Trapped
pov. Poe
Even before I opened my eyes I felt pain. The two blaster wounds in my thigh and shoulder burned like fire. I felt that blood had crusted over my cheek. I could barely feel the fingers of my right hand.Blinking, I opened my eyes. I could see blurry metal bars in front of me. I was in a cell. My gaze wandered down. Thick metal buckles were closed around my joints. Another had been fastened around my chest. The bed on which I had been restrained was upright, so that I was forced to stand.
As a test, knowing that it would be useless, I pulled at my bonds. Burning pain shot into my shoulder. Groaning, I clenched my hand into a fist and stopped throwing myself against the bonds. Instead, I let my gaze wander around the cell. Looking for weak spots. There were none.
The only exit was the door two meters in front of me. There wasn't even a ventilation shaft. But even if I managed to free myself from my bonds and crack the door, I wouldn't be able to get five meters with my injured leg.
A hiss drew my gaze to the cell door. My gaze darkened and I put a mask of defiance and anger over my face. The man strode through the door with his shoulders straightened. He wore a tight, dark green uniform. It was reminiscent of the Empire's. Blond hair peeked out from under his mountain cap. His knee boots flashed even in the dim light of my cell. The badges on his chest identified him as a lieutenant.
Two stormtroopers followed him at a distance and took up positions on either side of the door."I see you're not dead." The man smiled arrogantly and folded his arms behind his back. "How advantageous for the First Order."
I glared angrily at the man in front of me. If he thought I would betray the resistance just like that, he was wrong. Jason was on this base. The resistance was the only family I had left after my parents died years ago. I would rather die than reveal the location of our base. "I won't tell you anything!"
The blonde tilted his head slightly "Think about it carefully." He stepped closer to my bed and stood next to a control panel "Is the resistance really worth dying for?"
I snorted bitterly and stared defiantly at the lieutenant. My hands clenched into fists. Inwardly I braced myself for the pain that was about to come. But I would get through this. I would protect my family. I would protect Jason. I would never forgive myself if something happened to him because of me.
The man raised an eyebrow arrogantly "So you're one of those types." He murmured quietly and pressed his gloved finger into the bullet wound in my shoulder. A stabbing pain shot through my shoulder. I tore my eyes open. A short cry of pain escaped me.
I heard my tormentor laugh tinnily. "Let's see how long" He came so close to me that the tip of his nose almost touched mine, sadism sparkled in his eyes. "until you break?!"
I swallowed hard and flinched back. Without taking his piercing gaze off me, the blonde went to the console and pressed a button with a clicking sound. Immediately, burning pain spread throughout my body. I gasped. My muscles cramped and trembled uncontrollably. Suddenly the pain stopped.
Breathing heavily, I let my head sink back. My fingertips twitched from the aftereffects of the electricity.
"Are you ready to talk now?"
I laboriously opened my eyes and glared stubbornly at the man. "Never!" My answer would certainly have been more impressive if my voice hadn't trembled.
The clicking sound was heard again. Screaming in pain, I strained against my bonds. I tried to somehow escape the all-consuming pain as the lieutenant repeatedly shot electricity through my body. Again and again my tormentor demanded the location of our base. Each time my answer was the same.
At some point I could no longer feel my body. Gasping, my head rolled to the side as the electricity was turned off. Gasping for breath, I fought not to lose consciousness.
"I've had enough of you!" the blond's harsh voice penetrated through the fog of pain. The man grabbed me by my hair and pulled my head up so that I had to look at him. "WHERE IS THE RESISTANCE!" he yelled. A few drops of spit landed on my face.
The man seemed to be slowly losing patience. He grabbed me roughly by the neck and smothered my air.Although my whole body was screaming in pain and I could hardly think clearly I grinned.
A little blood dripped from my mouth and landed on his black gloves. "I..." a cough shook my body "will..." I gasped for air, black dots began to dance in front of my field of vision "never betray them." I gasped.
Slowly but surely I ran out of air.Frustrated, my tormentor growled and let go of my neck. I sucked in air frantically. Before I could even catch my breath, the blonde grabbed my chin. My jawbone cracked slightly under his rough grip. "If you don't want to tell me, that's fine with me!" he hissed.I jerked my head a little to free myself from his grip. In vain. I howled as he tightened his grip.A cruel smile formed on his face "You won't be able to hold out against a Force user for long." With these words he let go of my jaw and walked with dull steps to the door. "You two," he looked at the two stormtroopers, "make sure he's still alive when I get back!"
The soldiers nodded in agreement and opened the door for their superior, through which he disappeared with quick steps.
Panic crept up inside me. I knew he was right. No matter how hard I tried, I wouldn't be able to hide the location of our base from a Force user for long. With a shudder I thought of the pain Kix went through when Leia read his memories. And he hadn't fought it.
I breathed in and out, trembling. I knew what I had to do. I just hoped I would have the strength to do it. I swung my head as far as my bonds would allow and smashed the back of my head against the metal behind me. My ears started to ring. I tasted blood in my mouth. I swung again and hit my head against the metal, harder this time. I saw the soldiers running towards me. My vision blurred. The air around me began to shimmer. A groan escaped my lips. My body was close to giving up. Breathing heavily, I raised my head again. Just one more time and it would be over, I could feel that.
But before I could put my plan into action, the soldiers reached me. One of them grabbed my head firmly and pressed it against the backrest.
Screaming, I tried to free myself. I threw myself back and forth with all the strength I had left in me. "Let me go!" I yelled in a hoarse voice. I felt them securing my head with a metal buckle. "Let me die!" I begged desperately. Tears formed in my eyes. The First Order would kill them all. They would kill Jason. They would kill Kix and Omega. They would kill the only family I had left and it would be my fault.
"How unusual." a deep voice pulled me out of my rage.Breathing heavily, I rolled my eyes and looked at the door. My eyes widened. Cold sweat broke out on my forehead. Whatever came through the door didn't look natural.
Two bulging scars ran across his face. His nose was strangely deformed and his face looked as if the faces of two different people had been fused together. But despite his crippled appearance, this something radiated such coldness that any fire would go out immediately.A grin appeared on the monster's face "People usually beg for their lives." He came down the stairs and stopped just in front of me "But you're begging for your death." He looked at me almost curiously.
I didn't bother to hide my fear. My chest rose and fell heavily. I threw myself against my bonds in vain as the figure in front of me reached out its hand. "Now tell me" his orange eyes darkened "what I want to know!"
My hands clenched into fists "No."
Almost annoyed, the man in front of me sighed "You won't have a choice" he tilted his head "your mind will either speak or it will break!" he closed his eyes and pointed his deformed hand at the front of my head.
I tore my eyes open, whimpering. A pressure was building up on my head. So strong that it felt like it would burst at any moment. I could feel the Force user rummaging through my mind. How he looked at one memory after another.
I tried desperately to prevent him from discovering Jason. From discovering how much he meant to me. But I couldn't, he was just too strong.
"Oh, I understand." he murmured, his eyes still closed "That's why you endure all this." a cruel smile played around his lips "I assure you, he will be the first to die when we attack your base."
I screamed in despair. A tear rolled down my cheek. With all the willpower I had left, I hid our base from him. My whole body tensed up. Blood ran from my nose. Then from my ears. Then from my eyes. But I didn't give him what he wanted. Not if it meant that Jason was going to die. The stabbing pain in my head became more and more intense. I couldn't even scream anymore. My mouth was just twisted in silent cries of pain. The only thought that had room in my pain-filled mind was not to give in. I repeated these words over and over. Like a mantra. I musn't give up. I had to protect Jason. I musn't give up.
