(7) Memories
Once again I saw myself in the dream. I was crying in pain, but no one was there. My voiced echoed in the room, but still no one came. "Mom!" I shouted. My head began spinning and then I blacked out. I again woke up with a shock, breathing madly. "Jinsoo, you okay?" Mina asked, looking really worried. "I am okay," I replied. "You don't look like you are okay," she said. I sighed and sat with my back to the bed.
"What's the time?" I asked Mina. "7 o' clock," she answered. "Just wake me up after 20 minutes." I groaned and put the blanket over me. "Sure."
-Time skips-
Mina woke me up and after doing breakfast we headed towards the university. We sat in the classroom waiting for Jin to come. She entered the class looking paler than ever. "Hi..." she groaned. "You are not looking good," I said. "What happened?" "Temperature," she replied. Mina touched her forehead to examine her. "She is indeed boiling," Mina said.
We spent first two classes with Jin in the hospital wing. She was sleeping on the bed. Her eyes looking puffy and cheeks were swelled. I was very confused. Even while sleeping she looked so tensed. What had happened to her?
"Ahem." someone cleared their throat. I turned to see it was Seokjin. "Hello," he greeted. "Good morning," I said. "Morning!" Mina exclaimed. "I see you are really worried for your friend," he commented seeing Jin sleeping. "Mr. Aly is waiting for you girls at the court." "Yes, we are coming. Um, Jin?" Mina said. "Yes?"
"Have you thought of joining the team?" I asked. "Well...I was actually going to Mr. Aly for that. Thanks for reminding me," he said smilingly. For the last time seeing Jin and patting her head, we three headed for the court.
"Morning coach," we said. "Good morning. Where is Miss Hyun?" he asked. "She is in the hospital wing," Mina replied. "Very well," he said. "Start practicing." "Coach, I wanted to enter the team too," Jin said. "Ah...I see. Write your name on this paper and start practicing with the girls."
Jin picked up the basketball and started practicing with us. No doubt he was indeed a good player. "Today's lesson is shooting," coach said. "You pick up the ball like this" he held the ball in a specific position "and throw it like this." The ball landed perfectly in the net.
This shooting looked very advance. We picked up our balls and tried to do the same. I focused on the net and keeping the trick on mind I threw the ball in the net. To my surprise, the ball ended up in the net.
"Amazing Miss Jeon!" the coach appreciated. "Very well Mr. Jin and Miss Lee." I turned and saw that their balls also ended up in the net. We high fived each other. "You were amazing!" Jin exclaimed. "Yeah. You guys too," I said.
The next class was free and we decided to go to the hospital wing to see XeeJin. She was still asleep. I was getting suspicious. Jin was not like this, not so tired and so pale. Something WAS wrong with her. "Nurse!" I called. "Yes?" the nurse said.
"Why isn't she awake yet?" I asked. "Her condition according to us is very fragile. She is very tensed," she replied. "Okay," I said. I sat next to Jin's bed looking at her. "Jinsoo!" "Yeah?". Seokjin called me. "Mind if we three spend sometime in library?" he asked. "Sure." I smiled.
I stood up, so did Mina. We went to the library and sat around a table. "So, let's introduce ourselves properly. Can we?" Mina asked.
"So I am from Gwacheon. I am a new student here. My parents have studied from here. So it was their wish that I should study from here and I really like the education system here. And I have got such great friends here," Jin told.
"I was born here. My parents and older brother are in America for business. I've been living with Jinsoo and XeeJin for five years," Mina said.
"What about you?" Jin asked me. "I...I don't know," I gulped. "I don't know anything about my family." I said. Jin nodded his head. "It's okay," he said. "You will find them one day," he smiled. I looked up and he gave me a sweet smile. I smiled back.
We read some books. "Jinsoo!" Mina called me. "Come look at this." I and Jin went there as Mina handed me an old newspaper. "Look at the headlines." I looked at the headlines and something ached in my head. I felt dizzy. Darkness surrounded me and the last thing I knew falling on the ground and someone catching me.
