Chapter fifteen: Diagon Alley part 2

When the three friends left the marble bank, they removed their list from the golden envelope of Hogwarts and read it, looked up and looked at the facades of the old buildings.

"I think we should look for a store where they sell tunics," Lily commented as she searched for a store that sold those robes, but among so many people it was impossible.

They began to walk through the long alley watching each shop window waiting to find the robes. The girls were amazed, anyone who saw them could know that it was the first time they passed by.

"This alley is huge," Calynn said, admiring every place in the alley, her eyes were bright with how amazed she was.

They kept walking and the heat knocked them down until the two girls took off the sweater they had been wearing since they left, they knew they had to carry it, but the heat was unbearable.

"Aren't you warm, Severus?" Asked Lily kindly.

"No, I'm fine, thanks," replied.

"Why don't you take off the sweater, Severus?" It looks like you're warm," Calynn said this time, quite surprised.

"I'm fine," Severus began, "don't worry," he added to change the subject. "Look, there is the store," he said as he pointed to a purple room that had a shop window full of robes, scarves and hats of all colors.

The boys headed towards the store running. On the facade of this one, with golden letters, it had the name "Madame Malkin, tunics for all occasions." They entered through one of the doors of the store and addressed a plump older lady who was measuring a girl about her age who greeted them with her hand.

"Don't move, please," the old woman said sweetly.

"Good morning," Lily began politely to attract the attention of the store attendants.

The old woman was startled, turned to see who was talking to her and smiled at the redhead.

"Good morning, little ones," said the woman, "how can I help you?"

"We've come to buy our uniform," Lily explained enthusiastically.

"Hogwarts, right?" the old woman questioned looking at the envelopes that the children brought, she was almost sure that it was Hogwarts.

The friends nodded and the woman stopped doing her job to accommodate them in a row. Calynn was next to the girl the old woman was measuring.

"Hello," Calynn called the girl.

The girl turned around and Calynn could see her gray eyes and golden hair that rested on the little girl's shoulders.

"Hello," the girl replied politely. "Alecto Carrow," the blonde said.

"Calynn Black," the girl introduced herself with a smile on her face.

The blonde was perplexed to hear the last name Black, she had an astonished face, but said nothing. Immediately, Calynn noticed that gesture, which she did not like at all, was it possible that this girl knew her parents?

"What happen?" Calynn asked when she saw the girl's face.

"Nothing, don't worry," the blonde said, giving little Black a smile without saying anything else.

"It is done!" Said the old woman. She left the room for a moment and after a moment she returned with very beautiful robes and handed them to the blonde after receiving a few gold coins.

The little blonde thanked the old woman and turned to Calynn.

"I hope to see you again," she began. I guess you'll stay in Slytherin," she added. Calynn didn't know what to answer to that, she didn't really know what house she should stay in. "See you later," the blonde said goodbye to the silence of little Black.

The girl followed the blonde with her eyes until she disappeared. That little moment was in her head for a few seconds without finding an explanation until a voice brought it to reality.

"Let's see what we have here," said the old woman's voice sweetly.

The woman began to measure her as a younger woman headed towards them to help the old woman.

"Can you take off your sweater or roll up your sleeves so I can measure you please?" Said the girl sweetly.

Severus, who was next to Calynn, denied while tightening the black sweater sleeve tightly to his left arm. The young woman rolled up her right sleeve and began to measure it, unable to hide a gesture of reluctance.

"Ready, little girl." Said the old woman as she left the room and left through a door that led to a room full of clothes. After a moment the woman returned with totally new robes folded into a bag. "Here you are cute," the old woman finished handing her the bag.

"I also need a black hat, protective gloves and a winter cape," the little girl said, reading one of the last paragraphs of the Hogwarts materials letter, trying not to sound very impertinent.

-Oh sure! I forgot," the old woman exclaimed as she returned at a rapid pace to the door, opened it abruptly and pulled out what was necessary. She closed the door quickly and handed everything to Calynn while she paid her with shiny gold coins. Little Black went to investigate the store, found beautiful clothes of all colors, and tried on occasional hat that was interesting.

