Chapter 2: Gohan's and Tania's Rising Conflicts

A week has passed since the first day of school. By now, everyone was beginning to get adjusted to their classes. I, on the other hand, was still trying to understand the way this school worked.

As of right now, I was in my sixth period, health, doodling in my notebook as the teacher was teaching. I was trying my best to focus, but something was bugging me for some odd reason.

"It's not like you to not pay attention, Tania." I hear Sharpner quietly say to me.

I didn't say anything and just kept drawing.

A beeping sound came from Videl's watch. She pushed a button on it.

"Come in; This is Videl." She says to the watch.

"Videl, there's a grocery store that is currently being robbed!" A voice spoke back. The whole class began listening.

"Are there anybody being held hostage?" Videl replies.

"Yes." The male voice answered quickly. "About twenty or thirty people are still inside. A few are just children."

"Children?! Alright, i'm on my way!" Videl stood out of her seat. "Mrs. Watoru, please excuse me."

"Of course, Videl. I appreciate your service to this city." Our health teacher responded with a nod.

Being given permission to be excused from class, Videl ran out of the door.

"What was that all about?" I speak aloud after the door closed.

A boy with light brown hair and glasses, who was sitting on the row in front of mine, turned his head towards me fast. I believed his name was... Jeremy?

"Don't you know that Videl is a crime fighter?"

I nodded my head. "Yes, I do. But what was with her watch talking to her?"

"I know it looks like a watch but it's actually a gadget." Erasa smiled. "The cops use it to communicate with her so that she can stop the bad guys. Cool, huh?"

"The cops rely on Videl to do their work?" Gohan joined in. "Isn't that dangerous?"

"You obviously don't know what Videl is capable of, man." Sharpner leaned back on his chair with his arms crossed behind his head. "Videl could beat up anybody; including me. They say that she might be as strong as her dad."

"As strong... as her dad?" Gohan looked a little concerned.

"No way, Sharpner! Hercule is way stronger than Videl. Remember, he's the one who destroyed Cell twice." The boy with the glasses disagreed.

"Whatever, Jeremy." Sharpner disconnected himself from the conversation.

Gohan was tapping his fingers on the table. I could tell that he was worrying for our friend's safety.

"Gohan." I call.

He stopped the tapping and met my eyes.

"Videl will be fine on her own. I've seen her take down tough big guys with guns before. She can handle things herself. Trust me." I reassure him.

The demi-saiyan slightly nodded then returned his attention to the lecture.

Okay...?

After being gone for nearly thirty minutes, Videl finally showed up to class with only a bandage around her index finger.

"Look who's back." Sharpner points at the girl with pigtails.

"Did you kick some bad guys butt?" Erasa asks wih excitement.

Videl sat down in her seat. "Of course I did. Those goons were no match for the world champion's daughter."

"You really... defeated them?" Gohan slanted his head.

"You make it sound like you thought I had no chance against those criminals." Videl cracked her knuckles.

"Did I? Oops, my bad. Sorry." Gohan apologies.

"Videl's so cool. Everyone knows that she was the most prettiest and popular girl in elementary and junior high school." Jeremy stated, proceeding to stare dreamily at Hercule's daughter.

Videl was the most prettiest and popular girl in both elementary and junior high? Well, I guess that's not surprising. She is really pretty and she's the daughter of the world champion. Of course she's number one.

"Dream on, lover boy. The answer is still no." Videl rejected Jeremy's sign of admiration.

Sharpner snickered. "Nice try, loser."

Jeremy frowned then moved his attention back to class.

"Hey you guys; why don't we hang out at my place today after school?" Erasa suggested with a wide grin. "We can just chill and talk in my room."

"I'm up for it, but who is all going?" Sharpner moved his long blonde hair off of his shoulders.

"Just us five: You, me, Videl, Gohan, and Tania."

"I don't know if i'll be able to go." I honestly reply. "As long as we don't get any homework from this class, i'm pretty sure I can go. Gohan?"

Gohan finished writing down the notes Mrs. Watoru displayed on the board then replied, "Sure. I'll go too."

"Awsome!" Erasa smiles. "What about you, Videl? You up for it?"

Videl twirled her pencil. "Hmmm, I guess it wouldn't hurt to go."

"Woohoo!" Erasa screams before hugging Videl tightly.

"ERASA!" Mrs. Watoru shouts from the front of the room. "YOU BETTER BE PAYING ATTENTION WHILE I TEACH!"

