Chapter Twenty-Two: The Sentences

Slappy, Kai, Bill, Shelly, Kaila, Bell, and the hooded figure walked down the hallway, their hands - or hooves if they are a yak - held up high. Bullheit was behind them. He gripped his gun and aimed it at the last person who was in line, the hooded figure.

"That is it," the commander said. "No sudden moves. I want to see your hands and do not need any of you to get out of line."

"May we talk?" Kaila spoke.

"No."

"But I have a question."

"A question? For who?"

"For you." She let out a cough. "Why were you pretending to be a traitor?"

He snickered. "Seriously? You? You are wondering why I am not a real traitor? Like you are?"

"I am not a traitor. I worked for Shelly way before your leader hired me."

He snorted. "Shameful. You tricking Lord Zorac like that? He had faith in you. That is why he put you in the second-highest command."

"How can you say that? He never has faith in any of his workers. Remember what happened to Ameo?"

"Silence!" The commander aimed his space gun at her. "Nobody mentions him or even his name."

"Hold on," Bill cut in. "Who is Ameo?"

"Shut up!" Bullheit shouted. "Or I will shoot and make holes in all of you! And I will not hesitate!"

The group soon entered the throne room. On his throne was none other than Zorac. He leaned forward and glared at the group. His guards were in front of his throne. They ran to them and circled around them. They pointed their space guns at them.

"Lower your hands and get on your knees," a guard demanded. "Show respect to Lord Zorac."

The boys and girls did what they were told and got down on the floor.

Kai and Bill looked at each other. Slappy hugged on Shelly's arm. Kaila looked down, and Bell's starry body shivered. The hooded figure stayed silent.

"I am disappointed in all of you," Zorac began. "Except one. I assigned each of you a job. I spared your lives. And this is how you repay me?" He leaned back and lowered his voice. "Bell. Rise."

Bell heard him and floated up. She tried keeping herself still. "Y-yes?"

"You are the only one who did your job as instructed."

"But...uh...I escaped. I escaped from the tube."

"I will not hold that against you. It all went wrong when he..." He pointed a finger at Bill. "...decided to 'save' you."

Her eye widened, and she glanced at Bill. "He...he saved my life?"

"He got you out of tube, and the Lubriem brought you back to life."

"Stop referring her as that!" Slappy exclaimed angrily. "She has a name! Her name is Shelly! And how did you know that Bill freed her? And Shelly revived her?"

"Silence, you dummy!" one of the guards ordered, shoving the tip of his gun against the puppet's wooden body.

Zorac raised a hand. The guard noticed and slowly walked away from Slappy.

"I am not worried about them talking without permission," the leader told his guards. "I just want to get this over with and sentence them."

The group jumped a little at what he just said.

"L-Lord Zorac?" Bell stammered. "W-what do you mean by that? S-sentencing us?"

"You will find out. Besides, it does not concern you or the girls."

Slappy, Kai, and Bill gulped.

Zorac stood up and placed his hands on his hips. "For doing what you were told and having to be interrupted during the process, Bell, I will spare you, and you will be put back in the tube."

"No!" Bill protested.

"As for the rest of you, you will be punished." He glared at the girl yak. "Kaila. Rise."

Kaila sighed and stood.

"How could you do this to me? How could you betray me? You were an excellent person in my crew. Better than my brother."

"Hey!" Bullheit snapped. "I heard that!"

"I never betrayed you. I never worked for you in the first place. I knew that you were up to no good, so I went uncover."

"So you were a fake. What you said and did was all a fake."

"Pretty much. And I do not regret any of it. What I believe and stand for is true."

He narrowed his eyebrows. "You will be punished. Severely."

"No!" Kai cried.

"What about the Lubriem, Sire?" a guard asked.

"Punish her. Hurt her, but do not break her bones. We still need her to make more "Non-Fiends.""

"And what technique should we use to make her suffer?"

"You may choose. I only ask that it must bring pain and misery."

"No!" Slappy proclaimed.

"And as for the boys..." Zorac looked at them. "...they will be hung."

The villains gasped.

He smirked. "Hung over a vat of deadly chemicals."
