I stood in the bathroom staring at my reflection. My lips were still red from being burned and my eyes were red from crying. I was staring at myself in partial shock having thought some sleep would help. But I looked pale, I couldn't believe this was happening. I'd just found my mate, and I was about to loose them.
My heart hurt from the mere thought of it, I wouldn't be able to handle if Nathaniel got hurt anymore.
'Nathaniel?'
I paused bitting my lip before wincing and letting go.
'Nathaniel?'
My eyes watered as he didn't answer, could he hear me? That's how link's worked! It was like telepathy! He'd be able to hear me just fine...Unless he was unconscious, or worse.
I covered my mouth and leaned on the sink my legs shaking, I had to see him, I had to make sure he was ok.
'Nathaniel please this is important!'
When he didn't respond I felt like screaming. What was happening?
A knock on my bedroom door sounded, but I didn't move.
If it was Jacob again I wouldn't let him in. I don't care how he'd push I wouldn't let him into this room anymore.
"Moon?"
My eyes widened as I heard Jeanie's voice calling out to me from behind my bedroom door. Quickly, I dried my eyes, came out of the bathroom, and walked over to the door.
After cracking it open and looking out I sighed in relief, it was Jeanie.
"Whoa, you look awful." She frowned at me.
"I feel awful." I told her looking at my door.
"What happened?" She asked looking at my burned lips with a deeper frown.
I felt my eyes watering at the memory of yesterday and just shook my head holding in the tears.
"I-I don't want to talk about it." I gulped.
She seemed to understand and nodded.
"Well if you want some breakfast we can go into the kitchen and-"
"No thank you, I'll be fine. I have food in here." I explained making her look surprised.
"Oh, well, ok." She looked a bit awkward now not knowing what else to do.
I looked up at her.
"Can you do me a favor?" I asked and she tensed a little.
"Uh, I mean, that depends on the favor, but sure."
I looked up at her.
She had strawberry blonde hair with curls that reached below her shoulders and tan skin with freckles over her cheeks. I couldn't believe I hadn't recognized these traits before now.
"Just...make sure to get your brother out of here safely..ok?" I asked softly.
Now she looked stunned.
"M-My What? I-I don't..."
'Please.' I begged in my mind and in my heart.
She saw the way I was looking at her and sighed with an impressed smile.
"He'll be fine." She told me simply and I nodded.
"Thank you."
"I gotta go now." She told me closing a watch she had in her pants pocket I hadn't even noticed she had been holding.
She closed her eyes and I listened as well all too aware of the foot steps nearing the hall.
"Seems the Alpha's coming to visit you."
I hadn't meant to, but I shivered. Jeanie noticed and looked over at me with a concerned expression, then she set a hand on my shoulder.
"I'll do what I can to delay it, try and clean up a little. You really do look awful."
I forced a smile as she walked away before I slowly closed my door, and then my smile faded.
After today, I hoped to never see Jacob, ever, again.