"Oh!" Erasa gasps as she released Videl. She then opened her textbook to a random page and took out a purple mechanical pencil. "I'm sorry. I'll listen, Mrs. Watoru."

Sharpner chuckled.

Oh Erasa...

Ten minutes later, Mrs. Watoru excused us from class.

"No homework today. Enjoy the rest of the day."

The students gathered their stuff and went to their own lockers.

"So Videl, why do you got a bandage around your finger? What happened out there?" Erasa opened the locker that was to my left.

Videl stuffed her things into the locker to my right. "Oh, this? I just barely managed to dodge a knife from one of the criminals."

"You gotta be more careful next time. It could've been a lot worse." I join in.

Videl grabbed her blue backpack and closed her locker. "Yeah, I know."

"Who's all ready to go?" Sharpner walked over to Videl, Erasa, and I.

Erasa closed her locker, throwing her bag over her shoulder. "We're still missing Gohan."

"Yeah, you're right. Where is he?" Videl examined the hallway.

"I'm here guys! Hold up!"

We whirled around and spotted a figure running over to us. As the figure came closer, we were able to discern who this person was.

"Gohan!" I wave after grabbing my backpack and shutting my green locker.

The fifteen-year-old(physically 16) stopped once he got to us.

"I... I'm here..." He panted heavily.

Is he... putting on an act? His locker is pretty far from mine but...

"Dude, you need to exercise more." Sharpner commented after hearing Gohan panting.

"Give him a break Sharpner. He may be wimpy, but he's a real hearthrob." Erasa winks at Gohan.

GOHAN'S P.O.V

After Erasa winked at me, I saw Tania slightly glare at her, but Erasa didn't seem to notice.

Why is Tania glaring at her like that?

"I don't know Erasa... Sure he's alright but i'm gonna go ahead and agree with Sharpner on this one." Videl crosses her arms.

"That's alright. I should exercise a bit more often." I laugh awkwardly.

Erasa shrugged. "Oh well..."

I flinched uncomfortably when the blonde went over to me and held onto my arm, resting her head on it with a smile spread across her face.

"Shall we get going everyone?" Erasa squeezed onto my arm tighter.

The sound of pencils breaking pierced through my ears. Across from me was Tania, who was now

clenching her fists tight. It was obvious that she was the one who snapped the ten pencils she was holding in her right hand in half.

I could feel a large lump in my throat. U-Uh oh...

Videl and Sharpner took note of the broken pencils but didn't say anything.

Erasa, being overly too excited, began to drag me down the hall with her head still placed on my left arm.

"Hurry along you guys! Mr. Cutie and I don't have all day you know!" Erasa rushed Tania, Sharpner, and Videl.

"H-Hold on, E-Erasa!" I stutter as I tried to gently remove her off of me.

"What is it, Gohan?"

"Don't you think you're moving a little too fast?" I rub the back of my head.

The young girl grinned even wider before gluing herself back onto my arm. I yelped after sensing Tania's ki rising high.

I... I don't even w-want to look be-behind me...

"You're so adorable! I know it's hard to stay calm while a pretty girl like me holds onto your arm like this. Don't be so shy Gohan, alright?" Erasa winked at me again.

As Tania's ki kept rising, I slowly looked over my shoulder afraid of what I was about to see.

A huge red dark aura was surrounding my girlfriend as she gave Erasa and I a death glare. One I hadn't seen since the day I met her when she thought I kidnapped her. Her fists were clenched even tighter and her hair was flowing in the air. I really was beginning to think that she was gonna go super saiyan!

Videl and Sharpner stared at Tania, blinking their eyes then looking over at Erasa and I then back at her.

I... I don't know w-what to do...

Sweat was dripping from my forehead as Tania's glare kept focused on me.

What's her problem? Is she jealous or something?

Erasa, seeing me getting very nervous, took it the wrong way and kissed my cheek. I shrieked and disconnected my arm away from hers, placing my hand on the cheek she kissed.

"E-Erasa?!" I was embarrassed.

She smiled as if she was innocent. "Yeah?"

Just then, Tania's ki spiked.

"GO...HAN...!" Tania groans, clearly angry.

I frozed in the position I was in and inched my eyes her direction.

I shrieked loudly again after witnessing the enlarged fiery flaming aura around her. Her hair was now pointing straight up and her eyes looked like it was staring dead straight into my soul. The sweat that was dripping down my forehead intensified.

Yep! She's jealous. Very jealous!

