Chapter Twenty-One

Patrick

"Well don't you look pretty." I hear my mom tell Ella from downstairs.

Looking over myself in the mirror one last time, I straighten the collar on my pink button up shirt and close the door to my room, thudding down the steps into the foyer. Ella is wearing this black floor length dress with a black cardigan covering her arms. She looks stunning, but I hate the fact that she doesn't like her arms, because to me they're just fine. It's not like they're big or anything, but she says they bother her immensely.

My mom is still standing there admiring the two of us when I give Ella a kiss on the cheek. We're just going to the movies, and I would have picked her up, but my dad needed the car tonight.

"I need a picture." My mom gushes, pulling out her phone from her back pocket.

I narrow my eyes at her, letting out a huge sigh. "Mom, this isn't prom." I mutter. "Please, stop"

"I don't mind a picture." Ella smiles, glancing towards her. "You can take one."

That seems to make her entire day because she smiles from ear to ear, turning the phone sideways and ushering us to form some sort of a pose. Ella stands there awkwardly not knowing what to do until I grab her suddenly, pressing my lips to hers and dipping her back towards the floor. My mom and I both laugh, Ella erupting into giggles once I end the kiss.

"Patrick!" She laughs more in disbelief, her face completely red. She straightens out her dress and looks at my mom again. "What time should we be home?"

With a wave of her hand, she gives us an eye roll and smiles. "Oh, anytime is fine. Just have fun."

Trying to hide the shock, we say goodbye and head to her car, but not before I grab the keys from her so that I can drive. I feel bad enough as it is that we have to drive her car to our date.

"I should have started dating you a long time ago." I chuckle, sliding into the driver's seat. "No curfew? My mom seriously loves you."

"No curfew is pretty great." She smirks, arching her eyebrow up at me. I see her eyes get this seductive look to them as she bites slightly on her lower lip.

"And what's that supposed to mean?" I smirk back, mimicking my eyebrows like hers.

I reach over to grab onto her hand and hold it tightly before she leans over the console and kisses my cheek. She doesn't let up though, moving her kisses to my neck, which causes me to laugh and slightly pull away. "You want this car to crash?" I chuckle. "Stop that."

__________

After the movie lets out we start to head back to the car. We went to go and see some horror movie that Ella wanted to watch, but I don't think we watched a second of it. As soon as we sat down in the back row and the lights went out, she immediately started to kiss me, pulling me into her. I didn't know how to react at first, I just smiled into the kiss and put the armrest up that was between us, pulling her closer. Her tongue slipped inside my mouth, her hands running down my chest. I've been craving her since the night on the beach, and I don't think I can hold out much longer from trying to make it happen again.

I stayed frustrated for the remainder of the movie, and now that we're back in the car I'm just trying to think of anything else but her right now. It doesn't seem to be working though.

"That was a good movie." She says, twirling a curl around her fingertips. She's staring at me intensely with that same look that's telling me she's turned on right now. It's a look I haven't seen from her before until tonight, but I certainly love it.

"It was." I can hardly choke out.

Pulling out of the parking lot, I begin to drive back towards my house until she clears her throat, forcing me to look at her. "Hm?" I ask.

"Do you know of a spot that nobody goes to? Like, a place that we can be alone?"

I'm smiling uncontrollably now, almost in disbelief that she's being so confident. I love the effect I'm having on her, because this is a version of Ella I've never seen before. It's certainly hot though. I'll give her that.

"I might." I smirk more, leaning over to place my hand on her thigh. "What did you have in mind?"

"Come on." She blushes, bringing her thumbnail up to her mouth to bite it. I notice she does this whenever she's nervous. "Don't make me say it."

Giving in, I drive for about fifteen minutes until we reach a dirt road. I only know of this place because Drew's taken me here a couple of times to smoke pot. It's in the middle of nowhere, and when I place the car in park she doesn't waste any time. Her seatbelt is off and she climbs on top of me in the driver's seat, straddling my thighs.

My lips find hers, my fingers trailing slowly to the ends of her dress so I can put my hands up it. Her confidence is radiating off of her in this moment, not a shy bone in her body. I'm trying to keep up with her, but that's almost impossible. Her fingers are trying to un-do the buttons of my shirt, so I help her out as I kiss her down her neck, down to her collarbone, becoming breathless.

"Patrick." She moans my name, and I just let out a laugh from how turned I am, my shirt finally becoming unbuttoned. I run my hands back up her dress, finally finding her underwear, trying desperately to tear them down. I've never felt this way about a girl before. I've never craved someone more than I've craved her.

"This is... uncomfortable." She finally breathes out, pulling away for a second. "I don't like sitting like this."

I nod my head and glance towards the backseat, instructing her to climb back there. It's an awkward move, but I wait until she's on her back and climb back there too so that I can settle down on top of her.

"Better?" I whisper.

