CHAPTER FIFTEEN
this gonna be so sad sorry guys )):

When they woke up it was nothing like Taehyung would have expected, he woke up by Jungkook gently placing kisses down his jawline until he reached the boy's chin and went straight up to his lips, kissing them right when Taehyung opened up his eyes, waking up by those soft kisses from the boy he loved the most.
He forgot for about a minute about the fact that they were broken up, he just snuggled closer to the boy who was still wrapped up in the older's arms, pressing his body to Taehyung's.
Their kiss seemed to last forever-, it took Taehyung a dozen tries to get his mind stop spinning from how amazing it felt kissing him right here, right now. The bright sunlight shining through the curtains on 8am in the morning.
It seemed to be a pretty day outside, no clouds anywhere to be seen, the sky in such a light blue that it could become Taehyung's favorite color.
If only his favorite color wasn't already the color of Jungkook's eyes as he realized once again when Jungkook pulled back from the kiss and stilled, looking deeply into Taehyung's dark eyes. There were no words needed, both boys knew exactly that a kiss was something both were longing for since the day all this drama started-, a kiss like this. Not a meaningless one that was exchanged during sex.
"What's that about, baby?", Taehyung asked, blinded by the younger's puppy face with those pouty lips and a cheeky grin playing around his lips. "Did you make up your mind?"
Jungkook looked dumbfounded for a bit, lifting his brows before he sat up in bed and brought distance back in between them, "No, why would I?"
"You just kissed me as if we never fought-", Taehyung whispered, disappointment swinging along his raspy voice.
Jungkook shrugged and then got up. He seemed so fine, there was nothing left of the boy who cried so hard last night, shedding angry tears over this whole situation-, he just smiled and the world seemed to be alright. At least for him.
"I kissed you because you're a good kisser", he grinned. "And you weren't waking up, so-"
Taehyung nodded slowly, "It's only 8am, why do we have to wake up early? Shouldn't you be hungover?"
The younger shook his head, pointing to the aspirin and his empty water cup, "Seems like I was smart enough last night to put everything I'll need right on my nightstand."
Tae gulped dryly, he didn't even remember that Taehyung was the one who brought him all this, just like he was the one who brought him to bed and saved from more embarrassing happenings at that bar. Jungkook however decided to act as if he wouldn't remember how much he cried last night, maybe if he pretended to be fine-, he'd actually be fine sooner or later.
"Let's go on a city trip. We're only in Chicago for a short time, we should enjoy it, shouldn't we?"
Taehyung nodded, "Sure", he said and then sat up as well, stretching his arms as he yawned tiredly. Other than Jungkook the older didn't get much sleep last night. He had waited till the boy fell asleep in his hug and then just cried for a few hours-, not knowing how to stop. All he wanted was to hold this boy forever but he didn't even seem to want to be hold. "Let's make our last few weeks memorable", Jungkook cheered and then got up, heading over to the dresser where he pulled out a hoodie from Taehyung.
The older's heart ached a little when he saw Jungkook wearing his fluffy sweater, it suited him so well. He was made for wearing Taehyung's clothes, they looked perfect on him. But while Jungkook acted as if he didn't notice Taehyung's stare and the tiny tear that fell off his cheek, Taehyung could only hold back the sobs because he knew he couldn't be the weak one in this.
In the end, he was the one who ruined everything.
It's not like Taehyung didn't try to make it right, he had put Jungkook first in everything-, he had filled countless pages in his diary with him but the younger seemed to not even have read until there. There were days when he spent in so much happiness that he doubted for a second if he deserved it. He put his team at work behind Jungkook, made sure to almost always do what Jungkook wanted him to.
Sadly almost is never enough.
He just realized that when he saw Jungkook grabbing his phone and swiping through some boy's faces, chuckling when he saw a hot one.
"What are you doing?", Taehyung asked curiously, forcing himself to seem alright.
"I downloaded tinder this morning", Kook giggled, "I mean-, we're in Chicago and here's probably lots of hot guys. Don't wanna miss out on some good sex, y'know", he winked. Taehyung's heart dropped, "We just broke up yesterday.."
Kook looked at him confused, "So what?", he laughed, "I'm over it", he lied and then quickly glanced down to his phone to text some guy back he just matched with.
"Seriously?", Taehyung asked silently, "You're here on vacation with me-, you could just have sex with me if you're that horny that you wanna hook up with random guys."