"So, do you allow me?" Asked a young voice with a certain tone of despair.

Calynn looked at where her friends were and saw Severus refusing to show his left arm. At his side was Lily who the lovely old woman was measuring.

No," said the long-haired boy bluntly.

Calynn continued to watch the shop windows with such admiration until a shout made her stick against the yellow wall, after the blow she turned and saw Severus arguing with the woman.

"I need to see your arm to take measures!" The woman repeated to him aloud, losing the little patience she had left.

"Do it with the sleeve, I don't plan to roll it up," Severus curtly and cross his arms. Calynn hated those kinds of attitudes of his friend.

"Do it like that, dear," the old woman ordered sweetly.

The young woman began to measure his arm reluctantly while the old woman and the redhead talked about how excited Lily was to enter Hogwarts.

"I want to know which house I will go to," Lily said, demonstrating how excited she was to finally enter school.

The old woman just smiled and nodded while doing her job. She remembered her own experiences in that school and the enthusiasm she had at the time she received her letter.

Calynn dedicated himself to seeing the different types of clothes that the store sells and gave her the attention of a kind of brown coat that was hung along with other pieces of clothing. She took the cape and tried it on, stood in front of a mirror to be able to contemplate better and what she saw led her to shout in amazement. Her friends and the owners of the store turned to see her with concern and the only ones who were amazed were her friends not seeing her body, but her head.

"What happened to you?" The children asked in unison, without a little worry.

"I don't know, but it's magical," the girl replied as she removed her cloak from her top and her body was visible again. "How much does one of these costs?" Asked the little girl, pointing to the brown cape.

"I'm afraid it's too expensive for you little girl," the woman replied kindly.

"I suppose I can pay it," said the little one while remembering all the coins she had taken out of her vault and also everything he had kept inside, somehow, she had to have all those riches her parents had recovered.

The old woman told her the amount and Calynn chose a cape to buy it.

When the young woman who was measuring Severus finished her work and handed her his clothes, she went with Calynn to collect her cloak.

Severus and Calynn sat in a crimson armchair that was by the door to wait for Lily. A boy with jet hair and round glasses entered the store and found the old woman's assistant.

"Hello, beautiful, do you think you could help me?" The boy told her with an arrogant tone.

The woman guided him in a place next to the redhead.

"There you are, sweetie!" The old woman shouted when she finished with Lily, both had gotten along quite well with the little they had talked.

"Thank you," the redhead replied cordially as she paid the old woman who handed her the purchase.

The jet-haired boy watching from where he was very interested, had had something in the girl's hair and in her eyes that had attracted the attention of that boy with glasses and arrogant attitude.

"Let's go," Lily said when she had met her friends, who nodded and left the store without saying goodbye to the owners.

"What has that been Severus?" Calynn asked annoyed, she didn't know why they had occasional problems because of very silly things.

"I don't like to take off my sweater," Severus apologized. "Besides, it was nothing, in the end she had to do things as I told her"

The little girl shook her head not very conveniently of what her friend had told her, she was still slightly upset by those attitudes, but it was better not to talk about the matter, in the end the boy had obtained what he had asked for.

"Look at all those books!" The redhead said while running to a store that was next to the one that had come full of books.

Unlike the tunic shop, this was a brown color, also in gold letters you could read Flourish and Blotts.

The friends entered the place and watched in wonder the tall shelves full of books of all colors and sizes, they were surprised to see that the store had two floors and the second floor was as extensive as the first.

None knew where to start since they had no idea what category each shelf was.

"Can I help you guys with something?" Asked a voice that took them out of their self-absorption.

The boys turned to see the man who had spoken to them, he was tall and looked a little old.

"We came to buy our first-year books," Calynn said.

"What titles do you need?" The man asked curiously.

