A girl from another realm 2

You tried to scream, but as soon as you slightly opened your mouth, water seeped into it. Finally, the swirling current stopped, and you were able to breath. After you finished coughing, you looked up to see pure green hills, and little people strolling with their food baskets merrily.

"Holy crap I'm in the Shire." You muttered, still in the lake. When you finally dried off, you checked to see what Faye had indeed packed in your bag. It was as expected; clothes, weapons, food,  your journal, and a few things here and there. At this point, the sun had set, and it was getting dark. You smiled as you saw Balin, and Dwalin approach the house, and you immediately thought to the movie. Giggles escaped your mouth as you saw the poor hobbit look flabbergasted at his new guests. Soon, all the dwarves and Gandalf had arrived, which meant that you had to make your grand entrance.

You approached the door, and gave two knocks. The door was quickly opened by a man who you presumed to be Ori.

"Hello Miss, Can I help you?" He asked shyly.

"Yes I'm looking for Gandalf the Grey." You remarked with a smile. "Is he here?"

"I am indeed.....Are you at the right house lass?" He asked with confusion.

"I have a message for you, from your apprentice." You spoke discreetly,

"Gandalf has an apprentice?" Nori asked

"Who knew he had one." Bofur remarked.

Gandalf quickly stood up and turned to the group. "I will only be a minute, besides, Thorin isn't here yet."

The two of you quickly left outside, and went around the corner to the back of the house.

"Well, what is it?" He asked. "What does Faye have for me?"

"Faye says she's found it. Whatever that means..." You trailed off

"You're her aren't you? She sent you to help Middle Earth."

"Yes."

"Well, welcome to the company of Thorin Oakenshield. We will definitely need you."

"Will the others mind? I don't want to intrude..."

"Probably, but the dwarves will have to get over it." He remarked. "Let's get inside."

When the two of you entered, the company stared at Gandalf expectantly.

"She is coming with us." He stated before sitting down. "She will be an asset to us."

"Who even are you?" Dwalin spoke coldly. "What's an elf doing in our company?"

You opened your mouth to protest, but you caught sight of a mirror hanging and saw your features for the first time. You had pointy ears, and a smooth complexion with H/C and E/C

"It doesn't matter if she's an elf. She's quite intelligent." Gandalf remarked, causing Dwalin to growl in disbelief. You looked down and suddenly found your shoes to be very interesting. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a brown haired dwarf give you a small smile before turning his attention to the wizard.

"Can you even fight lassie?" Balin asked. You nodded and showed your bow and arrow. You unsheathes your sword, and the blonde dwarf stood up, as if offering to help demonstrate.

"Fili, at your service." He smiled before unsheathing his sword as well.

The rest of the dwarves watched in amazement as you fought effortlessly, and finally had the Durin prince unarmed.

"Any questions?"

"Who are you?" A small voice asked, putting a smile on your face."

"Y/N, nice to meet you."

"I'm Bilbo." He said with a soft smile. "At least you seek to have some manners unlike the other dwarves."

You slightly laughed as the other dwarves rolled their eyes. Suddenly the door thudded three times, indicating that someone was here.

"He's here." You whispered quietly.

Soon enough, Thorin indeed entered the house, and his eyes narrowed at the sight of you.

"What's an elf doing in our company?"

"I asked her to come." Gandalf intervened. "If you were here a moment ago, you would have seen her duel one of the dwarves-"

"Gandalf I swear it better have not been my nephews-"

"It was me." Bofur interjected quickly, sending relief all over Fili's face. "She wanted to prove her self in a small way so I offered to duel her."

Thorin nodded before facing his attention to Bilbo. "And what about him? He doesn't look much like a burglar."

Jeez Thorin, really going after everyone today. You thought as you stared at the two of them.

"Who knows, he could have his own potential." You remarked, "he could surprise you."

Thorin glared at you before turning his attention to the rest of the company who waited for him to take his seat. What followed was the discussion of reclaiming the lonely mountain. Suddenly, Bilbo thudded to the ground unconscious.

"Y/N, Kili would you help him?" Gandalf trailed. The two of you nodded as you lifted Bilbo Baggins and carried him to a chair. Once he was laid in the chair, the two of you took a moment to catch your breath.

