Chapter 30 Breakout
Katie fell asleep on Thomas's shoulder. She had slowly closed her eyes and passed out without even thinking. Thomas couldn't help but chuckled slightly, and just watched over her in her sleep. He put his arm around her back once more, allowing her to be as comfortable as he possibly could without hurting her. He sighed happily, looking down at her, "Rest as much as you can, Katie. You deserve it."
He gently carried her to her room, and placed her on her bed as carefully as he could manage. He grinned as he tucked her in bed with some warm blankets so she wouldn't get cold. He pulled up a chair and decided to stay with her for a little while before he decided to go to bed himself. He sat down next to her in the chair that he pulled up by her bed. He sighed contently, and only focused on her.
"I will never understand how you are surviving through this on your own. We aren't always with you when you struggle the life you do when you're with your parents, or even any bullies that you are facing even. I will never understand why anyone would want to hurt someone as wonderful as you, Katie. I guess they just don't see who you really are, and who you can become."
"We do. We can see that, and we don't care about the mistakes that you have made. You are true to everything you do, and treat all of us with kindness and respect. We don't even ask you to do what you do, you just do it," he was whispering to her, as if she was awake, and everyone else was asleep. He gently patted her knee, feeling slightly awkward. He decided to let her sleep, and leave her alone until she was awake, or needed him.

"We're here," the blonde replied as she walked in front of one of the jail cells. She smirked, "Everyone, meet my boyfriend, Collin."
The brunette blushed and sighed out, "He is hot..."
Jayne rolled her eyes, "Shut up, NAME! He's not here for you, nor me. He's only here for boss. They are dating anyway," she smirked as she folded her arms. "You're nothing but a poor little girl, willing to do whatever it takes to get a guy on your side. Pathetic! Life isn't about love," she stepped closer. "It's about learning that you can't trust anyone to save you when you need it most, because no one will!"
NAME glared as she stared down Jayne, "You only say that because the man you loved didn't care about you. Maybe you're the one that is pathetic."
Jayne pushed NAME out of the way, "I warned you about speaking about him! If you don't want to cry like a little baby by the end of all of this, then I would suggest you to shut up!" She stormed off as she went to a panel, and unlocked it so Collin to leave peacefully.
He smirked as he kissed their boss, and she returned it willingly.
NAME bit her lip softly, "Okay... He is super hot! Like, totally hot in my book! Like, c'mon. I would totally die for this guy if he was my boyfriend!" She was freaking out and felt herself warmer than usual. "I think I'm gonna pass out!"
Collin chuckled after releasing the kiss, then walking over to NAME, "Oh, really then?" He grabbed her and kissed her on the lips, and it was deeper than what NAME had expected it to be as well. When they released it he grinned, "How did that feel to kiss a "hot guy" as you say I am?"
NAME used her hand as a fan for her face, and they all could tell that she couldn't believe that someone she told was hot kissed her. She swore that she was having a huge crush on this man, even though he was already dating her own boss. She nodded as she breathed out in response, "That felt... unbelievable... There's no perfect word to describe what I just felt.." she sighed happily. "I love you..."
Collin chuckled, "I'm starting to love you two. Who knows, maybe this relationship can be with an amazing kisser such as you."
NAME gasped and jumped happily, "Really?! Would you really do that for me?"
Jayne rolled her eyes annoyed, "Oh my gosh. She is such an idiot." Can't believe she's falling for a guy just like that!
"Jay? Is that really you?" A familiar voice shocked Jayne.
It was a voice that she would have never expected to here again. To her luck, she didn't face him when the shock formed. Her hand curled into a fist as she sighed to try to calm her nerves. She turned around, putting on an emotionless mask, "Don't call me that!"
He raised his hands, "I don't want any trouble. I'm just surprised that a pretty girl such as yourself is in a terrible place like this."
She glared, "Shut up. I don't need to hear your chatter. You spoke your peace before. There's nothing else that will change my mind otherwise. You should know that by now. I made that clear to you when I told you, didn't I?"
"Yes but-"
"Then no excuses, Barry," Jayne forced him to stop talking. "You already made this terrible, I would advise you to not make it worse. Alright?" She bent down as she faced his level when he sat down. "Are we clear on that? If I hear another peep from you, you will regret everything you've ever done."
