You are a hobbit of the shire FYI and are friends with Merry and Pippin but secretly like Pippin. However there is one tiny problem....

You woke up with a fresh start as you quickly dressed and ate a quick breakfast. Today was grocery day where you would gather all your food for the week.

"Good morning Y/N!" Frodo waved from his doorstep.

"Good morning Frodo!" You called cheerfully as you walked down the path where the town was buzzing about. It was one of your favorite parts of the Shire.

"Hello gorgeous." A voice spoke that made you with.

"Hello Wes." You sighed bored with the conversation already.

You see, Wes had been trying to court you for months. But you didn't like him, he was cocky, arrogant, selfish and controlling. Not to mention manipulative. All the other hobbit girls loved him because he was rich and had one of the best gardens in the shire. You had been trying to dodge him for awhile and it was getting to the point where you wanted to slap his face off.

"Consider taking my offer yet?" He asked with a smirk.

"Oh hell no! I am not  marrying you!" You snapped. You may be a hobbit, but you were also part dwarf. Which means you got the sass.

He stood there shocked "Why that wasn't very proper-"

You scoffed "proper my a$$ my answer is still no."

He sighed but smirked again. "Oh well. I'll try again tomorrow. You'll fall in love with me, all the other girls did."

He moved closer as you pulled your basket closer, ready to beat him if necessary.

"Oh look!" You shouted as you pointed over there towards the ladies

"What?" He asked startled.

"Someone is impersonating you! And selling autographs" You shouted as you made your escape route towards the other side of the market successfully unnoticed.

"Hey Y/N!" Pippin called "who are you hiding from?"

"I'm hiding from Wes."

Pippin huffed angrily as he stood by you protectively. "If that arrogant toad lays one finger-"

"What's going on?" Merry asked as he crouched next to you.

"I'm hiding from my-a$$-is-up-my-pony-Wes. " you replied as you stuffed some carrots in your basket.

Merry grinned. "I have an idea."

You whipped around with a desperate expression. "Tell me."

"Pretend to go out with me or Pippin to get this guy off your back. "

Your face paled as Pippins cheeks reddened. Secretly but not really dare Pippin? That was the closest thing you could actually muster to be with him.

"I don't know-" Pippin began.

"What the heck why not?" You threw your hands in the air.

"Excellent!" Merry grinned. "Pippin you can be her date until Wes backs off."

You and Pippins eyes widened as Merry shooed you to continue on. Quickly, you step out of the stand and link arms with Pippin.

"Y/N! There you are!" Wes smirked sitting high on his pony.

"Who's this thing?" He motioned towards Pippin.

Your jaw dropped in disbelief. He was not some thing! He was a gorgeous hobbit who had a knack for getting into trouble.

"Um excuse me but this handsome fellow is MY BOYFRIEND!" you spoke loudly as you wrapped around his shoulders.

"When did that happen? Since when have you been able to get a boyfriend?"

"Well maybe we don't tell everyone everything Wes!" Pippin gritted his teeth. "We are secretly courting. For your information."

Wes scoffed "Prove it."

To your amazement, Pippin dipped you down and kissed you in front of the whole market.

And you kissed back.

Finally Pippin pulled you up and smirked at Wes.  "Now if you excuse me we have better things to do then to hang out with you. "

Both of you strutted out of the market, and when you were safe distance away, you busted out laughing.

"Thanks Pippin." You sighed

"Uh Y/N?"

"Yeah?"

"I really really like you. And I was hoping I could take you out on a real date?" Pippin asked hopefully.

"Well in that case I really like you too." You grinned.

It was the most unexpected day ever.
