Chapter 26 The Talk
Katie's mother growled, "She's not answering, and not moving this time either. Now we cannot see her true pain and agony."
"At least we can still do code "let it rain" on her. Now we don't have to have her squirm to escape our touch. Once she wakes up, she'll be so broken, she might as well be dead," he smirked as he went in for the prey, not holding back anything.
Her mother smirked as well as she joined in on the fun. The fun that they enjoyed, and they knew that Katie didn't, but they didn't care. All they cared about was that she would help them please their wishes and desires. If it meant weakening Katie until she was no more, it was worth it all for them.
It was quiet, which wasn't something they were used to when it came to Katie. She fought sometimes, but screamed other times. Other than that, she was never silent when things like this happened. They enjoyed it for awhile, but it started getting tiresome after some time. They started missing her screams, which reassured them that they were doing their job correctly. Though now that she couldn't scream, they wondered if doing this while she was passed out to care. Though they were enjoying it too much to actually care enough to stop.
"You almost done?" Her mother asked, looking at her husband dead in the eyes.
"I can do this all day."
"So can I, and we must for as long as possible. Whether she ends up dead or alive, no matter. We won't let her stop until we choose to stop."
He nodded and chuckled, "Exactly what I was thinking. Let us keep on going then. Don't stop until I tell you too, alright?"
She nodded and grinned, "I like that plan," she softly kissed him, and he returned the kiss. The kiss wasn't out of love, but they didn't seem to care. There was no love between them, yet they could act as if they got along so well. Katie's mother knew that it was because they had the same exact goal in life, which was to ruin Katie's life fade before their eyes.

Maggie was getting worried, "What should we do?"
"I hate doing this, but we might have to find a way to distract them, and break into her house somehow."
"We could go in jail, Nick! That's too dangerous! You know that!" She hissed.
"I know, but if they don't answer us again, what other choice do we have?"
Maggie went silent and sighed, "I'll think about it. Let's just knock on the door and ring the doorbell again. I just want to get this over with."
"So do I, Maggie," he sighed then looked back at her. "I'll knock this time."
She nodded, "Good idea."
Both of them walked up to the door, and Nick knocked on the door and rang the doorbell. He glared at the door as if it was an actual person, "We'll get her out of here, whether you like it or not."
Maggie nodded, "No one deserves to be in this sort of pain. I just can't believe she's had to live through this all of her life. I feel terrible for her. I wish we had done something sooner," Maggie was freaking out, pansing around the walkway until she felt a gentle hand touch her.
Nick looked at her in the eyes with his own soft eyes, "Look, Maggie. It's alright. At least we are here for her now, right?"
She sighed and looked down, "Yeah, I guess so, But-"
Nick silenced her by giving her a soft kiss on the lips. He smiled down at her, feeling his heart pound like a mad man, "Don't worry, we'll figure this out soon. Trust me."
Maggie blushed bright, and she hoped that Nick didn't see. She nodded, not fully focused on her surroundings like she had been a few minutes ago, "Mhm..."
Nick blushed red, clearing his throat and rubbing his neck at the same time, "S-Sorry, M-Maggie... I didn't mean to do that! It was an accident. I had no idea what I was thinking. I'm so sorry!"
Maggie blushed, after she finally realized what had happened. "O-Oh, um... Th-That's alright. I-It's not your fault," she played with her hair slightly, glancing at him every now and then.
The thing that helped relieve the awkward moment was the door finally opening after waiting for who knows how long. None of them were actually keeping track on what was happening, "What do you kids want? I told you that we don't want to buy anything from you! Why won't you leave us alone? I'll call the police on you, and they won't be hesitant on arresting you."
Nick smirked as he held out a recorder, "Are you sure about that, miss? I've gotten our conversation all on recording. It even caught the parts where we heard screaming. Is there something you aren't telling us, miss? We were worried that you wouldn't come back out, since you told us that you were going to think about it, yet there was screaming upstairs. Are you keeping someone hostage?"
Katie's mom tried to act all innocent, "No! Of course not!" She laughed nervously. "Why would you suspect anything like that to happen?"
"Like I said, we heard a scream-"
"You heard nothing! We would never do such a thing to our daughter! How dare you accuse us of such actions?" She gasped, "You heard nothing!"
"We heard everything. Bring your husband down here now, I bet there will be some friends that will want to see you."
She glared, "You teenagers are always stupid. I knew that you were up to something. Teenagers are always up to something! I'm warning you one last time, leave! Now!"
"No. We know you have someone hostage in there. We'll give you one last chance to come out peacefully, or I'll call the police."
She glared as she walked closer to them, "Do it, and we won't come out at all for you both! Our daughter just came home from the hospital. She's in pain from surgery. Is that bad to hear someone screaming when something so innocent happens in someone's day to day lives?"
He shook his head, "No, of course not-"
"Then get out of my sight!" Once again, she tried slamming the door on them, though Nick and Maggie both caught it this time.
Maggie sighed, "Alright. We believe you, but please. This is for a good cause. If you both don't do this, many people can possibly die and be affected by this. Do you really want that?"
"We don't care about others all that much, we usually only care about ourselves. Too many people have disappointed us, and we are not risking that again."
"This could affect you and your husband, miss. Is that something you want?" Maggie hoped that she was being persuasive.
The mother gasped, "Are you sure about this, young lady? That I could die if we don't do what you ask?"
She nodded, "Yes. If you catch what we are trying to prevent you will. I know it sounds harsh and cruel, but we live in a harsh and cruel reality."
She nodded in agreement for once, "That we do. I'll get my husband right away," she ran off faster than you could say flash.
Maggie wanted to scream from excitement, but used everything that she had in her to resist that urge in her gut. Once the door shut, she hugged Nick happily, "We're gonna get her back! It's working!" She blushed once more, letting go. "S-Sorry, N-Nick. I feel like I'm starting to become more clingy than normal, and I'm not sure why."
He chuckled softly, "It's alright. This is exciting, and hopefully this will end up working out if it keeps going this way. Though, I bet it will."
Maggie nodded and blushed, "Alright. I believe you. Thank you."
"For what?"
"For always being there with me and the others through thick and thin. You're amazing. I have always thought that you're amazing. You've been amazing," she blushed more. "I-I'm sorry... I don't know what I'm saying anymore. My mind is just racing, and I know that this isn't the time for this, but I just wanted to say that. Um," she laughed awkwardly. "Sorry."
He chuckled softly, "That's alright. I don't mind. We have time. All we are doing right now is waiting for them to return."

