Nearly there

pov. Omega

Coughing, I waved both hands in front of my face to clear the thick smoke. The control panel in front of me kept spraying sparks and was completely useless.
My nostrils flared a little as I drew in the air. The smell of burning metal reached my nose. My gaze wandered over the shuttle, with which I had fired at the first-order turrets just a few seconds ago. One wing had been torn off during the crash landing. Bullet holes the diameter of my head covered the outer shell of the ship. Smaller fires raged throughout the ship. They grew steadily and moved unstoppably towards the fuel tank.
"Kix!" I shook the unconscious man next to me roughly by the shoulder. This ship was about to blow up. We needed to get out of here fast.

Gasping for air, with his hands over his head, Kix opened his eyes. "What...?"
I didn't let him finish, "Fire. Fuel. Kabum." We didn't have time for a bigger explanation. With a fluid movement, I pulled my bow from my back and shot the windshield in front of us, which miraculously hadn't even been scratched.

The glass shattered with a clatter and fell onto the burning hull of the shuttle. Without wasting another second, I put my bow back in its holder, climbed from my seat onto the control panel and from there through the broken windshield. In my haste, I didn't pay attention to the remaining pieces of glass that were still sticking out of the metal frame. A sharp pain shot through my upper arm. I growled in annoyance. Of course I had to get stuck on the part of my arm where I wasn't wearing armor. Ignoring the trickle of blood, I jumped off the front of the ship onto the cobbled ground. As soon as I landed, I heard a soft crunch next to me. Out of the corner of my eye, I could make out Kix's black helmet.
I picked up the legs and ran. It felt like I was moving in slow motion. My own breath rushed in my ears. Kix's footsteps next to me seemed like the sound of thunder.
A bang sounded. Unconsciously, I ducked a little and put my hands over my head. Kix didn't even flinch at the explosion, but grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me along with him "Don't stop....."
Before he could finish his sentence, we were torn to the ground by the shockwave of the explosion. Coughing, I landed on the stone floor and rolled over a few times until I came to rest on my stomach, groaning.

Clenching my fists, I shook my head a few times to clear the ringing from my ears. Coughing, I struggled to my knees and crawled over to Kix, who had been thrown against a starfighter a few meters away from me. "Come on," I grabbed both his forearms and pulled him to his feet, 'we have to get out of here!' I hurriedly let my eyes wander over the square through the visor of my helmet. The shuttle was on fire just a few meters away from us. The smoke could probably be seen several clicks away. Through the thick smoke, I could make out several silluettes moving towards us.

I had to swallow and drew my bow. Even though we had survived the crash landing and the explosion of our ship, we were far from safe. We landed in the middle of one of our enemy's bases. Without reinforcements. Without a plan to escape.

Kix also seemed to discover our enemies now and drew his blaster rifle "We've dealt with worse." he muttered grimly, pointing his weapon at the soldiers.
I admired my brother's optimism "Tell me, have you hit your head?" I drew my bow and let the first arrow fly. The purple projectile pierced my opponent's breastplate. The trooper collapsed with a smoking hole in his chest.

But almost immediately another one took his place. I narrowed my eyes to slits and shot one arrow after another into the ranks of my opponents.
Next to me, Kix also opened fire. Unlike me, he had set his rifle to stun. Even after everything the First Order had done, Kix was too kind-hearted to kill his flesh-and-blood enemies. He was a medic through and through.

Our enemies pushed us further and further back. Their red blaster shots flew through the air. Every now and then the red made the white armor glow reddish. Almost as if the blood on each of their hands was becoming visible.

All of a sudden, Kix let out a flood of curses. The barrel of his gun was smoking and when he pulled the trigger, nothing happened. He had run out of ammo. In one fluid movement, he stowed the rifle on his back and pulled the blasters out of his leg holsters. "I hate to say it," the brown-haired man barely dodged a shot that would have hit him in the head, "but we won't last much longer." He kicked a trooper hard in the chest. The soldier staggered back, collided with two of his comrades and pulled them to the ground with him.