"L-Look at the t-time. I say we got a few more hours before sundown. I would like to get back home before then." I tell the blue-eyed girl, not losing eye contact with Tania while I began to tremble a little.

"He's right! Lets get going." Tania speaks with a low agitated voice. She started walking my path.

I swallowed the huge lump in my throat.

S-She's coming!

I closed my eyes, not wanting Tania to smack me on my head. However, all I hear is footsteps. I reopened my eyes to see that Tania, Erasa, Videl, and Sharpner were way ahead.

"Better hurry up Gohan, or we'll leave you behind." Videl says.

"Oh, r-right."

Once we finally got to Erasa's place, we all went into her room.

"Pretty!" Tania began shifting from one place to another quickly, admiring the fancy decorations in the room.

I gently dropped my yellow bag on the brown soft carpet then sat on one of the pink bean bags that was in Erasa's room.

Tania was still admiring the room as if she was in some type of palace. I always liked to watch her enjoy looking at things she liked. It brings me a peaceful feeling to know she's happy.

"You love staring at your cousin a lot." Sharpner notices my gazes towards Tania. He sat on a neighboring bean bag.

"I just don't see her act like this too often." I tell him.

"You think its cute. Am I right?" Videl enters into the small chat.

Not really thinking about what she asked, I answer, "Yeah... Very cute."

"That proves it!" Videl exclaimed.

I slightly jerked my head. "P-Prove what?"

"Tania's not your cousin!"

B-Busted!

"Come on, Videl. Just cause Gohan thinks that its cute that Tania stares at things she likes with admiration doesn't mean he can't be related to her. I have a cousin who does the same thing and I think it's... admirable." The long-hair boy backs me up.

"Yeah, but..." Videl was trying to think of something to say.

"Gohan, look at all these books!" Tania was holding large books in her arms. She sat down across from me and placed the stack on the ground.

"This one is all about space!" Tania gasps as she flipped through a book. "All the planets and stars are explained in better detail too!"

I picked up a book and read the title.

"Orthopedic coding guide." I began to flip through the pages. "I already know a lot about orthopedics but this book has more new information I didn't even know about!"

"Can we have these?" Tania and I ask Erasa at the same time.

Erasa, Videl, and Sharpner fell over.

"What a bunch of nerds." Sharpner comments.

"Don't leave out geeks either." Videl adds in.

Erasa was the first to recover. "I never read them. My grandma bought them for me in the hopes that I would, but i'm just not interested. Yuck! You guys can have them all."

Immediately, Tania began to stuff the books in her backpack.

Mom is gonna be beyond happy to see us reading all these books when we come home.

TANIA'S P.O.V

Two hours passed by since we came to Erasa's. Her mother had brought in food but Gohan and I tore through it like untamed wild animals. Sharpner and Erasa ate some food then got full. Videl only had eaten a few things before handing the rest of her food to me. Apparently she was on a strict diet.

I don't know how anyone can do that! Me? Nope! I gotta eat!

"I've been wondering..." Sharpner placed his hand on my shoulder. "Tania, you seeing anybody?"

"Yeah. I want to know too." Erasa closed the magazine she was reading.

"Err..." I trail off.

I want to say yes but I can't; they'll ask me who the person is. Everyone thinks Gohan and I are cousins.

"I thought so..." Sharpner chuckled. He then leaned in closer to me with a cocky smirk. "How 'bout it? Dinner with me tomorrow at 7?"

I blushed a little from embarrassment. "A date?"

Sharpner nodded.

"Get out of here! You haven't even known Tania for more than two weeks and already you're hitting on her?!" The blue-eyed teen girl scolded her male friend.

"Hmph, you're one to talk! Don't get me wrong babe, but I believe that little 'stunt' you tried to pull on Gohan was to get him to fall for you!" Sharpner retaliated.

Videl seemed to not care what was going on and continued flipping through channels on the television.

Sharpner grabbed onto my hand and kissed it. I saw Gohan appearing a bit angry and looked away from him.

"What do you say, sweetie? Is it a yes?"

"I hardly know you..." Was my nicest attempt of saying no.

Sharpner squeezed my hand tighter. Gohan's eyes were fixed at the blonde boy. His eyes were becoming a little dark and his mouth became a straight line. His brows furrowed in displeasure.

"That's why we should go out. Since Videl always says no to me, I might as well ask you then." Sharpner explains. He then looked at the pigtailed girl. "Hear that, Videl?! You can lose your chance at being with me."

