Chapter 24
The moon hung high in the sky, casting a silver glow across the terrace as Sanjana paced her room, her mind swirling with unanswered questions. Taehyung’s words from earlier kept replaying in her head.
"The bracelet tells a story… and seeing it on you? It fits better than I imagined." His words ringing in her mond. "Why did his tone feel so… personal? And why did it tug at her heart in a way that left her unsettled?"She was questioning herself again and again.
Her fingers brushed against the delicate charm bracelet on her wrist, the tiny trinkets clinking softly. She stopped pacing, took a deep breath, and made up her mind. If she didn’t ask Taehyung about it now, the questions would eat away at her all night.
Steeling herself, Sanjana quietly slipped out of her room and made her way to Taehyung’s. His door was slightly ajar, and she hesitated for a moment before gently knocking. “Come in,” Taehyung’s familiar voice called out from inside.
She pushed the door open to find him sitting on the edge of his bed, drying his hair with towel. The soft amber light of his lamp illuminated his face, his expression calm and focused as he absentmindedly strummed a quiet tune. When he looked up and saw her, a small smile curved his lips.
“Sanjana,” he said, setting the towel aside. “Didn’t expect to see you this late. What’s up?” She lingered in the doorway, her hands nervously twisting the hem of her shirt. “I… I wanted to talk to you. About the bracelet.” Taehyung raised an eyebrow, his smirk turning playful. “Couldn’t resist its charm, huh?”
She managed a small smile, stepping closer but stopping a few feet away. “You said it tells a story. What did you mean by that?”
For a moment, Taehyung just looked at her, his expression unreadable. Then he sighed and patted the edge of the bed next to him. “Come here. It’s easier to explain than you think.” Her shyness flared, but she cautiously took a seat, keeping enough distance between them.
"Now say Taehyungiee I want know about the bracelet" Taehyung said in a playful manner to ease her. She giggled a lil,"dear Taehyungiee...will you tell me about this bracelet ...please....". This made Taehyung’s heart beat fast and faster than ever, but controlled at front of her.
“The bracelet,” he began, turning slightly to face her, “was something I made a long time ago. Each charm represents a moment, a memory that meant something to me. But…” He paused, his voice softening, “there’s one charm that stands out—the one I added when I met you.”
Sanjana’s breath caught. “Me?”
He nodded, his gaze unwavering. “The tiny star,” he said, pointing to the charm on her wrist. “It represents hope. You brought a light into my life that I didn’t even know I was missing. Every time I look at it, it reminds me of you.”
Her cheeks flushed, and she quickly looked down, her fingers brushing over the star-shaped charm. He didn’t say much more, nor did he press her to respond. Instead, he leaned back slightly, watching her with an unreadable expression.
She stayed silent, the weight of his words pressing on her heart. Her mind was a whirl of emotions as she left his room quietly, unable to form a reply.
Once back in the safety of her room, Sanjana leaned against the door, her fingers still clutching the bracelet. Taehyung’s words echoed in her mind, and the sincerity in his tone had left little room for doubt—he loved her.
But as her heart fluttered at his confession, a deeper confusion took root. While Taehyung’s feelings were clear, hers weren’t.
Her gaze drifted to the dress Jungkook had picked out for her, hanging neatly by the closet. Comfort and style, he’d said. She smiled faintly, remembering the way his voice had softened when he spoke to her. Jungkook’s quiet moments of care had always drawn her closer, and she couldn’t deny the way he made her feel safe.
And yet, Taehyung’s charm had its own pull. The bracelet, the words, the way his gaze softened when he spoke of her—it was overwhelming.
She sank onto her bed, staring at the tiny charms glinting in the moonlight. Each one told a story, and now, one of those stories was hers.
Meanwhile, Taehyung leaned back against the headboard, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips. He absentmindedly twirled the guitar pick in his fingers, his mind replaying the scene from just moments ago.
“She came,” he murmured to himself, chuckling softly. “I knew she would.”
He had counted on Sanjana’s curiosity, her need to find meaning in the subtle details she always noticed but rarely voiced." And the bracelet? It was perfect bait."
Taehyung’s gaze shifted to the drawer of his nightstand where he kept the box of charms. Most of the bracelet’s supposed ‘stories’ were fabrications—little pieces of nonsense crafted to pique Sanjana’s interest and draw her closer to him.
But the star… The star was different. That charm held truth, though he hadn’t planned to share its real meaning. Not yet.
Leaning forward, he chuckled quietly again. “She’s so easy to read. She needed to hear the story, needed to feel important. And now… now she’ll wonder, just a little more, what’s behind all of this.”
His eyes darkened, his voice becoming more focused. “I gave her just enough. Enough to make her question things, to make her wonder why it’s all about her. Let her connect the dots.”
He stood, pacing slowly across the room. “It’s working. The more I let her think, the more she’ll be curious about what I really feel. She’ll come to me. She won’t have a choice.”
He paused by the window, looking out at the quiet night, his expression a mix of determination and satisfaction.
“The game’s not over yet, Sanjana,” he muttered under his breath. “But I’m already a step ahead.”
