Chapter 3: Meeting April O'Neil

Jamie's POV

As I was heading to Central Park, I was a little nervous. My aunt doesn't know about me meeting April; she only knows that I'm going to Central Park for a while. I didn't lie, but still it's nerve-racking. I wore a nice maroon, long sleeved shirt, regular blue jeans, and black high heel boots. I approached the Central Park entrance and saw a young woman with long, dark brown hair. She wore a tan jacket, a gray t-shirt, dark blue skinny jeans, and leather boots. I approached her.

"Excuse me, miss? Are you April O'Neil?" I asked.

"Yes. Are you Jamie Dabbs?" she responded.

"Yes I am. It's so nice to finally meet you," I smiled, shaking her hand.

"It's nice to meet you too," she said, shaking my hand then added, "Shall we walk and talk?"

"Yeah," I answered as we walked in.

"So tell me a little about yourself," she started, with her hands in her pockets.

"Well, obviously I'm the niece of the police captain, Rebecca Vincent," we both chuckled then I continued, "I'm into martial arts, and really into discovering the impossible."

"Like mutants and stuff?" April asked.

"Yeah. I actually got into that and martial arts after my parents died last year," I responded sadly.

"I'm really sorry. What happened to them?" she wondered.

"They were killed when debris fell off the Sacks Building. I did research on that and I realized it was Shredder's fault. But for all we know he's gone and I can't do anything about that," I explained then added, "I also found out there were some unlikely heroes who stopped his plan. And I knew who stopped him, obviously."

"So you knew that Vern wasn't the one who stopped Shredder," she guessed.

"Yeah. It's not just the fact that Shredder's way tougher than you'd think, but also the fact that I don't think he could even take on Baxter Stockman," I said.

She laughed at that.

"I told my aunt that last night. I mean no offense to the guy; I have nothing against him, but I doubt that could happen," I replied, chuckling.

"I understand. So can you tell me why you want to meet them?" April asked.

"I want to meet them because they must have done so much for all of us and the people of this city don't even know it. Basically, I want to thank them in person. I mean, it's not everyday chances like that happen, right?" I answered.

"You do have a point. I just might be able to arrange it. By the way, they were my pets before they were mutated," she told me.

"Whoa. That's really cool. I knew that you knew them, but you have a bigger connection with them than I thought," I said, amazed.

"Yeah. They're like family. And since I know I can trust you, I will definitely arrange a meeting. I don't know when, but it will happen," April replied.

"Really?! Thank you so much!" I squealed a little and jumped around.

April laughed at my enthusiasm while everyone else just stared at me like I was crazy. But I didn't care; I get to meet the heroes of New York City. April and I hung out the rest of the day until the sun set.

"Well I gotta go. I'll talk to you later," April said.

"Oh okay. I'll see you later," I responded.

"Bye Jamie," April waved at me.

I headed home and might have ended up grounded for the next day, but it'll all be worth it when I meet these mysterious heroes.