Little Black handed him the list of books that came inside Hogwarts's envelope.

"Do all three need the same?" Asked the man once after reading the entire list.

The three friends nodded and went to look for books of interest while the man brought them the books they needed for school.

Lily found a book about magical creatures, another that talked about elves with one on the cover, but ended up buying one of small stories of stories related to magic.

Friends were still looking for books when two children about their age entered the bookstore.

"You don't know her, Avery," said a blond, pale-skinned boy.

"She's a Black, Malfoy, she must be perfect," said the boy, laughing.

Hearing that, the little girl turned to see the children, Severus and Lily who were next to her looked at her in bewilderment.

"Do you know how Bellatrix tells her?" Asked the albino.

His companion shook his head, showing little interest in the subject, but without the blond noticing.

"Cissy!" Malfoy shouted before laughing out loud.

"It's common to have nicknames among brothers," the other replied indifferently. The blond stopped laughing and gave him a reproachful look, he wanted his game to be follow.

Little Black listened attentively to the conversation of friends when a voice interrupted her.

"Here are your books," the man told them as they handed each one a bag with their corresponding books.

After thanking the man and paying him, they were about to leave when the couple who had entered a few minutes ago stopped them.

"Lucius Malfoy," the blond said as he watched them from head to toe, "and Avery," the blond added, pointing at his companion with his head. "And your names are?" The blond continued raising his eyebrows, performing a look of superiority and intimidating at the same time.

"Severus Snape," the boy began with a smile on his lips, apparently Severus liked to mention his last name.

"Lily Evans," said the redhead in an annoyed tone.

"It is none of your business," said the future death eater sharply, she really didn't want another reaction like the one she had gotten in the tunic shop with that girl named Carrow.

"Snape?" Said both boys surprised. "What are you doing in this alley with this group of..." He paused, thinking about the words, "unknown? You have no issues to fix with Bellatrix?" the boy questioned, attracting the attention of both girls.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Malfoy," the boy replied seriously.

"You're the traitor, I'm not," the blond finished the conversation. "Evans? Who are your parents?" Asked the blond without letting Severus answer to the previous comments, which bothered the boy quite a bit.

"They are Muggles," Lily replied indifferently. "They are not important"

"I see," the blond said, grimacing that Severus apparently didn't notice. "So, who are your parents?" The boys asked Calynn.

"It's none of your business either," said the determined girl with her arms folded, trying to hold all the books she carried with her.

"Come on, or are you ashamed?" The blond teased, dragging the words.

Calynn felt that her eyes were filling with tears after that comment, but she was not allowed to cry in front of them. She remained silent for a moment and then added.

"Not at all. I am very proud to be their daughter," the little girl lied, "but I am not strutting in front of everyone and shouting who my parents are seeking acceptance from others," Calynn said in a low voice, but trying to sound the most furious possible, "and if you allow us, we want to continue with our visit to the alley, I'm sure you have other more important people to bother, Malfoy," the girl finished pulling the blond away and leaving the store with her head held high leaving both boys dumbed down.

"Come on," the redhead whispered, leading her friend to a secluded place so they could be calm and talk about the matter alone.

They sat on a bench and Calynn began to cry.

"He's right," the little girl said between sobs, "I'm ashamed of my parents."

There was a moment where only the girl's sobs were heard. Lily thought of the words that could comfort the future Death Eater.

"It's not worth taking his opinion," Lily said, trying to comfort her friend. "He is just an arrogant and immature child"

Calynn was still crying and had her head down while she looked at the things they had bought so far and remembered that there were still many things to buy yet and three hours had passed since they had been left in front of the Leaky Cauldron.

"I'm fine," Calynn said, stopping crying and standing up, surprising her friends.

"Sure?" the redhead asked without understanding the sudden change of humor, generally the girl was not that way.

"Yes, on the move, there are still many things to buy."

The three friends left the hiding place where they had gone to be alone and began to walk down the alley very quickly to start looking for things that were still missing from that list.