She pulls me back down to attach her lips once more to mine, the need for her growing more intensely than it ever has. Her dress is off within seconds, my hands fumbling with my belt to try and get it off. I notice that the windows are all fogging up, enclosing this car that feels like a sanctuary right now. I never thought Ella would ever want to do this in a car, let alone have it be her idea.

"What?" She giggles, running her hands down my chest.

I can barely make out her face from it being pitch black, but I know in this moment that she looks so beautiful right now. I can see her eyes looking like she wants me and nothing but me, her porcelain skin reflecting off of the radio lights of her car. "I'm so in love with you." I breathe out, my tone completely serious. The joking has stopped, the laughing fades, and all I want is her.

She doesn't know how to respond to me, she just rests her head back on the seat as I continue to kiss down her chest. I feel her nails sink down a little into my back from the feeling, causing me to rest my forehead against hers.

She clears her throat suddenly, swallowing hard. "Did you, um, bring a-"

I lean over and grab my shorts from the ground, pulling out a condom from the pocket before I send her a sly grin. "I had a feeling." I chuckle, reattaching my lips to hers.

___________

I'm breathing heavily once we've finished, the faint tune of the radio surrounding the car. I can't see anything through the fogged up windows. All I can see is Ella beneath me smiling from ear to ear.

I kiss her once more before I sit up and grab my shirt from the front seat of the car, passing her the dress. "That was..." I trail off, unsure of what to say. That was the best time I think I've ever had.

"Yeah." She giggles, turning her back to face me. "Hey, can you help me with this please?"

She's got both clasps of her bra in her hands, so I gently take them from her and put them securely into the hooks, helping her with her zipper of her dress as well when she puts it back on. I like the fact that she's not as nervous about me seeing her body like she was last time. It tells me I'm doing something right.

I button up my shirt and put back on my pants, letting out a sigh when I collapse back into the backseat next to her. I'm still trying to comprehend what just happened, but my mind can't seem to wrap around it.

Ella brings her fingertip to the window and draws a heart into the fog, writing our initials into the middle of it. She lets out a laugh, glancing back at me after she finishes it. It's really corny, but it certainly is a memory I'll remember.

"You're such a nerd." I joke, even though I love it.

"Yeah, whatever." She teases. "You love me anyway."

I know that she's right, so I don't disagree with her. Instead I stretch out my legs to rest on the console and let her lay her head on my lap so that I can play with her hair. I'm still staring at the stupid foggy heart, smiling a little once I finally look at her again. I never thought I would find the love of my life this summer.

"I love your hair." I tell her, attempting to run my fingers through it. One of the curls gets stuck though, so I try to tug it out.

"I hate it." She mutters. "It's so annoying to keep up with."

"Well I wouldn't want you to change it. I love it."

"You seriously wouldn't change anything about me?"

She turns onto her side now, her head still in my lap, but she's looking up at me to wait for an answer. I can tell that she's vulnerable right now, nervous that I'll tell her something she doesn't want to hear.

"I wouldn't change a thing." I reply honestly, because I wouldn't. "I love everything about you. Your hair, your body, your personality, everything. I wouldn't change it."

"I think you're just saying that because you have to." She rolls her eyes, analyzing a piece of her hair. "But I love you."

I don't say anything after that, we just continue to sit in silence for another five minutes or so until we decide to head back to my moms house. It's only about ten minutes from here, and I see Ella pull the mirror down to try and check herself over.

"You don't need to do that." I reassure her. "My mom doesn't care what you look like Ella."

"I know." She says. "I'm trying to fix my hair. I don't need your mom to know we just had sex in the back of my car. It's not exactly a good look."

I let out a laugh knowing that she's right before I just focus back on the road until we pull into my driveway, looking over to her once more. "You realize that was pretty amazing, right? What we just did back there?"

She bites on her lip slightly, diverting her eyes to the floor of the car. "Trust me, I know." She admits.

The television is playing loudly when we enter inside the house, Ella gently closing the door behind her. My mom rounds the corner, pushing a couple of strands behind her ear. "How was the movie?" She asks.

Ella and I both don't know what to say, because if we're being honest we hardly watched it. I see Ella's face turn cherry red, clearly giving away what we've done. "It was great." I say, trying to hold back my laughter.

"Okay..." My mom trails off, arching her eyebrow up at us. Clearly she knows something is up. "Well, your father and I just started a movie. Do you guys want to join?"

"Sure Mrs. Connelly." Ella smiles, grasping onto my hand.

"Honey, you can call me Stacy. Would you mind helping me make popcorn for everyone?" She instructs for Ella to go in front of her after she agrees, pausing to look back at me once she's out of the room. "You forgot a button, honey."

I can tell my mom is stifling a laugh once she goes to help Ella out, and all I can do is let out a laugh of my own as I fix the button that's messed up. I'm grateful to have a mother that isn't insanely strict, but I also can't help the fact that I'm embarrassed as hell right now.

Letting out a loud sigh, I straighten my shirt one last time before I join my dad in the living room.
