Chapter 5

Whispers rippled throughout the crowd, they were all talking about the prophecy no doubt. Then one voice spoke out, speaking a question.

"Chiron, why did you choose Camom for the quest? He doesn't even have fire manipulation!" He called. It was Lukas. Of course it was, he would do anything to bring Camom down. They were like arch enemies.

"Thank you for your concern Lukas. We chose Camom instead of anyone else because he was our closest bet. He can craft things better than most of the whole Hephaestus cabin. If the prophecy meant for a child of Hephaestus to go on the quest, than a good craftsmen should go." Chiron replied, evenly. I can tell Lukas was angry at that. Good, let him be. I hate his guts anyways.

"Now, all quest participants should be ready to go by tomorrow at seven o'clock in the morning. We'll leave at 7:30. Be ready." Chiron stated, then moving away, letting the night go on.

It was around fourty-five minutes before Camom spoke to me and Will. Before we were just watching the fire, not really talking all that much.

"I'm going to bed guys. I'm getting a small headache, probably from the yelling and loud noises. I'll see you guys in the morning." He declared. Will looked about ready to follow him and make sure he was alright, but Cam gave him a look like 'Not now, please'. Will complied to that.

Getting up, Camom said goodbye one more time before walking away, back towards his cabin. Percy, Annabeth, Will, and I went to bed in our respective cabins thirty minutes after Cam. I was tired, and needed my strength for the quest tomorrow. I changed into night clothes and got into bed. Pulling the covers around me I fell asleep within ten minutes. That night I had a dream.

I was in a black space. Like a black endless void. There was a small light, maybe a flashlight, about five meters away. Walking towards it, I realize it is not a flashlight, but a ball of light. It was a memory ball. They radiate light and contain memories. Memory balls also can convey messages. These messages can be conveyed when someone touches the ball.

I stared at the ball for a few seconds. There was nothing else to do but pick up the ball. I have a feeling I should, that it'll reveal something to me. But at the same time I'm wary of the ball, like it's going to tell me a bad message. A message that i'll probably try to forget. But, like I said before, there is nothing else to do. What can I do?

I make up my mind within a few seconds. I'm going to pick up the ball. I'm just hoping it'll tell me a happy message, not one that'll get me worried for the future. I already have to deal with a quest.

Moving closer to the ball, I reach out to touch it. My fingers were inches away from the memory ball now. I hesitate for a moment, my hand retracting a bit. Is this really the right thing to do? I answer my own question within a few seconds. Of course it is, what else is there to do. This might have something to do with the prophecy. With those last thoughts, I reach out towards the ball and touch it. It feels different than I expected, the ball has a cool smooth feeling. Like the surface of a tabletop. Steady, not bending, smooth, and cool.

The moment I touched the ball, though, my surroundings changed. They were now in a forest. A green forest with lush green trees, deep brown trunks and vibrant green bushes everywhere. They were of all different shades too. And I was just standing there, watching the scene. There were two girls. One had long straight blonde hair, with fair skin. The other had wavy light brown hair and a darker skin tone than her friend. They were running. From who, exactly? They ran right past me, through the forest. Then a man followed. He was wearing a black and white suit. He also had black sunglasses on. He ran towards the two girls, and into the forest. I was then changed to another location in the forest, watching the girls and man run. This kept happening. I had no idea who the girls or the man was. They just seemed to hate each other.

Then, at one point the girls hid inside a log, big enough for the both of them. The man ran straight past. They waited there for a while, then they got out. Their lips were moving, but I couldn't make out what they were saying. Their voices were coming in and out of focus.

"...to...River." The girl with the blonde hair stated.

"...have....our....survival, Stephine." The other said, the one with brown hair.

So, the girl with blonde hair was Stephine. The girl with brown hair hasn't revealed her name yet, or at least I haven't heard it. They seem to be going to a river? But they passed multiple rivers throughout their chase. Wait... Their chase. The man, he's right behind a tree near the girls. He then got out of his hiding spot and lunged at the girls. My vision then went black just as he would have knocked one of the girls out. Oh gods, why do I feel like I should be scared for those girls, like I should be helping them? Wait, their being hunted, of course I should be scared for them. I pondered those thought for a bit when a voice called out in my dream.

"Camom... Help him.... He needs it." Was all the voice said. Wait, what? Cam needs help? I yelled out, wanting a response but never getting one. I should have known, that's what dreams are. They give you information, but you need to decipher it for yourself.

"Camom!!!" I yelled. I woke up in that instant, shooting up straight in my bed. I looked at the clock, it was 6:10. I have forty minutes to get ready. But, first I need to find Camom. That was a dream, but a startling one. I have this nagging feeling like I should be doing something, but I don't know what.

Getting out of bed, I change and race over towards the Hephaestus cabin. I decide to go in from the back of the cabin. Camom usually sleeps near the back door. Walking over to the back of the cabin, I look inside. No Camom. Where is he? There is no one outside of their cabins, well except for me. I guess I should go to the front of the cabin and ask Nyssa. She usually opens the door. I do so and, like expected, Nyssa opens the door.

"What Nico? It's really early." She sighs. Oh yea, it's earlier than usual.

"I just was wondering if you seen Camom. I want to make sure he's ready." I reply, deciding to play it safe. I don't want anyone freaking out about my dream just yet.

"Sure Nico, I'll go look." Nyssa answers. She leaves the doorway and walks to the back of the cabin. I'm grateful that she's willing to help and look for Cam with me. I don't know what I would do without Nyssa helping.

Nyssa came back, but she looked more frantic. "I don....don't know where Ca.....Camom is..." She stutters. She's scared, her facial expression gives it away.

Yea I know... it's been over a month since the update. I went on vacation then I had other stuff to do and just never found time to write this book. But I'm back! And I'm hoping on finishing this book this summer! So yay? Honestly were just starting the storyline and it might take a while so.... finishing it this summer might be unrealistic. So I'm going to start posting twice a week. It'll probably be Wednesday and Friday but maybe just two updates on Friday. And I'm rambling... I'll just end it here... Until next time!
