Part 4; Chapter 6 - A Sudden Rush of Memories
(I WAS SO DISTRACTED OVER THE FACT IT WAS ELAN'S BIRTHDAY YESTERDAY I FORGOT TO POST SORRY)
---
The small Steve watched the group nervously from the forest. One of them was alone. But how would they fully separate the odd looking person from the rest of the group without causing a scene? "Sh-shoot.." They whispered to themselves, their gloved hands almost clawing at the tree bark.
Then it came to them. There was a strategy they watched their father execute once. To avoid drawing attention to the main task they were attempting to complete, they could just cause a bigger distraction! But with the abilities the small Steve had, this posed a bigger problem. The problem of one of them to remember.
They sighed. Not like the odd beings weren't going to regain their memories anyway. Maybe they'd just make it a bit more... painful...

=Sabre's POV=
I stood on the top of the tree trunk, my eyes closed as the wind cooled my face. It was peaceful out. I smiled to myself as I spread my arms, some sense of euphoria washing over me. It was... it was peaceful. I chuckled to myself. Nightmare was gone, Elemental, sadly, was gone, all the other villains, Dark, Reverse, Infinity.. gone.
We were free. Free from all the pain and suffering from villains that plagued our lives. We didn't have to fight anymore. We might have struggles, yes, but the main part, the center of all our pain was over.
I jolted upon hearing a scream. "Natha- Guh-!" I was suddenly met with a fist to the face, a rough feeling of cloth meeting my nose as I turned. I gasped and made eye contact with a pair of bright red eyes as a black and white spiral lifted up above my attacker's head. I went to swing my arm at them, my hand forming into a fist as I blinked the forming tears of pain away.
There was a flash of light.
=Nathan's POV=
"I'm in the same boat as Sabre and Moose, guys.." I mumbled, "I think I'm a reincarnation." There was a short silence, before Moose's eyes lit up in excitement. "What kind of Steve were you!?" He immediately asked, only to be shushed by Shark. "Calm down, Moose. Let him talk about what he wants to."
I laughed quietly to myself, shaking my head. That's Shark for you, the big brother of the group. "It's okay, Shark," I told him, before directing my attention to Moose, "this tree stump belonged to a Green Steve, right? And you got your memories at the lab your old self used to live, riiiight?" I asked, feeling like playing a little game with him.
Moose furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, before a look of realization came across his face. "Ohhh! You're the Green Steve that lived here then!" He exclaimed. I chuckled and nodded. This was odd.. These were my memories, but.. it felt like they didn't belong to me.
I had earlier thought that if something like this were to happen to me, I'd feel like a different person. Like I'd act more like my past self. But I still felt like myself.. like Nathan. I felt some sort of comfort in that.
"Y'know, hypothetically, since I'm Professor Red, Sabre's Blue Steve, and Nathan's Green Steve, don't you think it only makes sense you were a Steve in your past life?" Moose asked, poking at Shark. Our friend only shook his head. "I don't think so, Moose. Like, what are the chances that all four of us are reincarnations? I'm just a normal Human." He stated.
"Well what are the chances you aren't a reincarnation, though?" Moose argued, "Like, three of us already are reincarnations. You're bound to be one too." "Why don't you two just keep believing what you believe, and we'll figure out eventually if Shark's a reincarnation or not. Cause if he is, he's going to remember eventually like us." I put in. "Besides, even though Sabre doesn't remember yet, He's confirmed to be Blue Steve."
Moose and Shark nodded. "I agree with Nathan on the memory part. If I remember, then I'll know if I'm a reincarnation or not. And there's no saying Sabre won't eventually remember." Shark stated, moving to stand. "...Speaking of, where is Sabre?"
Moose and I stood together. "I thought he went with you into the house?" Moose asked. "No, Only Rainbow, Galaxy and I went in. Sabre was on top of the tree stump." Shark replied. "Did he go inside while we weren't looking?" I asked, looking between the two. "Not sure, let's go see" Shark said, starting towards the house.
We followed and entered, spotting Rainbow and Galaxy arguing over... dusty bread. All I could do was sigh as Shark asked Rainbow if Sabre had come in.
"No.. I thought he was outside with you," Rainbow answered Shark, "besides, pretty sure he would've stopped us from arguing.. or joined it." Galaxy burst out laughing from this. I chuckled. Those were completely plausible options.
"Wait, but if he's not with you, and not with us, then where is he?" Shark asked. "He climbed up on top of the stump earlier, so would he be up there?" Moose mentioned. "Oh! Why didn't I think of that? Thanks, Moose." Shark replied, heading back out the door. Moose began to follow as I looked back to the two Steves in the kitchen. "You guys coming?" I asked, the two nodding and heading towards the door. I smiled to myself and followed in silence, only to be broken out of it with a yip as Moose screamed.
"SABRE'S GONE!!!"