Katie's mother growled softly. She stormed into Katie's room, pulling her husband out of their daughter's room. She dragged him, pulling him by his arm, and forcing him to stop with code "let it rain". She knew he didn't want to stop, but she needed to tell him the news of what she had found out.
He growled softly, "What is it? What's so important that you would take me away from Katie?"
"Those teenagers we've seen earlier. They're still here, and they recorded everything. What I've said, and even Katie screaming."
"She's louder than we thought she was. If they are telling the truth, and they will call the police, then we will have to be careful. We will need to make sure that we keep Katie here. We cannot go outside in case they find us."
"They won't leave if we both don't come out. We don't really have a choice right now. It's now or never."
He sighed as he thought about it, "Alright. Fine. We'll just see what happens."
"What will we do with Katie?"
"Keep her here. She's not going anywhere."

Thomas waited for the right time to leave. He had been informed by Nick and Maggie that their plan was finally good to go. He was difficult to see them, but his hearing was perfectly clear. He looked back and forth at the door every now and then, hoping that this couple could come out as soon as possible. It was past midnight, and he was starting to get sleepy. He blinked constantly, even if his eyes were stinging. Don't fall asleep. Don't. Fall. Asleep.
He turned once more to see the door finally opening. He crouched down near the ground, ready to jump up and sprint into the house to grab Katie as quickly and quietly as possible. He held his breath, waiting for the conversation to start for his signal to be set off. He didn't want to mess up anything now. He listened in intently, waiting for his signal.
As he listened, he only had one person in mind: Katie.
"Don't take too much of our time, kids. We're busy as my wife has probably told you both. If any minute of precious time is wasted for nothing, this might not end well for all of you. Besides, it's very late. You should not have been doing this this late at night anyway."
Nick nodded, "Understood, sir. Here are some of the things that are listed for our sale today if you would like to take a look. "This was last minute; selling out to people at least," Nick explained. "There was an increase of people that caught this certain illness. Though there were many specific illnesses in this one illness."
Katie's father stopped him before he could explain any more, "Alright, kid. Like we said, don't waste our time. Get to the good stuff."
Nick nodded, "Of course, sir. This sale is for mental illnesses. The reason why it has increased so dramatically recently is because there have been more suicides than there have been ever, and we want to help stop that. So many people out there are giving up on everything, and leaving everyone they love behind. If you don't want that to happen, then please, consider searching through these items that you might enjoy."
This is my chance. Thomas sneaked into the house, as she quietly shut the door behind him, as it had been shut when the couple had entered into the outdoors. He stood up, feeling his legs sore from jumping up too quickly. He ran to see if he could find Katie, and where she was hiding, "Katie? Where are you?"
"Th-Thomas? I-Is that you?" A faint voice emerged from the distance. It sounded torn apart and used.
"Yes. Where are you?"
"I-In my room..." the voice breathed out as if death was upon her. "F-Follow my voice... I-I'll t-try to s-stay awake..."
"Alright, Katie. Don't worry. I'm going to get you out of here," Thomas started walking, and was slightly curious of how long she had been here with her parents doing whatever they planned on doing to her. He hoped that it wasn't that long. Though remembering when she had kind of talked about it, it sounded like the didn't stop for hours on end. He remembered how terrified she looked, and he had promised himself that that would never happen again. Since then, he broke his promise, and he felt terrible for that.
I can't focus on the past right now. I have to focus on the present. If I don't, it will be harder to get Katie out of this dump of a hole. I don't even care if this place is nicer than my house. It's still a dumb.
"Are you still awake, Katie?" He called out. He searched around the house, unsure of where she was hiding.
"Y-Yes... B-Barely... W-Where are you?" He heard her cough, and groan out in pain.
Thomas looked around, "In the hallway somewhere. Where are you? How do I get to your room?"
"Keep going straight for awhile. M-my r-room will be way b-back on the right. H-Hopefully th-this h-helps..."
"It does. Thanks, Katie."
"Y-You're welcome..."
He picked up the pace, not willing to waste anymore time than what he had already wasting, "I'm coming to help you, Katie. I promise."