"Wrong", Jungkook said sharply, looking up. "I want to sleep with a guy who can be my man in the future, who's not going to use me for sex and then push me away like his last few fucktoys. I want to be fucked by a guy who will hold my hand in public and not pretend I'm his fucking assistant. I deserve better than you", he shrugged and then put his phone away. "Let's go?", he put his smile back on and Taehyung was pretty close to just leave this hotel and never come back in. But he stayed. As so often, probably his worst habit throughout his life, he stayed when it hurt the most.
"Why did you kiss me earlier if you're clearly so over me?", Taehyung asked with a sigh.
"As I said, you're kinda good at kissing? Where's the problem, don't be dramatic about it, we kissed before."
Well, but to Taehyung it meant something.
He didn't say it though, he just grabbed their bag and said, "How about we'll go grab some breakfast at a coffee shop and then visit an art gallery? Or is there anything you would prefer to do?", he suggested to get rid off this unnecessary fight that was building up.
Jungkook shrugged, "Sure, let's do that."
They left the hotel room and headed downstairs, not saying a word.
In the lobby, Jeno was standing with another boy, they were cleaning up the mess from the hotel bar form last night. Parties around here escalated pretty much all the time the later it got. "Oh you two seem to have made up", Jeno cheered and put his thumbs up when he saw them passing by.
Jungkook laughed, "Nah, we're just going on a city trip."
Tae's heart ached a little when he heard Jungkook denying their relationship that easily. What if he really was that quick at getting over him?
Apparently Taehyung had always been someone you could easily find closure with. Jennie did the same back then with Lisa, at this point Taehyung questioned if Jennie was ever in love with him or if it was all just for publicity. Her agency was horrible, they could have forced her to do all that.
But on the other hand, Taehyung had stopped caring about all of this the second he saw Jungkook leaving that room after Taehyung had fought with Lisa.
As much as the past hurt and as much he still suffered from losing Jennie without ever getting a proper explanation-, none of this was important anymore.
Now that Jungkook had entered his life, everything revolved around this pretty boy with his cute nose and the fluffy hair. Taehyung was all about him and he just wanted to think about him all the time-, there was no space for Jennie left.
Maybe that was how it felt when you finally get over someone.
Taehyung didn't feel the slightest pain of thinking about her with Lisa now, because in the end; Taehyung would have dropped every fucking person that exists to just be with Jungkook.
He still remembered the day Jungkook entered this small shop where they first met when Hoseok introduced them to each other. Kook's cocky attitude, this smile that didn't seem broken yet-, just all about this boy made Taehyung's heart speed up just now again, just being reminded of the moment they met.
Actually Jennie hadn't meant shit since that day.
It just took him a while to realize that.
And now here they were, walking along the street without saying a word. Kook was all excited, taking pictures of everything while Taehyung just walked along and admired Koo's bunny smile and the squeaky sounds he made when he saw a beautiful bird or a squirrel. He had to take pictures of everything and Tae could have watched him for ages.
If it wasn't Jungkook who suddenly stopped and hold up his phone, "Let's take a selfie", he smirked, "I want to have to remember you in a few years. Gotta tell my kids who's the boy who broke my heart for the very first time."
Wow, that hurt.
But Taehyung only nodded and put his arm loosely around Jungkook's waist. They took a pic and Jungkook smiled at it for a little too long, "We look good together."
Taehyung didn't say a word.
"Too bad we're not going to end up together."
As if he had known the future, Jungkook was just speaking out what both of them knew.
After those two weeks ended, they'd just leave each other's lives. The younger one would go back to Los Angeles, the place he hated. Continue school and find someone else to love, while Taehyung would be stuck at this job he wasn't happy with, oppressed by the opinions of everyone if he would ever come out and probably single forever-, because after Jungkook he would never let someone in again.
He just didn't know that yet. Neither did Jungkook know that he'd be perfectly fine in some months from now.
They entered a coffee shop that was held in a french aesthetic, looking so cute that Jungkook took pictures of it again and then forced Taehyung to play his model while he took pics of him in front of it. This felt like a date and it made the older's heart flutter a little when he thought about Jungkook having pictures of him he'd someday look back at and think about how happy this one day had been even though hell was loose in their world.
"Oh what a cute couple", the girl working inside smiled when she seated them in a corner of the place that was surrounded by flowers and pastel colors. A tiny table in between them that was white and looked like stolen from a dollhouse. Jungkook loved it, his smile was so big when he admired everything this little shop had. The girl gave them the menus. Kook ordered some coffee while Taehyung went with hot chocolate, both sharing a breakfast offer that was meant for couples because the girl wouldn't stop saying how cute they were.
And since she didn't seem to know Taehyung, none of them said a word, they just silently shared a look and that was the only time that day when Taehyung could swear he saw something broken in Kook's eyes. A tiny shimmer of pain whenever the girl wished them good luck, and a bitter taste down his throat after she left and they were left by themselves.
