Chapter Twenty-Seven: Discussing the Importance

Ameo put Slappy on the counter. The puppet was sitting, and his legs dangled off the counter.

"Please lie down," Ameo ordered. "I need to examine you thoroughly."

"W-why?" Slappy sputtered. "It is just my face that has the black and purple stuff."

"That stuff is liquid. Blood that only "Non-Fiends" have."

"What?" Bill spoke.

"I will explain."

Slowly and carefully, Slappy lied down. He was on his back, and his stomach heaved.

"How is he doing that, narrator?" Kai asked. "His belly does not exist, and he has no lungs!"

I know that, but I am the narrator. I can say whatever the heck that I want.

"Okay." He thought for a moment. "Then you can say that Zorac is dead."

Woah. Why would I say something like that?

"So that the three of us will not have to bother with him. None of us want to fight him."

I rolled my eyes. That is, if I had eyes. I am a narrator.

Boy. I would never have guessed that you are lazy villains.

"Hey! I resent that remark!"

"Well, if you cannot kill off Zorac..." Bill piped in. "...then the least that you can do is kill off the dummy. Nobody likes him."

"I heard that!" Slappy yelled.

"Shh!" Ameo shushed. "Be quiet! All of you! I need to concentrate."

"Yeah!" the puppet agreed. "He has to find out what is wrong with me."

Ameo glared at him. "Just shut your mouth."

Ameo began examining the wooden dummy. He gripped the gray jacket and slipped it off of his patient. He folded the jacket and put it to the side. He then looked back down and squinted.

Through the puppet's white shirt, he could see something unusual on his chest. Something that was not supposed to be there.

Something deadly.

It was the same purple and black stuff that appeared on the puppet's face. The spot on his chest was as big as a rash. But it was worse. Much worse. Ameo knew.

"Just as I thought," Ameo said sadly. "It is really bad."

Slappy immediately sat up and turned to look at him. His wooden body shook. "W-what is wrong with me?" he stuttered.

"I am sorry to tell you..." He sighed. "...but you have been exposed."

"Exposed? To what?!"

"The "Non-Fiend" blood. I told you that earlier."

"What is the "Non-Fiend" blood?" Kai said.

"It is liquid. Purple and black liquid that can slip through your fingers if you are not careful."

"What do you mean by that?" Bill said.

"I will show you."

Ameo pulled out the scissors from his pocket. He held out his arm and let the tips of the scissors touch his skin. He quickly cut his arm, and blood spilled. But the blood was not red.

It was black and purple.

"I am a "Non-Fiend"" Ameo explained. "I have the blood, so I know what I am talking about."

"Ooh." The yak stared at the liquid. "Can we touch it?"

"No!" He pulled his arm away and set down the scissors. He opened a drawer and picked up a bandage that was already unwrapped. He put the bandage over the cut that he had made. "No 'No-Fiend' should ever come into contact with the blood."

"'No-Fiend'?" the yellow pyramid repeated. "What the heck is a 'No-Fiend'?"

"People who are not "Non-Fiends." Regulars." He motioned to the threesome. "Like you three. And our readers are 'No-Fiends.'"

"Oh."

"This is confusing," the Taker of Chi admitted, rubbing his forehead.

Ameo patted Kai's back. "It is not confusing at all. You just need to learn. But now is not the time for lecturing." He turned back to Slappy. "We have to help your friend."

The dorito crossed his arms. "Why? What has he done for us?"

"It is what he will do for you." He walked around. "The prophecy states that three powerful villains from different worlds will defeat Zorac. Their names are Slappy, Kai, and Bill Cipher." He stopped walking. "If Slappy does not make it, then the prophecy will not be fulfilled...and your girls will die."