"Thanks, but no thanks." She declines. "Maybe you'll get lucky with Tania. That is, if she's into players."

"Players? No thanks, i'm good." I decline immediately.

"D-Don't listen to her Tania! She's just jealous!" Sharpner pratically freaked out.

"I'm sorry, but I have to say no." I make my answer clear.

The long-haired boy was disappointed slightly, but that didn't stop him from bringing his lips to my hand.

Before he could make contact with it though, Gohan pretty much slapped his hand off of mine, surprising me.

"Argh!" Sharpner groaned, blowing on his hand. "Nerd Boy?!"

"She said no!" The demi-saiyan spoke in a annoyed aggravated voice.

My skin grew really warm. Gohan... You're...

"You're overprotective of your cousin?" Sharpner raised a brow.

Gohan, realizing that he made a scene, acted like I was his little sister and he was my big brother.

"Well, of course. I gotta watch over her. I'm the older one. To me, Tania's more than just my cousin. She's like a little sister."

"Little... sister...?" Videl smiled.

"Thank you, Gohan. You're such a good cousin." I say before hugging him.

"It was cute to see you get jealous." I whisper in his ear.

When I pulled away, I stood up and sat on the bed with Videl.

"Gohan looks embarrassed." Videl tells me.

She was right. Gohan was staring at the carpet with a pink tinge across his nose. So cute...

"I wish I had a camera." Erasa sighs. "Here we are all together and yet, we can't take a group photo."

"I have a camera we can use." I speak up. "It's in my backpack."

"Seriously?" Erasa claps her hands together.

I got off the bed and got the camera out of my backpack. Erasa ran over and snatched it.

"Yes!" She squealed. "Alright everyone, smile."

Gohan, Videl, and I smiled quickly.

"Erasa, what are you-" The camera snapped while Sharpner spoke.

Again, Erasa began taking more photos of us then joined in. The valley girl called her mother in.

"What is it, Erasa?" Erasa's mother, who looked just like her except with longer hair, asked.

Erasa handed her mother my camera and made everyone stand up by pulling on their arm.

"Oh, I see... Photos, right?" Erasa's mother lifted the camera up to her eyes.

Everyone stood side-by-side in this order: Videl, Gohan, me, Erasa, then Sharpner.

"CHEESE." Gohan, Erasa, and I say while Videl and Sharpner didn't say anything.

The light from the camera flashed.

"Good." Said Mrs. Shuzimay. She handed the camera back to Erasa and went out the room.

Suddenly, a very loud scream was heard from outside. Videl and I ran to the window.

My eyes widened after I saw a man shoot a little kid multiple times in the face. The witnesses fell onto their bottoms on the ground in shock. The man had on a black mask and clothes then began to run off carrying the gun with him.

"Murderer!" Videl yells. She opened the window and jumped out of it from the second floor. The crime fighter then began to chase the criminal.

I jumped out the window too, but didn't follow Videl. Instead, I ran over to the kid who was now lying on the sidewalk.

"Tania, hold up!" Gohan shouts as he followed behind me.

This is horrible! That child was defenseless!

When I reached the kid, he suddenly sat up, scratching his wild black hair. That's when I realized this boy was...

"Goten!" Gohan lifted his brother off the ground. "W-What happened?!"

Goten took the bullets out of his hair. "Owie! That hurts."

"Goten, what in the world are you doing here?" I ask with concern.

"Tania! Gohan!" Goten hugged his brother.

When Goten pulled back, blood slid down the side of his face.

Gohan and I gasped in horror.

"Who did this to you?!" Gohan had gone angry.

"I don't know." Goten answered. "He had on a black mask and dark clothing."

Gohan frowned. "That's... not enough information..."

"Gohan, follow Videl. She chased after that guy." I inform the hybrid. I then pointed in the direction she went.

"Yes. I'll do that." Gohan handed Goten to me. His fists curled and Gohan then gritted his teeth. "Nobody shoots my baby brother and gets away with it."

"Please watch Goten for me. Thanks for telling me which direction to go, Tania." Gohan then kissed me for a few seconds before running off.

"Please be careful Gohan!" I shout as I watched him take off. "Come back to me safe and sound!"

Gohan gave me a thumbs up then disappeared.

"Tania! Oh my goodness, are you okay?!" Erasa finally catches up to me along with Sharpner.

I ignored her question and continued looking at the direction Gohan disappeared too. The sun was beginning to set.

Don't get too careless Gohan... I love you.