"It's funny, isn't it?", Jungkook said, forcing the pain down immediately.
"What do you mean?", Taehyung asked.
"How everyone is so fine with us, yet you can't be fine with being with me. You still want your Ex back even though I'm right here."
Taehyung shrugged, "You're my Ex too, now", he hummed. "Who says you're not the one I want back?"
"Oh shut up", Jungkook said sharply, "Fuck off, Taehyung. Don't you dare say such things. I don't want to fall back in love with you. You and me, we are over, is that clear?"
Taehyung held his breath and looked away, trying not to cry when Jungkook shut him up again.
"Yes, it's clear."
"I don't want you to try your manipulative shit on me again, you're not going to get me back. I'll move on and I'll be fine!", Jungkook snapped, "This is the first day in a long time where I don't feel like crying every second of the day and it's mainly because I know that once this vacation is over-, I can walk away from you. I'll be free of you."
Taehyung nodded again, "Okay, I won't try again", he said quietly and then just looked at his lap, a tear falling off his cheek which he couldn't held back in. Jungkook looked at him in embarrassment when the girl came back with their food, "Is everything alright?", she asked worriedly when the boy didn't even look up.
Jungkook rolled his eyes, "Just to make sure you know it too, this guy and me are over with each other. Just forced to spend our last vacation together. Apparently he's being a crybaby over it right now", he grumbled and stared at Taehyung angrily.
She put the food in front of them, apologized for interrupting and then rushed off back to some other guest so she wouldn't be in that embarrassing position any further.
Jungkook sighed and kicked Taehyung's leg beneath the table, "For a guy who made me sign a sex contract, you sure know how to be a dramaqueen."
"It was a boyfriend contract", Taehyung silently corrected, "I wanted you to be my boyfriend, I never used you just for sex. Stop saying that!"
"Oh", Jungkook laughed, "That's even more fucked up. How sick in the head must someone be to buy himself a boyfriend? Probably because you're not lovable at all-, if I were you I'd pay someone to love me back as well. Smart move, Taehyung."
Taehyung's heart ached again and again, those words just hurt but he would take them in and let Jungkook get his anger out on him.
He had to take his anger out on somebody and Taehyung felt grateful that Jungkook was comfortable enough to take it out on him.
It means that there was a certain amount of trust between them.
"Why do you never say something?", Jungkook groaned now, "You just let me insult you all the time and you never even try to justify yourself."
Taehyung bit his lips, "You never let me talk anyway", he whispered and looked out of the window, seeing couples pass by who were happily holding hands and giggling with each other. Families, old people and kids-, everyone was awake by now and on their way to live their life. Everyone seemed to be so much more fine than Taehyung was-, and that hurt like fuck.
"Oh fuck off", Jungkook laughed out again, "Poor little Taehyung who can never speak his mind because he's so oppressed by a 21 year old. Act your age, for fuck's sake", he said and then got up and rolled his eyes, "I'm doing the day trip on my own, you suck. Have fun with your couple breakfast."
He walked out of the shop without even looking back for one damn time.
Leaving Taehyung all by himself with a big breakfast and tears falling off his cheeks nonstop now.
"Hey, you alright?", the girl from before asked who was working here. She stopped in front of the table and sat down on Jungkook's empty seat. Taehyung only shook his head, thankful that someone stepped in and got him out of this embarrassing situation where he sat here all alone.
"Look", she smiled and showed her ringfinger, "I'm happily married so this is in no way me trying to flirt or anything but if you need someone to talk or have breakfast with-, I'm here for you. I know how it feels to be left by someone you're still deeply in love with."
Taehyung looked at her for a little while and then a smile struggled through his tears, "Congratulations to being married", he said softly and the girl smiled back. "Thank you", she said and reached her hands forwards shyly, "I'm Lyza, who are you?"
Taehyung took her hand and shook it, introducing himself meanwhile, "Tae, just call me Tae."
"Nice to meet ya, Tae", Lyza's smile was glowing and it made Taehyung want to smile so bad. Maybe Chicago wasn't so bad after all.
"So your Ex had a rough day?", she giggled and Taehyung couldn't help but laugh as well, "He's pretending to be fine with our breakup when in reality he's crying and yelling at me all the time because he's hurt."
"Why did you two broke up?", she asked carefully, "If you don't mind me asking."
"Oh well, that's a long story .."
And for the first time since Taehyung had met Jungkook, someone was actually making an effort to listen to his side of the story.
All watched by Jungkook who sat outside the shop and cried endless tears because he saw Taehyung's smile again.
But he wasn't the reason for it anymore.
