Doomsday

Breeze's POV
You know how sometimes you make a decision and then slowly start to regret it.

Yeah. Big mood, oof, F in the chat for me please.

Watching that multi-colored gang of kids run into a street without checking to make sure that it's safe was making me regret my choices just a bit. Expect for the one in white, who walked the extra five feet and waited two and a half minutes for the cross walk sign to say he could walk, which was bizarre.

'What was I doing again?'

I shook my head. Hoping that the kids wouldn't get hit by cars, I started towards the one place that had the answers to almost everything. If it was information on something that didn't exist...

Doomsday had it.

"Well, well, well, look what the wind brought in. How ya doing today, sweetheart?" Rufus McCallister asked, spinning his chat to face me as I walked in.

"Hey Doomsday! I was hoping you could help me? I need intel." I asked cutting straight to the chase. If I remembered anything about the Grundle, it was that it tracked fast. Once it locked on to you, you were minced meat, end of story!

I quickly explained to him about my... 'dungeon encounter'.

"So you and the mail kids started up that game again huh?" He asked with a smile, "gonna be honest, I'm sad you didn't come and ask me to join."

"We were on the other side of town, Dooms!" I lied with a laugh.

"Still." He shrugged. "To answer your question about the Grundle, it hates light. Like a vampire—"

"Had a baby with a dinosaur?" I offered with an uneasy smile.

Why are you so weird?

'I don't know...'

"Exactly! I'd use light weapons and magicks to defeat it if I were you. And as you can guess, it only hunts at night."

"Good to know. Thanks Dooms." I said as I started to leave.

Time to buy a flashlight?

'I guess?'

"Oh hey, Breezy! I got something for you, as a thanks for helping me clean the store the other day."

I turned around confused as he grabbed a clear bag of a... comic inside?

"I saw you had a copy on you the other day, figured you might want to read the new issue." Rufus said, handing me the bag. I held it at a different angle so the light stopped glaring against the cover.

"The newest issue of Starfarer? Isn't this limited addition or something?!" I asked instantly holding it out and away from me. "Why..."

"I figured you'd like to read it."

"But— you're giving it to me for free? How do you know I'm not just going to turn around and sell it?"

He gave me a look that clearly said 'are you okay?' Instead he just shook his head.

"Sweetheart it's a gift. What you do with it after you walk outta this building is none of my business!" He held his hands up in mock defense.

I stared at him. Then at the comic. Then back at him.

"Thanks Dooms." I said putting it into my bag carefully.

"No problem kiddo. Have fun with your game!" Doomsday yelled after me as I left quickly.

'Now time to buy those flashlights.'

Oh joy!

A/N
Okay, okay. It's a short and sweet chapter that is basically just filling up space that kinda needs to be here just so there isn't a massive time gap. Anyway if you are wondering why Doomsday doesn't offer her a chance to win the Illuma sword, he thinks she's playing DND. The only reason he offers it to Lloyd and the gang is because, seeing their getup, he thinks their a live action roleplay group thing.

Anywho~ there are dogs barking like mad outside and I'm scared of what they might be barking at but I'm going to ignore it and hope nothing bad happens. And the air conditioner just turned on so that should tone out the barking.

Good night!

Sincerely, the sleepless author.
