Chapter 7
Tanna Carson
"Wanna let go yet?" I cling tighter to his body, keeping my face tucked into the crook of his neck and my legs around his waist as he walks through the house.
I shake my head, knowing he would understand by the feeling of my head against his neck.
"Come on, you're gonna sleep our day away." He huffs playfully, coming to a stop somewhere in the house. "Tannnn."
I try to say no, but I land up mumbling something inaudible against his neck instead.
"Fine, have it your way." He chuckles, dropping down, taking me with him with my legs still wrapped around him as he falls onto a couch.
He stays quiet for a second, rubbing my back before tapping my shoulder gently.
"Hey, if you see my best friend, ask her if she wants to come out from hiding any time soon." I giggle softly, finally lifting my head out of his neck to look down at him.
"I'm tired."
"After last night I'm sure, Luke's car was pretty fogged up when we arrived home." The smirk on his face was extremely evident as my cheeks darken a shade and I move to push myself off of him.
"You know, you're talking loud for someone who was just in their bed with their boyfriend on top of them na-"
"Okay, okay. Touché."
"You asked for it." I shrug, leaning over to grab the remote, unintentionally leaving space between us as I sit back down, only for him to pull me right back next to him.
"Maybe, but it's my job to tease you, you know, best friend and all." He winks down at me making me laugh loudly.
"Oh don't worry, you know I'll just tease you right back." I tilt my head away from him, snuggling into his side as I bring my legs to my chest. "So, are we doing our musical marathon or what?"
"Most definitely. I was thinking we start off with a classic." I hand him the remote, watching him open his Netflix profile before scrolling down to La La Land.
"A classic or your favorite?"
"I don't hear any difference." I laugh at his response, shaking my head lightly as I turn my focus onto the Tv in front of us. "Last time I checked, it was one of your favorites too?"
"I wasn't complaining, now click play. Gosling is waiting."
I feel my attention completely drawn to the screen in front of me, not being able to take my eyes off of it once throughout.
"I swear, this is one of the best movie endings ever." Alex looks over to me quizzically and I tear my eyes away from the screen for a second to meet his gaze.
"You enjoy seeing Mia and Sebastian experience everything they could have been only for it all to be ripped away from them?"
"Well no, but yes. It's like a love hate thing. Every movie always has this picture perfect ending where everyone's just happy all the time, but that's not reality. I don't know, it doesn't set up some unrealistic expectations, I just love it."
I feel Alex shift besides me at my words, but I take no notice of it as his phone starts to ring, taking my focus off him and back onto the movie.
"Tan, I need to take this, I'll be back okay?" I look over to him nodding as he stands up, immediately making me miss his presence next to me.
I keep my legs pulled up to my chest, resting my arms on my knees before placing my chin on top of them.
After almost two hours of being entranced with one another, Mia and Sebastian suddenly go their separate ways.
I bite my lip, watching as five years passed since the last time they saw each other.
If I hadn't seen the movie, the moment their eyes re-met after all those years, I would immediately think that was the end, that they'd land up together.
The two would drop everything for each other, because they had to have the picture perfect ending just like any other movie but instead it was all a dream.
It portrays us more clearly than we're often able to see ourselves, I think that's the thing that makes the movie so enticing.
Enticing yet frightening. I guess anything could happen in the next five years that we have absolutely no control over. It's easier seeing someone else not get their envisioned reality than not getting your own one day.
Five years. A lot can happen in that time.
"What's got you so deep in thought?" The voice snaps me out of my thoughts, my eyes settling on the end credits rolling down the screen.
I sigh softly, turning my head to the side, letting my eyes settle on him as my eyebrows furrow inwards.
"Alex asked me to come keep you company while he's gone and there's no way I'd ever turn that down." I giggle softly, feeling a smile break onto my lips at his words.
"Is there something on your mind?" I tilt my head, wondering why he was asking that out of nowhere until he gestured down towards my clenched hands where my nails were digging into my palms.
"Where do you see yourself in five years?" His eyes widen slightly, clearly not expecting that question out of nowhere.
"Well," he says, coming to sit down next to me on the couch. "Hopefully I'll be on tour, maybe have released a few albums with the boys but most importantly, I'll be right next to you."
I nod slowly, unable to stop the smile that spread across my face, taking in every word that left his lips. He was completely serious about it, no matter how random the question was.
"Something prompt these thoughts?" I turn my head to the cover on the screen, gesturing towards it before looking back at Luke. "Ahh, La la Land."
"Yep. I slipped into my mind there for a second."
"Well, how about we keep your mind occupied for a while. What about another movie?"
"I don't think Alex would be too happy if we watched without him."
Luke chuckles lowly, nodding in agreement.
Suddenly, he gently leans me back until my back was resting against the cushions and I was laying underneath him on the couch.
"There are other ways we can keep you occupied." It takes a lot in me to keep my composure as I shake my head, cupping his face in my hands, bringing his face down stopping where his lips hover just above mine.
"Is that all you think about?" I ask teasingly, watching as he rolls his eyes.
"Last night, you seemed more than okay with it." The smirk and look on his face was overwhelming. "You were actually the one who initiated it if I remember correctly."
I let my thumb run over his lips slowly, my eyes trailing after before looking back up into his eyes, the innocent smile on my lips stopping him from closing the gap between us.
"I plead the fifth."
