Part 1; Chapter 11 - The In-Between

(This chapter takes place during the events of Part 1; Chapter 10)

=Sabre's POV=

I opened my eyes to see a room full of portals. There were five in total, four Nether Portals, and an End portal beneath us. Elemental and I were standing on a stone platform. Elemental took me gently by the wrist, and led me off the platform.

I shrieked and pulled back, not wanting to fall into the portal beneath us, but Elemental stood above the portal, as if some invisible barrier was pushing him up. I slowly stepped on to the empty space, not wanting to fall into the inter-dimensional portal.

The barrier kept me up on my feet, almost as if I was walking on solid stone. I looked up at Elemental Steve, who was snickering at me. I huffed. "Please just bring me to Rainbow Steve." I said, adding the "please" as I didn't want to get on the Steve's bad side.

Elemental Steve nodded and put his hand on my back, leading me through a portal and to a hallway with even more portals. As he led me through, I glanced to the right and gasped. Plague Steve, Faceless, and Nightmare Steve were all trapped in tubes!

"Elemental Steve, you caught them!?" I exclaimed. He smirked. "Yes, yes I have." I stared at my former enemies. Their eyes were closed, and they seemed calm. I smiled at Elemental Steve. I trusted him now, definitely.

He glared at Faceless. "Faceless, step aside." He ordered. I looked at Faceless, who took a few steps back into the portal behind him. "Where'd he go?" I questioned.

"He's gone now. Not dead, but gone." He said. "I sent him outside of the timeline." Now this put a big smile on my face. "Can you do it to the others too?" I asked. Elemental Steve nodded. "Plague Steve, step aside."

I watched Plague Steve step back and into the portal. I was elated. "Now for Nightmare Steve?" I expected. Elemental Steve frowned at my previous tormentor. "Terribly sorry, Sabre, but Nightmare Steve shall stay." I blinked. "What? Why!? Aren't you supposed to be helping me?"

Elemental Steve shot a glare at me. "Say what you must, but I have plans for Nightmare Steve." He turned to the king. "Nightmare Steve, you may go."

A twisted grin formed on Nightmare Steve's face, a mischievous glint coming into his eyes as he looked directly at me. A chill went down my spine, and he disappeared.

I glanced at Elemental Steve worriedly. "You'll at least protect us from him, right?" I asked. He nodded. "Of course I will. Why wouldn't I?" I breathed a sigh of relief. "Thanks.."

Elemental Steve led me to another portal, and I followed him in. It was a cosy room with walls made of oak logs and a floor made of spruce. I looked at the bed, where Rainbow Steve was asleep! I ran over to him and shook him awake.

"Huh? Wha- AAAH!? GET AWAY FROM ME!!" He screamed. He punched me in the face and I yelped. I heard Elemental Steve laugh. "He still doesn't have his memories of you, Sabre. Rather.. other memories.

"Other memories?" I asked. He nodded. "I explained this to Rainbow Steve earlier, and it came to him as quite a shock. He wasn't very troubled, though, as he already knew his... past."

"What do you mean? His past is with me! He's my best friend and he's forgotten me for some reason.." I glanced at Rainbow Steve, who glanced warily at me.

"Well, my child-" "I'm not your child-" I interrupted. Elemental Steve sighed. "Well, Sabre, He had a past before he met you. When he was first created by the elders..."