I screamed as a blaster shot hit the back of my hand. I dropped my bow out of reflex. My weapon landed on the ground with a thud.
"OMEGA!" I heard Kix's worried cry next to me. He looked over his shoulder as he kept the troopers in front of us at a distance with crossfire.

Grimly, I put my bow away. With an injured hand, I wouldn't be able to land a single hit, but that didn't mean I was going to admit defeat. With a cutting sound, I pulled the vibroknife from its holder on my forearm. "I'm fine." I assured Kix and rushed towards the soldiers with a throaty cry. "Try to reach Jason through Comm." I shouted to my brother as I ducked under a punch and drove my knife through the gap between my helmet and back armor and into my enemy's neck. His blood landed on my helmet. The man slumped lifelessly to his knees in front of me. Before he had even reached the ground, I pulled the knife out of his flesh and turned to my next opponent.

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Kix stop shooting for a second to activate his comm. But suddenly he lowered his arm and stared past me up the rampart "We won't need the comm for this" he pointed up the rampart with his head and shot two troopers who had approached him from the right and left.

I also looked up the rampart and couldn't suppress a triumphant cry. Jason stormed along the rampart with Poe in his arms. There were no soldiers on the wall at the moment. They had all been detached to stop Kix and me. "Time to go." I exchanged a quick glance with Kix, who nodded to me.

Slowly, we began to retreat in the direction of the main gate. While I activated my comm, Kix kept our enemies at a distance as best he could with constant blaster fire.
"Jason, can you hear me?" my breathing was heavy, even though I hated to admit it, I was slowly but surely reaching my breaking point. The blaster wound on my hand was constantly sending pulsating pain through my whole arm. Blood kept oozing out of the wound on my upper arm, making its way down my arm and dripping onto the ground. I noticed how my movements became sluggish. How hard I was trying to dodge my opponent's blows.

"I'm a bit busy at the moment!" came Jason's choppy reply from the radio. I turned my gaze back up to the rampart. A group of soldiers had appeared in front of Jason. He just kept running. His size, his weight and the armor he was wearing did the rest. He plowed through his opponents like a battering ram. Three of the men stumbled against the wall, the fourth flew down the rampart in a high arc and landed on the stone floor with a nasty sound.

A trooper came roaring towards me. Without flinching, I hurled my knife and sank it unerringly into his heart. "Jason, get Poe out of here," I looked worriedly at the black-haired man. Even though I couldn't see much from down here, even a blind man could see that Poe wasn't in good shape. He had to get out of here and fast.

"I can't..." Jason started to contradict me.
I just choked him off "Kix and I will be fine and we will find you." With a shout, I jumped onto the shoulders of a trooper, hooked my legs on his torso, dropped and threw the soldier to the ground. I skillfully rolled off and thundered the handle of my knife into the groaning man's face. "GO!" I almost shouted into my radio as I jumped up again. I took a step to the side and ran the trooper, who was trying to cut me down from behind with his rifle, straight into Kix's fist.

I didn't get an answer. I didn't need to. Because I could hear the familiar thruster-like sound of Jason's jetpack.

As I continued to run towards the gate, I caught sight of two dozen troopers who had positioned themselves in front of our way out. I stopped abruptly.
A jolt went through my whole body as Kix ran into me. "This doesn't look good." His gaze wandered back and forth between the troops in front of us and the soldiers who had almost caught up with us. Our enemy had surrounded us.

I tightened my grip on the cold handle of my knife and raised my wounded hand to the level of my head for cover. Next to me, Kix loaded the last magazines into his blaster pistols. We stood back to back, ready to fight our way out. I let my gaze wander resolutely to the gate a few meters away from us. On the way there, it met the dozens of dead soldiers. Their blood seeped unstoppably from their bodies and stained the ground red.

