Chapter 32: Videl To The Rescue

VIDEL'S P.O.V

Today, Gohan was not present in our homeroom. His absence had drove Mr. Crayer nearly out of his mind.

He paces around the room multiple times muttering stuff to himself. Finally, he looks to Tania, who was busy studying her lines.

"Ms. Ayame! Where is your cousin?! Why has he missed school? The play will be starting in less than ten days!"

Tania sighs and answers, "Gohan's doing something very important. He told you that Ren and himself will be back in time for the play, so please relax."

"Relax?" The teacher comes walking up the stairs to where the girl is sitting, "YOU WANT ME TO RELAX?!"

Immediately, her face went blue.

"Err... "

"You need to chill, teach. If Gohan can't play the part, I'll just play it instead." Sharpner then winks at me.

"Yeah, like that'll ever happen." I reply.

Erasa leans back on her chair and crosses her feet atop the table while she placed her arms behind her head to give it support.

"Erasa, how many times must I have to tell you to get your feet off the table?" Crayer became annoyed.

The blond ignores him.

"Feet off NOW!"

Erasa gasps and falls over from fright. Many of the kids begin to laugh. I, on the other hand, ignore it and sigh.

I still had my mind on Gohan for some reason. It was like, ever since I found out he was Saiyaman, I began to feel some sort of attraction to him. Even back when I'd spend time with him during my flying lessons, I'd see him out of his nerdy clothes and into that blue gi that showed how great in shape he was.

I've gotten to talk to him and get to know him better. He's not a bad guy... at all.

I once more turn to Tania who resumed studying her script.

If I get closer to her, I can easily get closer to Gohan...

I bite on the the tip of my pencil and thought about what they had confessed to being not too long ago.

Those two hid their identities rather well... I can't believe they fooled me for quite some time.

"Videl?" My watch starts to receive a call, "Videl!"

Everyone's eyes turn to me as I answer the call.

"Yes, this is Videl. What's the emergency?"

"These crazy guys have a mother and her child tied up in some grocery store along with a few other hostages! Apparently, they won't let them free unless you challenge them to a fight." The police chief spoke through the other end.

"That's terrible! I'm on my way! What's the coordinates?" I push out of my chair and run straight to the door as I was given the directions.

Since I had been taught how to fly, I didn't need my jetcopter and instead just lifted my feet off the ground. When I eventually made it to my destination, I descende down from the sky, much to everyone's amazement and slam open the doors to the grocery store.

"All right! Who's causing all this mess?!" I crack my fists as everyone who was kept hostage inside cheered at my arrival.

"It's Videl!" They cry, "Videl's here to save us!"

"You better believe I am," I reply as I take a few steps forward, "Now where are these bad guys?"

"Try looking behind you, doll." The criminal appears behind me.

I jump back and get into a stance.

"I'll say this nicely: Please let these people go. Also, I know you're holding a mother and her child hostage somewhere else in this building. Let them go to and I promise I'll let you be put in handcuffs peacefully."

The criminal took out a knife and ran straight toward me.

"I'll have your blood dripping from this knife before you ever get me into jail!"

I flip over him just as he's about to stab me, swirl around and land a kick on his back. He fell straight to his stomach but quickly recovered.

"Lucky shot, little girl."

"Oh yeah?" I cross my arms and smirk, "How about you try attacking me again, tough guy."

Again, the guy runs straight toward me, but as I'm about to make my move, someone holds my arms up and wouldn't let go. When the guy approached me, I simply catch his arm with my feet, then used it to flip him over to his back pretty roughly.

After that, I swing myself forward and threw the big guy who was holding my arms up over me and slam him onto his back very roughly. He released his hold on me and I hurry to the thinner man with the knife and kick it out of his possession then proceeded to give the two men a good beating.

Upon witnessing this, the hostages go roaring in accolades and chanting my name. The police then came into the building, arrests the crooks, then frees the hostages as they all gather around me.

"You saved our lives!" One thanks me.

"What would we do without you?" Another speaks.

"You are just an angel." Someone else praises me.

"Oh, it was all nothing. Why don't you all go right on ahead and see your families outside. They must be worried sick about you all."

With that, the hostages storm outside to see their loved ones. The mother and child were also released and gathered around their family also. As always, I was thanked by the police and was allowed to head back to school.

This fight had made me realize something. I was stronger. I figured that my lessons with Gohan had somehow boost up my strength.

When I made it back to class, everyone cheered as always.

"That's our Videl!" Erasa claps.

"She's always kicking butt." Sharpner says.

I continue to get to my seat and try to calm everyone down with their praise and excitement. When I sit down, Tania quickly asks if I'm all right, which I do give a quick nod.

"This time Saiyaman didn't show up." I say out loud.

"Yeah, that loser hasn't shown up in a while, huh?" Sharpner quickly replies.

"Maybe he's out protecting a different city." Tania tells the guy, though I know she's just trying to cover for Gohan.

"Yeah... I guess." The jock agrees.

"Well, this'll all have to be discussed some other time," Mr. Crayer took out his script for the play from his podium, "For now, we get back to rereading our lines for the show."

He then looks to Sharpner and says, "I'll give you permission to read Gohan's lines for the day."

"What? I gotta read all that?"

"You offered to be the character, did you not?"

Sharpner rolls his eyes as it seemed that he had recalled the memory.

"All right, let's just get this over and done with."
