Chapter Eight: A Short Trial

Three Years Ago...

Zorac was sitting on his throne and staring intently at the floor. Bullheit stood to the left of the golden throne, and Senlie stood to the right.

Bullheit had both of his hands behind his back. He was trying to stay in place, but his body shook. He was full of fear. He knew exactly why he was called here. Why Lord Zorac wanted him and Senlie to be here. At this very moment.

Someone was in trouble, and Zorac was going to give a punishment to that person. It was neither Senlie nor Bullheit who he was disappointed in.

It was a dear friend of Bullheit's. The only friend that he had.

The double doors to the throne room opened. The hinges made creaking sounds, and the commander had to cover his ears.

Two people shoved somebody through the doorway. The doors then closed. No creaking noises were heard this time, which was a relief for Bullheit.

Senlie stepped forward and waved a hand. "Come forth," he ordered. "Show your hideous face to us. Our Lord Zorac would want to spit in your face."

The person walked up to the throne. Zorac coughed, telling the poor person to stop. The person did what he was told.

"Bow," Zorac said in a low voice. "Bow to me, and I might go easy on you."

The person shook his head. "I am sorry," he apologized. "But I cannot."

"Ameo, please," the commander begged. "I do not want you to get hurt. Just bow. It is one of the easiest things."

Ameo, the one who was accused for denying an order from Zorac, put his hands on his hips.

"I cannot bow. I will not." He stared intently at their leader. "Not to a criminal who is willing to imprison and kill innocent people. If anything..." He paused and waited for Zorac to say something. Zorac did not say a single word, so Ameo continued. "...you are no leader. You are a poor excuse for one."

Senlie's eyes widened. Bullheit grew worried for his best friend.

The leader did not react in any way. He stayed perfectly still, not moving a muscle.

"Sire?" Senlie questioned, his eyes locked on Ameo. "What should we do with this traitor?"

Lord Zorac did not speak. He just stared back at the culprit.

"Brother?" Bullheit spoke up. "Lord Zorac? Um..." He tried finding the right words to say out loud without upsetting him. "...p-please do not hurt my friend. In fact, he is my only friend. I heard what he just stated. That was rude. But do not punish him severely."

Zorac looked at his younger brother and frowned.

The commander shook. "B-but it is your call, not mine."

He snorted and looked back at the traitor. He got up, and his eyes bulged.

"Why?" the leader finally spoke. "Why did you choose to betray me?"

"Is it not obvious?" Ameo questioned him. "I betrayed you for so many reasons, and they are good reasons."

"Then tell us. Tell me, your former leader, and the others your 'good' reasons."

Ameo cleared his throat. "For one, you kidnapped me and my people. You kidnapped Bullheit and the others and forced us into slave labor. Nobody should be a slave, not even Cartoon characters."

"What are your other reasons?" Senlie wondered.

"He kills. Our leader desires to kill ones who refuse to be enslaved or upset him. He is a bully and extremely wicked."

"He is not a witch," Bullheit told his friend. "And Lord Zorac has killed no one."

"Oh, he will." Ameo's eyebrows narrowed. "One day."

"I have had enough of this," Zorac commented. "All I asked of you, Ameo..."

"You demanded," the traitor interrupted. "You never ask."

"...is that you find the Lubriem and bring her here."

"And then what? Force her to make more of us? More "Non-Fiends"? And what would happen after we took over the galaxy? The universe? Would you kill her?"

"I—"

"Would you end her life on the spot? 'Cause I would not." He looked at the millions of stars that were in space. "She made good people. Good "Non-Fiends." Ones who believed what she believed. That there is a God who loves us all. She...she never made bad people." He looked back at Zorac. "Bad people are ones who want to bad. They have no good in them. But the Lubriem had good in her and still does."

"Enough!" Zorac exclaimed angrily. "Your punishment will be leaving this spaceship and never coming back. You will float into space and die."

"Fine. But it is you who is afraid of the truth."

"Guards!"

A group of guards appeared from behind the throne and hurried to Ameo. They grabbed ahold of him and dragged him away.

"Ameo!" Bullheit shouted. "No!"
