Waterfalls Are Pretty... Like You
Lais heard a knock on her door and she knew Kili was waiting just outside. She smoothed her hair down one more time before opening the door and peering out.
"Boo!" Kili shouted, popping out and trying to scare her.
"I'm so scared," Lais rolled her eyes "where are we going today?"
"To a waterfall. I know you like waterfalls." Kili said, beaming at his idea.
"I'm surprised you remember me telling you that." Lais laughed softly and brushed a stray piece of hair behind her ear.
"I don't forget anything you tell me." Kili said, smiling knowingly.
"Well, I guess we should get going before it gets any darker." Lais said, bringing them back into reality.
The two set off on foot to Kili's waterfall. Kili commented on how he liked the flowy, light blue dress that Lais was wearing. Lais thanked him and said how she loved it when he smiled.
"I like the way you smile too." He replied. Lais blushed and smiled at the ground. The couple arrived at the waterfall and Lais caught her breath.
"Wow," she breathed, "it's beautiful."
"I think waterfalls are pretty... Like you." Kili said, slipping his hand into hers.
"Smooth." Lais teased.
They sat down at the edge of the pool and dangled their feet in the cool water. It refreshed them after the long walk to get there.
"Brother, I lost my favourite sword have you seen it?" Fili shouted, running up behind the two.
"Um Fili, not now..." Kili said, awkwardly trying to dismiss him.
"You haven't seen it now? Did you see it earlier?" Fili persisted. The three heard giggles in the bushes.
"Vili? Lili? Zili?" Kili called to the laughing from the short shrubs. Fili rushed over to the bushes and hoisted Vili out by her fur vest. She was holding Fili's sword.
"Hey brother, just happened to find this lying around." Vili smirked and handed the sword over to her older brother.
"Kili, you may need to help me teach these girls a lesson in touching other people's stuff." Fili said, crossing his arms and teasingly glaring at the girls.
"Maybe later, but..." Kili trailed off, not knowing what to say. Lais giggled at Kili's frustration.
"It was Zili's idea." Lili said.
"What?! No, it was Vili's idea." Zili said, defending herself.
"Everything is always blamed on me." Vili sighed. Fili shook his head and then leapt onto Vili. They wrestled each other until Lili and Zili joined in. Lais watched with amusement while Kili still thought the entire date was now ruined.
"Come on, Kili!" Lili said, she pounced on Kili before he could stop her and they both toppled into the water. Also splashing Lais in the process.
Lili came up laughing and smoothing her wet hair back. Kili suppressed a smile and simply climbed out of the pool.
"Kili, why aren't you joining in the fight?" Lili asked, still laughing.
"I'm kind was in the middle of a date with Lais." He finally got out. Lili looked back and forth between the two and then nodded. "Oh, sorry."
She ran back over to the three that were still fighting and whispered the problem they had caused.
"Why does this always happen to me?" Vili pouted.
"I guess this time the blame is on all of us." Zili chuckled.
The four siblings ran away to leave Kili and Lais alone.
"Sorry for that." Kili said, looking down at the water.
"It's fine," Lais chuckled, "this was a perfect date." Lais leaned against Kili's side and he put his arm around her.
"Ew, you're wet!"
