Moonkit slowly opened her eyes. She was in a stone cavern with a waterfall blocking the entrance. She glanced around in confusion.

"Are you awake now?" A cat materialized in front of her.

Moonkit gasped. The she-cat looked exactly like her, except that the she-cat was much bigger, and had stars in her pelt.

"Don't be scared, I'm your ally." The she-cat wrapped her black tail around the kit, "You're behind the waterfall now, I used to come here every day, Amberleaf, Lightcloud, and I used it as a secret base when I was still alive."

"Are you a Moonclan cat?"

"Yes..."

"Were you Mom's friend?"

Moonkit caught a flash of sadness in her eyes, "Yes. And it's time for you to go home. I will carry you out of the waterfall."

"Wait!" Moonkit yelled, "If you are a Moonclan cat, am I dead?"

"No, you are perfectly fine and alive."

"I have so many questions! If your Moonclan, can you see the future? Can you control the weather? Can you-"

The black she-cat picked her up by the scruff, "All you need to know now is this: Beware the gentle moonlight, for when light is lost, herbs will no longer heal, what started in blood will end in blood, and a new star will rise."

"One last question, what's your name?" Moonkit asked, "My name's Moonkit!"

"I do know your name, Moonkit." the she-cat mewed, "As for my name... You may call me Nightshine."
