A/N: Before I begin, I just wanted to thank everyone for the awesome support and sweet comments this story has received. I wasn't sure how well liked it would be with all the violence and dark themes; however, I've seen nothing but excitement and anticipation. So thank you for that, it means so much more than you think <3
(Present)
"When he turns to look for you, you're already gone."
You ran.
As fast and far as your legs would carry you, you ran for your life.
Both your legs ached with a throbbing pain and your chest felt as if it'd burst if you pushed yourself any further.
Maybe that's what you wanted.
If you could just let them end you, if you just gave up, if you just surrendered like the good little girl you once were; it'd all be over.
You wouldn't have to deal with the abuse, the pain, the heartache. You could finally escape to a place where you were safe.
A place of freedom.
Nevertheless you fought on.
You didn't know how far that monster was behind you, but you knew he'd be angry. Anyone would be if you whacked them over the head with a crowbar...
You shake the thoughts and keep running. Your stamina begins to fade and you know your legs won't keep going much longer. After the realization hits you, you locate some buildings to your right you could hide in, or the sewer system to your left.
The buildings were probably safer, or at least cleaner.
Just as you're about to strafe towards them, you run into something.
Funny, there wasn't anything in front of you before...
You shake your head trying to rid yourself of the new throbbing pain.
When you finally snap back to reality, you flinch back in fear of the towering figure before you.
It's him. That skeleton.
You shrink back, causing his smirk to grow wider.
"You're interesting, for a human. Actually putting up a fight when you know you can't win."
Although he's intimidating, his confidence irks you.
"And what about it? Picking on a measly human, don't you have anything better to do?" You reply, raising your eyebrow at his behavior.
"You think your tough behavior will get you anywhere? I might as well kill you where you stand, runt." He scoffs, leaning over you.
"Then do it. "
He raises his left arm, summoning some sort of skeletal dragon with flaming yellow eyes.
"Worthless human."
There was nothing left to do but accept your fate.
You'd fought for your freedom and revenge, but in end, you just weren't strong enough. The same weak kid who let her brother die at the hands of a monster.
A blinding, white laser comes from the mouth of the large skeletal dragon and hits you head on.
It burns and scorches your body, bringing you to your knees. Such a pain... would've surely killed you, right?
Wrong.
. . .
You felt a burning sensation travel through your body. You try to move but you can't. When you attempt to open your eyes, you're met with pure darkness.
"It's okay, human. Don't force yourself!" A cheerful voice says from nearby.
You want to reply, but your voice refuses to come out through your dry throat.
You don't know where you are, who's speaking to you, or what's happened. But you obey, despite whatever may be going on.
After a little while, you feel something cold on your right arm. You flinch at the sensation but it gradually starts to feel better. Must've been an ice pack or something of the sort.
"I bet that feels better. I'll bring you something to eat! How does spaghetti sound?"