Barry chuckled, "Oh, I have. Trust me, I have. Do you really think that spending time in this cell wouldn't do that for a person?" He looked at her in disbelief. "I didn't realize how low you thought of me."
Jayne seemed to have ran into the bars with great force that he was surprised that she didn't break anything, "I made that mistake of thinking high of you. I will never do that again! I will never let you into my life again. Because of you, I will never be the same again, and I will never be able to trust anyone ever again," her voice deepened as fire lit from her eyes as it stared into his soul. "I hate you. I hate you so much. I wish I could kill you right now."
Barry rose a brow, "That sounds a little too violent, even for you."
Jayne shook her head, "That doesn't matter, because I'm not the one you used to know. That girl you knew is dead. Do you know why? It was because of you!" Her rage boiled in her blood. "You killed her, and there is nothing left of her! Why shouldn't I be different and more violent than what I used to be?" She laughed softly. "It's much more fun this way, Barry. This is so much more fun. I feel free without you having to stop me! It's too late to gain back what you lost," she sighed. "I guess rotting in jail will do good for you."
Barry opened his mouth to speak, but he couldn't find the right words to what Jayne had just said to him.
She smirked as she chuckled softly, "Poor baby doesn't know what to say? Awe, too bad. I was expecting more of a fight from you! You being the fighter and all."
"You did tell me to shut up."
"Wow, I'm impressed. You normally don't listen to me. What's the occasion?"
He glared at her, "I just want to talk to you. Is that so bad to ask to have a simple and civil conversation with someone?"
She shook her head, "No, but it is when the conversation is between someone you hate, and someone you hurt. If you ask me, those two don't get along well with each other. So we might as well be done with all of this and forget this ever happened. I know that I'll forget," she turned to face him, standing back up. "Will you?"
He didn't answer for a few minutes, and Jayne started to walk away. Before she could get too far, Barry spoke up, "I don't think I can ever forget about you. About us, and knowing you, I know you won't either. The old you might be dead and gone, but you still have something in you that has stayed the same."
Jayne didn't turn. She was surprised that he was answering back, as if he was figuring out her deepest darkest secrets, "What is it? I doubt that you'll find something that you can't see, what is dead and gone."
"I see the willingness and determination in you. I see the woman that you have become. I see the pain that you try to hide beneath your skin, but no matter what you do, the pain and regret is still there. Aching at you like a disease, and it's killing you."
Jayne turned her head to the side, unable to see him too well, "How do you know if I'm even feeling this way? What do you know about being broken anyway?"
He chuckled, "Because that's how I've been feeling ever since I hurt you. I realized my mistakes, and I knew that I couldn't do anything about that. Ever since that day I've wished that I could change back time, but no matter how hard I try, I know I can't, and never will. I have to live what I've done, and it kills me to know that I've done it to someone I love. If only I can make it up to you somehow, even if you don't ever forgive me and trust me again."
Jayne turned her back towards him once more as she didn't speak for a little while. Then, she made her decision, "I'll think about it. For now, you're worth nothing to me," just like that, she walked away, leaving him in his thoughts.

Jayne rejoined the group outside as her boss looked at her displeased.
"What took you so long?"
"I had to take care of some unfinished business," Jayne wasn't willing to go into further details about the subject.
Her boss nodded, "Very well. Let's just get going. We don't need to be here any longer than we have been. Let's go," she motioned everyone to follow as the girls and her boyfriend left the building just in time before the cameras were finally working again.
He looked at his girlfriend curiously, "So... What are we going to do now? What's your plan, Leola?"
Leola smirked, "You remember Katie, don't you?"
"Of course I do!" He blurted out. "She's the girl that I've been..." he looked back and forth, making sure that no one else was near them when he told Leola, "messing in more ways than one." His smirk grew as he spoke.
Leola smirked, "Yes, that's the one. We need to keep her as depressed and stupid as much as we possibly can," her face brightened in a ugly fashion. "I have an idea on how to make that happen!"
Collin was all ears, "How do you plan on doing that?"
"You know how easy it is to make her vulnerable?"
He nodded, "Yes. What's your point?"
"My point is that we need to get her again and again until she is unwilling to fight anymore. We need to break her; destroy her anyway. Anything that gets her to her knees."