Determined, I tilted my head back and forth, my neck cracking softly. None of the troopers made any move to attack us. They just stood there with their weapons pointed at us. Something was wrong. The soldiers had surrounded us. Kix and I were outnumbered. Why didn't they attack us?

Suddenly there was a hissing sound. Goose bumps crawled down my spine. I knew that sound. It was the sound of a rocket. I raised my head in horror. Trailing a trail of smoke, the projectile was heading straight for Jason. "JASON WATCH OUT!" I shouted into my radio.
But it was too late. The projectile exploded less than half a meter away from Jason. Knocked off balance by the shockwave, he stumbled. A shot echoed through the air. The red blaster bullet pierced his jetpack with unerring accuracy.

"Jason." I muttered in horror. Stumbling, he tried to regain control of his jetpack. To get what he could out of the machine. I had to swallow as the thrusters stopped working and Jason hurtled towards the yard in free fall. The Mandalorian hit the stone floor just a few meters away from us with a huge bang. He had curled up protectively around Poe and absorbed the entire impact with his armor. Jason rolled over again and again. Sparks flew through the air as the Beskar rubbed against the stones on the ground. His helmet was ripped off his head.

I had been so distracted that I hadn't noticed how the troopers had tightened the circle around us. It was only when the barrel of a gun appeared in my field of vision that I turned my attention back to the ground.
"Surrender," the trooper in front of me demanded forcefully, "you don't stand a chance!"

I clenched my teeth so hard that my jaw cracked and exchanged a glance with Kix. Barely perceptible to others, he nodded at me. Sighing, I flung my knife at the soldiers' feet. Kix's two blasters also clattered across the floor.

I could have sworn that the trooper was grinning victoriously under his helmet, "On your knees!"
With my fists clenched, I stared at the soldier from my visor as I dropped to my knees and clasped my hands behind my head. Kix did the same next to me.
I was very unwilling to surrender to the first order. But I knew when I had lost a fight. For now, it was wiser to do what they wanted. We had to wait for a better opportunity to strike back.

My eyes wandered to Jason. He had struggled to his knees, still holding Poe tightly against him. The black-haired man was literally clawing at Jason and had buried his head in the crook of his neck. The two of them were also surrounded by soldiers.
Jason's determined gaze met mine. A tiny smile tugged at the corners of my mouth. Discreetly, I nudged Kix with my foot, "On three." How convenient it was that the soldiers didn't speak Mando'a. Jason carefully released Poe's fingers from his and looked over at me in confirmation.

"Shut up!" the soldier in front of me snapped at me and jabbed me in the head with his weapon. As I was still wearing my helmet, I felt it but didn't take any damage. I ignored the soldier. Instead, I focused on Jason's right hand. I nudged Kix with my foot again. And pointed to Jason's hand with my head.

As soon as his third finger was in the air, I whirled across the ground, kicked the soldier in front of me in the legs and clawed at his weapon. Kix lunged at the trooper in front of him with a yell, dodging the shot meant for him and throwing the man to the ground. Jason drew his blaster and fired at the first trooper who tried to pounce on him. But the soldier didn't drop dead. He wasn't even hit. The blaster shot simply floated in the air. The troopers immediately stopped firing.

I had to swallow. Sweat formed on my forehead. A cold shiver crawled down my spine. It couldn't be.
I flinched a little as a door opened and a figure stepped out into the courtyard. The man's face was disfigured beyond recognition. A golden-brown robe enveloped his body. "Well," his face twisted into a cruel smile, "the attempt to save your friend was almost impressive."
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Poe's eyes widen in fear and slide back slightly across the floor.

The monster's gaze wandered to the blaster shot. With a single wave of his hand, he sent the projectile flying into a wall. "Anyway, this will be a good lesson for my student." He waved a hand and another figure appeared behind him. A black robe enveloped the body, the black hood covered the face.

My hands began to tremble. They were Force users. Not Jedi like some of my friends were. No, they were Force users using the dark side. I exchanged a desperate look with Kix and Jason. We are dead. We are all dead.