"I never really got your name." Kili remarked as he smiled kindly at you.

"Y/N," you remarked. "You must be Kili?"

"How did you know?" He asked surprised.

"I could hear it through the conversations you had." You half lied. It was true, you did hear his name, but you knew far more about his personality than you were willing to let on.

"Ah..." Kili trailed. "So what family do you belong to?"

You looked down at the fireplace a lump rising in your throat. "There gone, and I'm not royal or anything. I'm adopted."

Kili gave you a look of compassion. "I am truly sorry. Was your adopted family nice?"

You shrugged your shoulders. "They took me in out of obligation, I'm at least grateful for not being on the road. When I was old enough, I took an abandoned cottage and fixed it up. Before I came here, I used to sit by the fire and knit item for people with a cup of tea steaming and a fire roaring." You concludes dreamily.

"That sounds lovely." He smiled. There was a moment where somehow you both seemed to move closer, and he was about to place a hand on your shoulder out of comfort when Ori came in.

"Um... Miss? It's time for you to sign the contract..."

You nodded and followed Ori to the main room, while Gandalf went to speak to Bilbo.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Bofur asked. "It's not an easy task."

"I have nothing to lose." You spoke as you signed it quickly.

The dwarves suddenly got up and moved to the living room in which they sang their famous song.

Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away ere break of day
To seek our pale enchanted gold.

Your eyes began to flutter as exhaustion soon overtook you. Quietly, you found yourself curling into the comfortable chair until the wee hours of the morning.

When the sun began to rise, you wrote a note saying you were going to the market to buy food for breakfast. When you returned, the company was still fast asleep. Quietly, you quickly began to make the eggs, bacon, and sausage for the company. After you cooked, you quickly set the table, and the group approached the breakfast feast.

"Good morning" Balin said with a smile. "Thank you for making breakfast."

"Your welcome!" You exclaimed with a smile as you made some for you and Bilbo.

As you were leaving to give Bilbo his plate, you felt a pair of eyes stare at you. From the corner of your eye, you could see Kili give a quick wink your way. You chuckled before giving Bilbo his plate.

"Thanks Y/N."

"Your welcome. Are you coming?"

"Coming? Oh no. I cannot leave my home. I imagine we will be gone for a long time. I can't have the Sackville Baggin's come and steal everything can I?"

You laughed at his comment before your expression turned into a serious one.

"Bilbo.... I know you are nervous, and you have every right to be. But, you don't want to go grey and old and wonder what could have been would you? Besides, there's only so much that earthly items can get you anyway."

Bilbo snorted "Y/N, you're going on a quest with dwarves to reclaim gold. That's the most earthly thing ever."

"It's more than that!" You protested. "It's about reclaiming their homeland, and having the life they once had. Thorin is doing this for the many people in his kin."

Bilbo smiled at his new friend. "No I'm sorry. I can't go."

You nodded sadly before picking your plate up and placing it in the sink. Then, you turned your attention to the brown leather bag, and made sure everything was in it.

"It's time to go." Thorin announced. "We need to get moving."

The group quickly gathered their things, and were surprised to find you placing your bag on a horse. Thorin scoffed at the sight and quickly walked to his horse to saddle up.

"Make sure you can keep up, elf." He spoke coldly.

"Will do your highness." You grumbled.

Thorin narrowed his eyes at you before stepping in your direction. "Are you mocking me?"

"No." You spoke defensively. "I'm addressing you by your title. You are going to be King Under the Mountain yes?"

Thorin growled in disbelief as Gandalf's eyes were as wide as saucers. Thorin finally moved quickly to his horse, and signaled for the group to follow him.

"Word of advice? Don't insult the dwarves. It makes it harder for them to like you." Gandalf mumbled.

The group then decided to start wagers for if Bilbo would come. You laughed quietly as bets were made. Suddenly, Nori turned his attention to you.

"What will it be lass?"

"I have no intention of betting on gold, for I believe Mr. Baggins will come regardless." You smirked.

"Wait!" A familiar voice called "wait!!"

You grin widened at the sight of Bilbo Baggins running to join the group.

"I signed it." He said breathlessly.

Balin nodded as the twins helped him sit on your pony. You knew that this was the start of an adventure.
