Chapter 21

Tanna Carson

"and I'll be here with you, every single day to remind you just how perfect you are." He hooks his hand underneath my chin, lifting my head until I was looking at him once again. "As long as you let me."

"I'm scared." I mutter quietly, not really knowing what I wanted to say.

"Scared of what baby?" He replies just as softly, his thumb now brushing gently over my cheek as I look into his eyes.

"Of course I don't want to lose you, but I don't want you guys to lose this record deal because of me."

"That won't happen Tanna."

"How can you be sure of that? If Sharon finds out about me and-"

"You don't need to worry about her okay? I'll deal with her. I want you to start focusing on yourself yeah?"

"Myself?"

"Mmh." He hums, his eyes fluttering down to my lips, remaining there for a few seconds before sweeping back up to meet my gaze. "I need you to look after yourself, sleeping, eating, all that."

My eyes immediately drop, not liking how vulnerable I feel right now.

"Hey, remember, I'm not judging baby. Not now, not ever." He sighs before continuing, "I just really need you to be okay, because I know that I won't be if something happens to you."

My heart skips a beat at his words, the confession sending my feelings into overdrive.

"Incase you haven't picked it up yet, I adore you Tanna, so much it's actually painful." I scrunch my eyebrows as my head tilts to the side. "Yet I don't want to know what it's like to live without that, without knowing what it's like to love you."

"No wonder you're a lyricist." I laugh softly, which immediately makes Luke smile.

"I see you're still just as awkward when it comes to telling you how I'm feeling."

"I'm so sorry, I can't help it." I pull back, hiding my face in my hands as I shake my head in amusement. "You know how I feel about you."

"Sorry? What was that?" Luke teases, reaching up to pry my hands off my face.

"Nothing." I smile innocently, shutting my eyes as I lift my chin slightly.

"Oh? Is that so?"

"Yep, absolutely."

"Mmh, I'll leave it." He chuckles, shaking his head. "Only this once though, because you already told me you loved me earlier."

I roll my eyes as he winks, but I say nothing, because I did say it, and I would never be able to lie and say I didn't.

"Now, how about I run downstairs, grab some snacks and we watch a movie?" I nod, opening my mouth to speak, but get cut off, "yeah baby, you can choose."

"You know me too well." I laugh, my smile widening.

"I wouldn't classify that as a bad thing." He shrugs, leaning his hands onto the bed as he moves his face towards mine. "Am I allowed to ask for a kiss before I go?"

"Before you go all the way downstairs to the kitchen? That does seem like a pretty long excursion." I hum, pretending to be in deep thought.

"Mmh, it really does." He leans in even closer, gently pressing his lips on mine. "So many stairs."

I roll my eyes as he pulls back, another smile immediately breaking out onto my face.

Happiness.

Genuine happiness.

"Good luck with your travels." I shuffle backwards, pulling the blankets over me while I get comfortable. "I'll be here, warm and choosing something incredible for us to watch."

"Yeah yeah." He chuckles, pushing himself back off the bed before moving to the bedroom door. "No rom-coms Tan."

"Oh please, you and I both know that you enjoy those just as much as I do, maybe even more so."

"I didn't take you as delusional. Maybe I should go fetch the thermometer on the way back. You know, make sure you don't have a fever with all these things you're saying." My laughter bubbles up from inside me escaping through my lips.

I grab the pillow next to me, hurling it towards the doorframe, where Luke was perched.

"You know, you're not very threatening for someone who doesn't have the best aim." He teases as the cushion completely misses him.

I take that as my cue to pick up another one, this time throwing it and just as it's about to hit him, he pushes himself out the way and into the passage way.

"What was that about bad aim?"

"You didn't hit me." He laughs back, his voice echoing from the passage.

"You moved!"

"Okay, I'm going now." He calls back, his footsteps getting further away from the room, leaving me to scroll through Netflix to find something to watch.

Luke Patterson

I walk around the kitchen, popcorn bag under my arm, a bowl of chocolate shortbread and the drinks balancing between everything.

"Ooh, chocolate shortbread," a voice pops up, a hand dashing into the bowl and grabbing some of the small chocolate bites. "Yum."

"Reg!" I chuckle, shaking my head as I move away from him, trying to stop him from taking any more out the bowl. "Those are for Tanna, hands off."

He holds his hands up in mock surrender as he chews the ones he had already stuffed into his mouth.

"My bad, what's the occasion?" He asks, moving to the fridge to pull out the ice cream tub from the drawer.

"Very unplanned date night."

"I take it you spoke to her about what Sharon said?" He asks nervously, his eyebrows furrowing inwards as he speaks.

"Yeah I don't want any of you guys to feel threatened or uncomfortable because of her, I'll handle it eh?"

"Thanks Luke." He says, his voice a bit softer, but his eyes shine with gratitude.

Reggie is too soft spoken at times, and there is no ways I will let someone like Sharon push him around.

"Anytime buddy." I smile, tipping my head slightly, "okay, I've got to get back to Tanna before she thinks something's happened, but we'll talk tomorrow, okay?"

"Yeah, okay, sounds good."

Tanna Carson

"Get lost on the way to find the thermometer?" I tease as he walks back in, carrying a bunch of different things.

"You know, now that you mention it, it seems I forgot, but since you so kindly reminded me, let me go find it." He moves to the pedestal, putting all the food and drinks down before moving towards the door again.

I immediately reach out, catching his arm before pulling him right up to me.

"It can wait, the movie can't." I smile, patting the bed next to me, watching as he climbs in, pushing himself right up against me. "Comfortable?"

As if he could get any closer, he shuffles again, wrapping his arm across the back of my shoulder and tucks his face into my neck.

"Very."

"You can't watch the movie like that."

"Why not?"

"You literally can't see anything Luke." I laugh loudly as he groans into my neck.

"I'm avoiding the rom-com I already know you picked."

"You are very correct."

"You're lucky I love you."

"That I am."
