Stay with me

Imagine you are traveling with the woodland elves to Rivendell, and you fall in love with Elrond.

It was a beautiful morning when the birds were chirping by your window. You slowly sit up in your bed and bask in the morning rays that glisten through the windows. Suddenly there was a knock at the door, and your hand maiden walked in with a set of travel clothes.

"Good morning my lady, it's time to get up to prepare for Rivendell."

You groaned. It's not that you didn't like to travel, but you were going to be with Thranduil the entire time. The king was not fond of you, for he thought that Legolas didn't need a friend like you. Legolas however, didn't listen to his fathers words and became friends with you anyways. You two didn't become just casual friends, but best friends. This, made Thranduil hate you even more.

As you dressed and prepared for the journey, you wondered what it would be like to go to Rivendell, for you have never really gone there before. You have only heard tales of it's splendor, and wonderful customs that they partake in.

Your head turned towards the door, when you heard a knocking sound.

"Come in." You said, loud enough for the person to hear. Legolas peeked his head through and whispered

"Is it secret? Is it safe?"

You laughed at his humor and motioned him to come in.

"Ready for the journey?" He asked cheerfully.

"I suppose." You spoke, immediately looking down. "I'm just nervous."

"I know," Legolas replied. "Should my father try and ridicule you in any way, I'll be there to stop it."

You sighed in relief, hoping that his words would indeed come true. Suddenly, the horn sounded and Legolas grabbed your hand and ran you down to the rest of the group. Everyone was on horses, and to the side was a horse for Legolas. Thranduil was then riding down the aisle towards you and Legolas on his majestic Elk.

"I see that you are ill prepared as always Y/N" Thranduil smirked.

Legolas furrowed his eyebrows. "Ads, you told me arrangements would be taken care of, for everyone,"

Thranduil waved his hand lazily. "Oh well. All the horses are gone. She will just have to stay. "

"She will not." Legolas growled in anger "she's riding with me." Thranduil whipped his head around in shock as You and Legolas mounted the horse together.  He refused to say anything, so he turned and led the group towards Rivendell.

It had been quite a few hours since you have all stopped to rest. However, you were not going to complain, it would make things worse between you and Thranduil. Luckily, you had made it to the kingdom;

"Welcome to Rivendell. My name is Lindir, and I will help you in anyway I can."

"Thank you Lindir, we very much appreciate it."Thranduil spoke with a genuine smile.

The next hour was spent washing up in time for the big autumn feast. The maiden of Rivendell gave you a dress and left me to change.

When you exited your room, you were deep in thought and that caused you to bump into someone.

"I am so sorry." You spoke, while bowing with remorse. "Are you hurt?"

"Not at all, it's quite alright. What's your name?"

"Y/N of Mirkwood." You responded, still looking at the ground in fear of ridicule.

"Y/N you do not need to be afraid to look at me. I promise I won't hurt you.  My name is Lord Elrond."

You immediately looked up in shock to see a smiling face. When you did, it was as if the world disappeared and you only saw him.  Finally, you were broken out of your trance by the bell signaling for dinner. Elrond immediately offered you his arm and escorted you to the head of the table. When Thranduil saw you with the host, his jaw dropped, while Legolas smirked smugly at you.

"What are you doing with him? You need to sit where you belong." Thranduil hissed

"Lord Thranduil, I am a guest at Rivendell, If Lord Elrond wishes for me to sit beside him, then I will. " You responded calmly.

The dinner commenced, and you and Elrond, talked for the entire time. By the time it was dark out, it was time for everyone to go to bed. For in the morning. The woodland elves would return to Mirkwood.

"Y/N!" Elrond called as you were about to make your way to bed. "Can I have a word?"

You nodded eagerly and followed him into the garden.

"What is it?" You asked softly.

"I know you have to leave tomorrow, but I would very much like it if you were to stay. I want to get to know you more and I care for you." Elrond rambled while rubbing circles on your thumb. "What do you say? Take a chance on me?" (If y'all know where that comes from 100 brownie points to you)

To say that you were shocked was an understatement. "Elrond, I'm flattered and I would love to, but Mirkwood is all I've ever known, and Legolas is my best friend-"

"Rivendell is far more safer than Mirkwood. I've see the way Thranduil treats you, and I am not happy about it. I hate it. You haven't deserved any of it and yet he still treats you poorly. As for Legolas,  he may visit whenever he likes. Y/N, do you really want to go for the rest of your life by being poorly treated? "

You stood there, taking in everything that he had said, feeling overwhelmed.

Lord Elrond noticed this, and embraced you for a hug. "Look, just think about it, alright?"

The next morning, you got up, and dressed quickly, knowing you would have to announce your decision soon. As you were brushing your hair, Legolas barged in.

"Hello Legolas," you laughed

"Have you chosen yer? I've been dying all night for what your answer could be."

"How did you-"

"Me and Lindir, noticed you and Elrond in the gardens last night and overheard. "

You shook your head with laughter "yes I have. "

"Aren't you going to tell me?" Legolas bounced on your bed like a 4 year old. "I am your best friend after all."

Suddenly, the horn sounded, cuing they woodland elves would be leaving soon. Legolas grabbed your arm and ran to where everyone else was.

"Well well, I'm so glad you joined us sleeping beauty." Thranduil smirked "get on the horse with Legolas. We're leaving, and you will have a whole new life in Mirkwood."

"No." Y/N responded "I'm not going."

Elronds head shot up in suprise and he broke out into a big smile.

"What do you mean not going?"

"I mean I'm staying here." I spoke calmly, not moving an inch.

"Ada, I don't know if you've noticed, but Y/N and Elrond are bit of an item now." Legolas smirked.

Thranduil rolled his eyes and looked at you sternly. "Get on, or you are disowned from Mirkwood."

"I don't care." You shrugged. "I never belonged there anyway. This is where I belong."

Thranduil huffed and clicked his tongue signaling his elk to go. You quickly said your goodbyes to Legolas, as he promised he would visit. When they left. Elrond came to stand next to you.

"Is it true what you said? That you belong here?"

"Yes, in a way. I do belong here. But I belong wherever you are. "

I hope you enjoy this! Have a lovely Saturday!
