with each other.
The creature descended from the vehicle quickly and unwillingly.
"Mr. Snape!" He called loudly.
Severus handed him the key and the creature opened the vault quickly and handed him the key again. The creature pulled the heavy door showing the bright interior of the vault.
Severus came in and put a few gold coins in his pocket.
"Lily!" Severus called her "this would suit you." The boy showed him a golden locket with a green stone inside. It looked like an artifact with enough age, the boy had assumed that this was a relic of his mother.
"It's pretty, Severus," said the redhead, nodding, although it was really something she wouldn't wear.
Severus left the locket and continued to collect more coins. After a while he left the vault sitting in the vehicle while the creature closed the door again.
Suddenly they were already walking at full speed and stopped dead again, this time the friends no longer collided, had no longer taken them entirely by surprise.
"Miss Black!" Called the creature.
The future Death Eater left the vehicle and handed the key to the creature. When the door opened, the girl let out a cry of amazement. Inside there were hundreds of thousands of gold coins, as well as jewels and precious stones, she was struck by a completely gold cup that poked between the coins and the jewels. She was stunned, never imagined that all of that could be hers.
"Is that my vault?" She asked in surprise as they returned her key.
"That's right, Miss," the creature replied.
The little girl entered the vault and began to collect many gold coins until she filled two large bags of cloth. Each time she collected a coin she was finding more and more.
"Do you think these are enough?" The little girl asked her friends showing them the bags full of coins.
"I think they're even more," said Severus, laughing slightly.
Calynn smiled and left the vault happily. She still didn't believe she owned all of that. Although deep down she also knew that, in reality, all the contents of that vault were owned by her parents.
"Now only my vault is missing," Lily said enthusiastically.
"Miss Evans," Grinkeek began as the children turned to see him, "your vault is empty as it was opened a few minutes ago."
"I only bring these coins," Lily said as she pulled out a few coins of Muggle money and blushed.
"In a moment I exchange them for magic money," he said coldly.
The children waited outside Calynn's vault for Grinkeek to arrive. Lily felt a little bad as she was the only one who really had almost no currency.
"If the coins don't reach you, I can buy you whatever you need," said the little girl, trying to comfort her friend.
"Thank you," said the redhead, giving a grateful smile.
The creature had returned with a bag of coins and handed it to Lily.
"Do you like to keep them in your vault, Miss Evans?" Grinkeek asked, it was obvious that the creature expected his response to be negative.
"No, thanks," Lily replied cordially.
"Then get on, I have to get them out of here," the creature ordered a little annoyed.
The friends got on and held on tight as they traveled at full speed until they reached the place where they had entered that passageway of different vaults and slowly descended from the vehicle, they could not all get down at the same time.
"Thank you," Lily began. "Bye." Of all the boys, Lily was the friendliest of all.
The creature did not answer, but Lily did not bother.
They walked into the hall through which they had entered while the intimidating glances of the creatures followed them until they left the bank.
