Chapter 6
Louie watched as his brothers and best friend left his room and went to their own. He was extremely excited. His brothers actually wanted to learn about his interests. They were taking time out of their day just to learn a little bit more about their younger brother. Louie wondered what anime Webby would pick, hoping it wasn't anything that would embarrass him, or her, in front of his brothers. The four of them hadn't really hung out together that much, since they all had different interests. Webby and Louie had their anime, but whenever Webby had free time Louie would be out working at the jobs that he had. As for Huey and Dewey, they had their own things going on. Louie looked at the clock and saw that it was almost nine thirty at night. He put on his pajamas and snuck out into the hallway, knowing that if they were caught staying up that late, again, they would get in trouble. He held onto his pillow tightly, literally bumping into his brothers in the dark hall.
"Watch it!" Dewey whisper shouted.
"Sorry." Louie whispered back.
"Are you two okay?" Huey asked, helping Louie up and then helping Dewey.
"Thanks Hue." Dewey said with a small smile. The oldest triplet stayed holding onto his hand, Louie noticing this, but not saying anything. The three of them made their way over to Webby's door and knocked softly. Webby opened the door and let the triplets in.
"Louie, did you bring tissues?" She asked.
"What? No, why? What anime did you choose?" The youngest triplet asked frantically. He looked into his friend's room and saw that she had her projector set up, and on the screen was the opening title to the anime Shin Sekai Yori. "Webby. Webby, why?" Louie asked, tears already welling up in his eyes.
"What? What's wrong?" Huey asked, looking at his youngest brother.
"Sad anime, sad sad sad anime." He sobbed. "Why, why does this have to be their first?"
"It was our first, let them suffer through the sadness." Webby stated. "Now come on, if my calculations are correct, we'll finish all twenty five episodes by tomorrow morning around six a.m." She claimed.
"Wait, so you're telling us that we have to stay up all night? To watch this?" Dewey asked, pointing at the screen.
"Yes." Louie and Webby answered in unison.
"Is that even possible?" Huey questioned with a raise eyebrow.
"Of course it is." Louie replied. "And if I can do it, then so can you."
"You've done this before!?" The older triplets exclaimed in a whisper.
"For four straight days actually." He claimed with his arms crossed.
"Okay, fine. Just press play already. I bet you that I won't cry." Dewey sat down on the floor, on top of his pillow. Huey sat down next to him in the same manner. Webby cleared her throat and looked at the red and blue triplets who looked over at her.
"Phones, books and any distractions will have to be confiscated." She claimed, holding her hand out to them. They sighed and handed her their phones, Huey handing her a book that he had brought.
"You two are taking this really seriously." Dewey groaned, leaning on Huey a bit.
"It's not me, just her." Louie explained.
"If you guys really want to learn about your brother, you have to take it seriously."
"Just press play." Huey said quietly. He waited until Webby turned around to put an arm around Dewey.
"Here we go." She muttered as she pressed play on the first episode. Huey and Dewey stared at the screen and watched as the anime started off on a space view of Japan. Then it went down to the earth with the sound of a shutter clicking. The following bits of the scene came so abruptly, making Dewey jump a bit, but was a bit intrigued by what was happening.
"This is such a confusing opening. What's going on?" Huey asked.
"Sh, watch." Louie shushed. The scene them went to a group of kids that were arguing over a game.
"This is weird guys." Huey whispered.
"Huey, just watch, it gets better." Webby claimed, her eyes fixated on the screen.
Time Skip To Episode Five (11:10 PM)
"This anime is so, bloody." Dewey murmured.
"There's worse Dewey, trust us." Louie claimed. He took a deep breath as he watched the episode.
"Why do they live in a world like this? This is terrible." Huey muttered to where only Dewey can hear him. The middle triplet placed a hand on Huey's hand in a comforting manner.
Time Skip To Episode Ten (12:50 AM)
"Run, why isn't she running?" Dewey asked, sitting up so he was now on his knees. He watched as the demonic creature on the screen got closer to the anime's protagonist.
"Dewey, sit down." Huey, grabbed his brother's hand and pulled him towards him. The blue triplet gripped his brother's hand as he saw the creature lunge towards the character. He let out a sigh of relief when the screen panned to a necklace that the anime girl was wearing, protecting her from being bitten by the animal. He continued watching, wondering what the character was muttering, since the only sounds that were heard were her whimpers of fear.
"What's she doing?" He asked, looking over at Webby.
"She's casting a spell, look!" The girl pointed at the screen as the demonic creature was lifted into the air and twisted until it fell to the ground.
"Woah." Huey mumbled. "That was, intense..."
"At least she's safe." Dewey said quietly.
Time Skip To Episode Fifteen (1:30 AM)
"It's so pretty up there." Webby whispered.
"Yeah, watching this again really gives you time to appreciate everything the art department of the show does." Louie claimed.
"Yeah, not to mention the animators." She continued.