Collin grinned, "That sounds like a great idea to me. When do we get started?"

"You will no longer love me if you see who I truly am," Katie stated as she looked up at Thomas shaking her head.
Thomas rose a brow, "Why is that? Why wouldn't I?" He chuckled out of disbelief. "You're the most beautiful person in the whole universe. I would do anything for you."
Katie blushed as she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Though no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't smile at his wonderful comments, "Because I'm not who you think I am. I am a monster beneath this skin. I am someone that you might not know anymore. The girl you once knew years ago is dead. I'm just a figure of your imagination at this point."
Thomas was confused, "No you're not. You're standing right here in front of me. I can touch your hand easily. Obviously, you change. Everyone does, but you're still Katie. You still have a lot of wonderful qualities and traits that are familiar to me, but you haven't changed for the bed. You're just not used to growing mentally. It can be tough, trust me. It was tough for me at first; trying to become who you are meant to be, but you're still learning, and that's okay," he gently grabbed her hand. "Just know that I'll be here for you every step of the way."
Katie let go of his hand and turned away from him, "You know my parents wouldn't approve of this, right? They will kill you, then kill me. I could have said that they would kill both of us, but I didn't think about that until now. That doesn't matter anyway," Katie's mind went blank. "What were we talking about again?"
Thomas chuckled softly, "About how I am here for you. Then you went on a rant that your parents would approve, but before you say anything, let me say something first if that's alright," he spoke before Katie couldn't get a word out.
Katie just nodded knowing that she wouldn't be able to speak for some time.
Thomas sighed, wondering how he was going to say this to her, "Katie..." he started out, pausing for a moment before continuing. "I don't care if your parents approve of any of this. Of us being friends, or anything else. Don't let their decisions affect how you live your life, Katie. You get to choose who you want to be, and what you want to do. You have control of your life. You always have, and always will."
Katie was speechless. She had no idea what else to say. All she knew was that she was in tears. Tears that she couldn't hold back anymore. All she could do was hug him tightly. She had never had someone say anything like that to her, or have anyone care for her this much. She wasn't used to it, and she didn't know how to feel about it. She felt grateful, yet it felt strange to her at the exact same time.
Thomas grinned as he hugged her back gently. He was afraid of breaking her on accident. He wanted to be some sort of support to her, but didn't know how. He didn't have a single clue on how to help her. He didn't even have an advice to life her spirits. He felt like he couldn't be the person that did that. He started questioning if she actually needed him, he started questioning everything.
Katie sniffed as she looked Thomas in the eye, "You've always been a wonderful friend, Thomas. You, Maggie, and Nick all have, but I'm not sure if I can do this. I'm scared, Thomas! No, I'm terrified!" She started backing away from him slowly. "I will only end up hurting you all, and that's what terrifies me the most. If I don't leave, it will only end up being worse for you all. I have to go. It's the only way to keep you safe..." her voice started cracking, and the streams of tears only became worse as they streaked her face completely.
She could tell that Thomas slowly had his heart pulled on more and more, and she felt terrible doing this to him, but she knew that she couldn't stay anymore. She had to leave soon if they were going to be safe from her. It hurt her knowing that this was shattering Thomas, and she wished that they could run away together, but she had to be alone for a little while, and even for the rest of her life if that is what it took. She shook her head, "I'm so sorry, Thomas... But I have to figure this out alone without you or the others' help. I need to be able to find myself and find out who I am before anything else happens."
Thomas looked at her confused, "What do you mean?"
Katie blushed, "Remember when you said that it doesn't matter if my parents approve us being best friends?"
He nodded as he wasn't catching on, "Yeah, why?"
Her blush only deepened, "You also mentioned if we were ever more. That's what I'm talking about. If you want to be more, I'm not ready for that yet. I'm so sorry, but I don't think I will ever be ready for something like that. I don't think that I'll ever be able to heal ever again for that type of relationship, Thomas. I'm too broken for that! I'm too broken to ever be fine again! I'm too broken to be able to find love or anything that I wish to have! I need to accept that fact, and when I do, this will be a lot easier for me, and hopefully for you too," she kept on attacking words as if she was trying to race them to the finish line.
