"Henry come on kick the ball!" The older kids say to mock him. They know he stinks at sports.

      "Hey, leave him alone!" Denise says.

     "Sure, whatever girl!"  One of the older boys says.

    Denise and Henry go to a separate part of the playground together. It is recess time and they are in preschool.  Yet, they are already friends on the first day!

   The teacher sees how well Denise gets along with Henry and smiles. She thinks it is nice he made a friend.  She has a feeling the future has great things in mind for them. Then, again who is to say?  They are just three and fours years old right now.

   The bell rings to signal the end of recess. As all the other students line up, Henry hesitates to leave the schoolyard, and Denise smiles at him.  She gets in the back of the line and he stands next to her and holds her hand. He refuses to leave her side.