"Yeah yeah whatever, but what about Maria and Mamoru? What happened to them? Are Saki and Satoru gonna find them?" Dewey asked. Louie looked over at Webby before they both turned to look at Dewey.
"Watch." They said in unison.
Season One Ending (Episode Sixteen) (1:55 AM)
Dewey watched the closing scene of the first season, forcing himself not to cry. When the scene suddenly switched from Satoru hugging Saki to the both of them lying next to each other, he became confused, before understanding what was happening. When the episode ended, Webby stood up and took the disk out of the DVD player and put it in the box.
"Wait, that's it?" Dewey asked. "What about Maria? What happened to her? Saki loved her, what happened?" The middle triplet let a few tears fall down his face. The romance side of the anime had gotten to him, even if the intense gore still intrigued him.
"That's only season one Dewey." Louie pointed out.
"So they find them right? Please tell me they do." Webby sighed and shook her head.
"Okay, so first Shun dies and then their 'government' alters their memories about him and then all of this goes down? What the heck?" Huey held Dewey as he cried quietly.
"See, tissues." Webby stated, putting in the disk for season two.
"Well you could have given me a heads up." Louie claimed.
"Hey, it's just a show, you don't have to cry." Huey whispered to Dewey.
"I-I know, but, but it hurts. It's so sad." Dewey's voice cracked a bit at the end.
"Okay, season two." Webby pressed play, watching the episode start. Louie tossed his brothers a small packet of tissues. Huey caught them and took one out, wiping Dewey's eyes of the tears.
Time Skip To Episode Twenty (3:45 AM)
"Live, live live, live." Huey muttered under his breath. Dewey looked up at him, since he was now in his lap. "Why won't they be quiet, it's a weird demonic creature and I'm pretty sure it can hear them."
"I think they're gonna live." Dewey whispered his opinion.
"Is it just me, or are the characters as clueless as us about the world they live in?" Huey pointed out.
"They're clueless....somewhat." Webby and Louie answered, not taking their eyes off the screen.
Time Skip To The Final Episode (4:30 AM)
All four teenagers were in tears as they watched Saki burn the heart of one of the anime's antagonists with her powers.
"I-I can't believe he betrayed them." Huey stuttered. "He seemed so trustworthy." Dewey wiped his eyes as the tears began to fall. Louie was looking down at his lap, not sure if he would be able to watch the ending, while Webby cried freely, her tears streaming down her face. What finally broke Huey and Dewey into loud sobs was when Saki mentioned hers and Satoru's future child. Louie looked over at them as they cried. he sobs only got louder as memories from Saki's past showed up on the screen. Dewey gripped Huey's hand tightly, Huey gripping back just as tight. When the laughter of children was only thing heard, along with some background music, Louie began crying as well. Webby stood up and turned the projector off, sitting back down.
"S-so, what'd you two think?" She asked, wiping her eyes. Dewey simply blubbered incoherent words. Huey stayed silent as his sobs got quieter.
"It's a good anime huh?" Webby continued, earning soft nods from the older triplets. Louie calmed himself down and crawled towards Webby, so they were sitting next to each other.
"Who was you're favorite character?" He asked softly, afraid his voice would crack if he spoke any louder.
"Saki..." Huey muttered, holding a still sobbing Dewey.
"What about you Dewey?" Webby asked.
"M-Maria!! Why!? She deserved better!"
"Sh, i-it's okay." The red triplet whispered. Dewey sat up and wiped his tears away, sniffing a bit.
"How can you guys not be emotional still?" He asked.
"We've already watched it." Louie explained.
"And can you not see our eyes? They're all red and puffy, like yours." Webby pointed out.
"Hue. There's a book too, I have it if you want to read it." Louie got a bit closer to his brothers.
"There's a book?" Huey asked, wiping his eyes.
"Yeah, it's in Japanese though."
"I'll manage." The oldest triplet muttered. "Dewey, feeling better?" He asked, looking over at him. The middle triplet was fast asleep, sitting up instead of lying down. Huey smiled softly and lied Dewey down carefully onto his pillow. He put a blanket over him right after. "Thanks for tonight guys, it was really fun to watch that." He whispered. "But I think it's time we get some rest." Louie nodded, yawning a bit. He lied down on his own pillow and closed his eyes softly.
"Night guys."
"Good night." Webby replied, lying down on her pillow, putting a blanket over herself.
"Good night." Huey said softly. He kissed Dewey's cheek softly, lying down next to him and put an arm around him as well. He closed his eyes lightly. Webby however, had still not closed her eyes and saw Huey kiss Dewey's cheek. She tried her best not squeal, and turned on her side, facing away from the triplets. Before falling asleep, she couldn't help but get up and snap a quick picture of the red and blue triplets as they slept before going back to her spot and falling asleep herself.
(Fun Fact: I sobbed while watching this anime, and I sobbed while writing this. Bye)
