The Lost Station ID

Have you ever heard of something called "Teletoon"?
Teletoon is a Canadian animation network, debuting in 1997 alongside The Comedy Network and Space Channel, when cable channel options opened up in the country during the late Nineties. Originally owned as a joint venture between Family Channel (then a joint venture between Astral Media and WIC), the two big Canadian animation studios Cinar and Nelvana, and Shaw, as of 2013, it is wholly owned by Corus Entertainment, who also own YTV and Treehouse TV among other kids networks.
The company's first mascot was named "Teletina", which was a face in their logo from 1997-2005.
The older logos and ID's featuring the logo can now be found all over YouTube.
It has been a few years since the events of my adventures with Percy on the island we once called home on Sodor.
We did find a cure for our friends since those years and put down the beasts roaming the island that looked like Gordon and Ivo Hugh, but it turns out, like Teletubby Land, things got worse from there.
It was around one morning after I brought Percy back from work the night before when I got a package and a letter from Corus Entertainment reading:
"Dear Robert Hogan,
We heard about your exploits and adventures through the wasteland you once called home as well as Ted Morgann's creation of the lost Teletubbies episode about the Darkness, so we sent you a DVD of a piece of lost media from the Teletoon network featuring their old logo.
When you finish watching it, please make sure you send it to everyone online.
Best Wishes,
Corus Entertainment."
I brought the package inside and opened it. What was inside was a Teletoon VHS tape, with Teletina looking terrified and the Darkness surrounding it. The title on the cover read "Teletoon: The Corruption".
"This had better be good." I thought to myself.
I set the tape in the player and sat down to watch it.
Before the tape started, a warning appeared and it read:
"What you're about to see is a Teletoon ID which was to promote Learning with Pibby, the new Adult Swim pilot short. Be sure to let no children under any age save for 18+ watch this trailer. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED!"
"Oh dear." I sighed.
The ident soon began with Teletina on a yellow background with a purple shape behind it.
It had a look around before going to blow a bubble, which I thought was going to be a more high-quality version one of the old bubblegum idents for the network.
Just then, there was a crash in the background and the bubble popped, causing the logo to jump and fall in surprise before I saw the Darkness appear with our former friend Trevor emerging from the mass.
The logo tried to escape the corrupted traction engine and almost got away when it ran into the cactus from the parachute ident.
Sadly, Trevor grabbed the logo, who screamed with such horror as it was pulled into the mass with him.
I was then treated with a shot of the Darkness for almost 4-9 seconds when the logo emerged from it, and my god, it was terrifying to look at.
Its' pupils were missing, parts of the corruption were all over it and the mouth was stretched out.
Appearing underneath the glitchy logo was the network's old slogan "It's Unreal" in the Pibby font.
Once it faded out, the tape ended.
I was even more terrified than our first encounter with it back in 1994, so I promptly yanked the tape out, ripped the footage and uploaded it to YouTube, hoping someone would reply to the video while I threw the tape like a boomerang at the lake near the Vicarstown Bridge.
A few minutes later, I got several comments, including one from Teletoon themselves and 205tob, who had found the THX trailer with the Darkness during late April.
This is what they said:
205tob: "Now you know how I felt when I saw that THX Pibby trailer!"
Teletoon: "We do apologize for this ID, kind sir. This ended up being shown after an episode of Ned's Newt, as the channel was hijacked by a person named Ronnie Matthews, who just outright knew our company was vulnerable back in our network's infancy. Again, we're sorry for terrifying you with this station ident."
I replied back to accept Teletoon's apology and knew right away Ronnie Matthews might have also been behind using the Darkness in the THX trailer 205tob had seen.
Later, I told Percy about the ident and he let out a very annoyed sigh, given the times he fought the Darkness, though he was lucky to believe me.
If you see a VHS tape with a lost Teletoon station ID, throw it away or leave it very well alone.
You may never know what you'll find on it...
