Chapter Six

Percy Jackson

The date went fucking amazing, and because of the shopping, we for back late. Which was fine. We to go straight to my cabin afterwards and of course, I invited him in.

We shared a smile, our hands finding one another. Tonight went better than I expected, and with the whole "date with Angel" covered it up perfectly.

It's kind of fun. Sneaking around. There's this like secret and it feels like you're important when you know about it.

There's a thrill to it, I guess. Makes me feel like a teenager, which I am. But it's rare that I ever feel like one.

We we're in the middle of just you know, making out, when somebody knocked on the door.

Both of us glared at the door because we we're having a good time, so he went and pretended to be sorting through the stuff we bought for everyone.

I fixed my hair super quick and answered the door. Where Grover and Annabeth were.

"Hey," I said. "What's up guys?"

"There's uh... A dilemma at the Big House." Grover explained to me. "You're kind of needed."

I sighed and the four of us headed to the Big House. Grover and Annabeth asked if the date went well. He said it did.

That's all that was said.

We got to the Big House, and you know, everyone is there. The Seven, Grover, Reyna, and Nico.

Leo and Jason are in chairs. Jason had a bloody nose and a bruised cheek. Leo was...

Leo looked like he went to hell and let everything down there beat him up. They were both knocked out.

"What...." I looked away for a second, not wanting problems within the council or our friends. I looked back. "why? Could they not just talk it out?"

"They tried." Frank filled me in on this whole situation. "They uh... Well I mean, they argued during dinner. Never really exactly figured out what it was about. And then later on Jason said some things in reference to Leo about somebody else and Leo heard and he went to talk with him and Jason called him a faggot, told him to man the hell up, and then he slapped him. And uh... Fists were thrown."

"And you didn't stop them?" I was having a really good night, I don't want to ruin it. And Nico had this idea that I don't think he liked. He wouldn't say it, though.

"We uh... They were outside." Piper explained that part. "Suddenly we heard somebody get shoved against the door and so we got outside and by then it was dangerous to get between them so we let them tire a little and um... Jason got a knock out punch and then he lost his balance and passed out."

I looked at my best friend and the girl everyone used to assume was just girlfriend.

"Did you guys see or do anything about this?"

"We uh... We were there when he found out," Annabeth told me, shrugging. "He was mad, we talked him down a bit. We watched him go to his cabin. He probably snuck through the back. He wasn't fucking around tonight. Jason uh... We still don't know what it was over, but he was about to say something and Leo wasn't having it and yeah. Neither of them would say."

I just sighed. I haven't had to deal with this in a while. People can sort out their own fights most of the time.

These two can't, I guess. I have to do it for them.

So I pulled Leo into what was my office, actually. I don't use it that often because I normally don't need to. He didn't even know I had a office.

"Why are we in Chiron office?" He must've been out of it still, because my office and Chiron's look nothing alike.

"This is my office," I corrected him, grabbing a little ambrosia and handing it to him. "drink."

He took a swing of it, and his body was still adjusting to it, you could tell.

"What... Why are we in your office?" Leo asked me as I sat down. It's late. I don't want to deal with this. I want to be in my room, cuddling with Nico. "Is this a council thing?"

"No," I corrected him, and he put down the glass. "This is about what happened while I was gone."

"While you were...?"

"Between you and Jason." I clarified and suddenly he realized what was going on. "If there's an issue that can't be settled between campers, it's my job to settle it. Your punishment and Jason's Punishment will be separate and to keep from another fight like this to happen again, I will talk with you guys separately. Until further notice, one of you are moving tables. That in order and I will tell Jason."

"You can't—"

"The hell I can't." I set this whole thing straight for him. "I have a job here, Leo, to protect Demigods. If I can't leave for a few hours without something like this happening, there will be consequences. The more you complain and insist it's not my place to do it, the worse it is for you. Now please, what happens in this room stays here. So what happened?"

Leo sighed.

"Jason came to me after lunch kind of in a bad mood." Leo explained it from the start. "After you know, we we're talking about Nico getting a date and he said something about a boyfriend rather than a girlfriend, Nico talked to him, I guess. Told him to like keep his mouth shut. I mean he was nice about it. But that was the idea."

"Okay." I remember Nico telling me about that tonight.

"So I asked him about it." So far, Leo was making sense. "And he went on and on until he told me that this was a load of bullshit because Nico's gay. I mean, no proof, this is all out of Jason and I don't want to assume."

Well fuck.

"I told him that he probably shouldn't be telling people," he explained, and shrugged for a moment. "I mean, when I wasn't out, I didn't want people to find out unless it was through me or somebody that I told it was okay for. And Nico didn't want that. So he said whatever, it's not a big deal, I'm bi, I can keep my mouth shut."

"Okay," I had a bad feeling about this, and I knew the bad feeling was true because it's why we're here. "So what? They told me you guys argued at dinner."

"Yeah!" Leo recalled that. "We got to dinner and uh... Sorry, the nectar just hit me. We started talking about the date last night and then of course Nico's date came up. Nothing bad, but Jason was being really quiet and kind of weird about it. So Frank asked him why he was being weird and he got all defensive saying that he didn't get it and I mean he almost outed Nico."

Well fuck, this can only get worse for everyone involved.

"So I told him that no, don't." The son of Hephaestus explained, sighing. "And he freaked out on me. He said that it wasn't a big deal and Nico and I are blowing it out of proportion. We never said Nico's name. But he insisted that we we're making it a bigger deal than it needed to be and he said that I don't have room to talk, Nico's never talked to me about it before."

I wanted to smash my head into a wall right about now.

"Which, you know, it just kind of set me off and pissed me off." Again, Leo sighed. He was probably feeling dumb. But at the same time he felt like he was right. "I didn't like hurt him. I just got Stern and pissy because if anyone, I am eligible to know what he's going through and I have reason to stop Jason from outing him. There's no way that's Nico's anywhere near ready to come out! So I told him that if he did it he would like crush Nico and Nico would probably kill him."

"Which is reasonable," I responded, trying to think through this. It was bad.

"And he tried to tell me that it's not my place and I don't get it and whatever bullshit, but I told him to sit down and shut up. So he did that." Leo finished explaining dinner. "And I had art with Frank afterwards and he asked about it. I just said that Jason knows a secret that's very crucial to somebody and that he was ready to throw it out there and I wasn't okay. That was all I told him. He said that he wouldn't ask but if he found out anything weird from Jason, he'd tell me."

I just held my breath for a minute because I knew what came next. It had to of been what happened afterwards.

"So I was hanging out with Grover and Annabeth when I got a call from him." Leo told me, shrugging. "he was weird about it. I'm not sure I breathed during the call. But he asked if Nico was on a date with a girl and I said yeah. And he said he was gay, sounding confused. And just... I mean, I knew the four of them were there. I got pissed off because Jason just fucking outs him like it's no big deal. And Annabeth and Grover talked me down for a while. I went back to my cabin. But Piper wanted to talk with me and before she could do, Jason stepped down and so we talked and then he slapped me and I got defensive and shit just happened. I didn't want to do whatever I did physically. I didn't initiate the fight, I swear."

By how terrified he looked, I decided to believe him. It's Leo, he wouldn't lie about this.

"It's okay, I believe you." I assured him and he relaxed a little. "Just uh... That's all that happened?"
