Chapter 6.1

"Now. Finally I will have my new body" the voice slithered through the air like a venomous snake, ready to pounce. Steps echoed as the thing moved through the darkness.

"Yours?"

The figures head snapped around, his muscles tense, a daring grin on his face. "Yes, be a dear and come out" he purred.

A laugh shuddering through bones travelled through the air. The man looked up, curiousity mixed with cautiousness ins his eyes.

"Since your skin is purple, will your blood be purple as well?"

"Afraid not" the man answered calmly. An ominous feeling dreaded in his stomach. This voice was not the same as the one owning the body. The personality was even further away.

A cackling figure appeared from the shadows. A perfect image of the body he was about to take over, were it not for the abyss black that replaced her snow white eyes.

"Ooh, what pretty colours could spill in my own home! I could use it to paint the shadows!" the voice laughed, the girl disappearing into the shadows.

Long raven hair swayed as the man turned its head to face where he thinks the girl had gone off to. The purple marks stretching from the inner corner off his eyes stretched to halfway his nose rimpled as he frowned.

His hands moved with expert speed, performing signs the girl couldn't place, didn't try to place.

Snakes began to cover the ground and soon there was no clear space to stand on.

Cracking of bones and filled the air.

"They have such pretty colour inside".

The man smirked and unleashed the final hand sign. A pair of massive snakes rushed for the figure hidden in the dark and wrapped her into a strangling hold. "Enjoy while you can" he mused, finding it ridiculous he was even cautious about the odd character. Even if she wasn't her usual self, she was still the same, powerless girl.

The corners of her mouth spread up to her ears in an inhuman wide smile. "More" her voice shook the air. The snakes wrapping around her tightened, but she didn't even flinch.

A drop of sweat trickled down Orochimaru's temple, watching the girl carefully and keeping up the jutsu.

"More red!" the girl screamed. Portals opened and closed within the snakes body. With their last breath they hissed, their body cleanly cut in pieces. The girl giggled and put her hand through the gaping wound and pulled out the spinal cord of the snake. "So pretty" she purred, admiring the red droplets falling from the bones.

"This-"

Her head snapped up. "Your turn!" she squealed in ominous delight. The mighty sannin actually took a step back. This was no girl standing before him, this was a monster, a creature with no morals or purpose.

"Don't run" the voice whined behind him, having him jump away from the source.

"I said. Don't run" the voice snarled and a portal opened, revealing a hand passing through and stabbing the snake like man from the front.

Gritting his teeth he made hand signs. "This thing is not worth it" he hissed. A snake erupted from his mouth, the skin falling like dead weight as the reptile slithered through the cracks of the shadows.

"Don't run

you can't anyway"

the voice giggled as her figure fell apart, her shadows swallowing everything.

You shot up, your breath ragged as your eyes darted around. Panic filled every fibre of your body, your muscles trembled in anticipation of what was to come.

"(y/n)"

The darkness slowly crawled away from your vision. A worried eye appeared before you. You blinked a few times and tried to get your breathing under control.

Warm arms slowly circled you and pulled you towards a warmer body. Your eyes shot up, your breathing picking up speed again. He loosened his grip on you and instead ran his hand soothingly through your hair. "Ssh.. it's okay" he whispered, his voice still laced with sleep. Your eyes looked up, meeting his. Concentrating on the darkness of his irises, your body slowly calmed down.

With a last deep breath you leaned back against the headboard of the bed, instead of against the male that still had his arm draped over your shoulder. He stayed silent and took a seat next to you.

You stared at the wall in confusion. What had thrown you into such a frenzy? You strained your brain to recall whatever dream you had but nothing arrived. You reached up and rubbed your face with an agonised groan.

"Stupid" you scolded yourself.

Kakashi arched a brow at you. "Nightmare?" he questioned, deeming you approachable enough for questions. You turned to him and gave a solemn nod, "probably..".

Kakashi tugged at your shoulder and pulled close. The sound of his heartbeat calming your edgy nerves. He let you lay against his chest in silence, his fingers playing with strands of your hair.

"Have you told them yet?" you questioned, wanting to get your mind off stressing over something you didn't even remember.

"Who, and what?" Kakashi hummed, not loosing interest in your hair.

"The brats, the chuunin exam" you sighed, snuggling deeper into his toned chest.

"I was going to today".

"it's in a week" you grunted.

"I got permission today" he reasoned, "I don't want to put false hopes into them".

"Yeah, cause not knowing anything at all isn't horrible".

Kakashi stayed silent. "Thought so" you muttered, wrapping your arms around his torso, "I'm glad I got to train Sakura".

He stayed silent, waiting for you to elaborate on that statement. "The way she was in the beginning... sure she was skilled, raw talent at chakra control, but that is just a small part of the exam. You need experience in combat, and not just sparring, but intending to kill combat" you explained, slowly rising form his chest and rubbing the remaining sleep out of your eyes, "she may not be as good as the two gifted boys, but at least she can keep up with the lower class in the exam".

"I think she can reach higher than that" Kakashi said, sweeping his legs off the bed.

"You forget her infatuation with Sasuke and the fact that she is useless when she is nervous" you grunted, rolling off the bed and changing clothes.

"Point taken. Though, they are still young" he mused, dressing himself in his usual attire.

You chuckled at the thought, "I wonder how they will grow up" you hummed, wondering what they would lose and what would be gained. Kakashi nodded and trotted off to the kitchen for breakfast. You followed after him with the sweet outlook of food.

"Sensei you are late, again!"

"Sorry Sakura, a black cat crossed my path so I needed to take a detour" Kakashi answered sheepishly. Sakura puffed her cheeks and turned to you.

"He's a bad lair don't you think?" you mused, gaining an annoyed look from the silver haired jonin.

"Agreed" Sakura huffed, walking over to your side and looking up expectantly. She really looked forward to every training she had, since she could actually feel the difference from them. She was now able to sense 900 meters radius, which was quite the feat so young.

"Just wait a bit" you ruffled her hair and turned to Kakashi, "your actual sensei has some good news" you hummed. Sakura turned to her sensei with curious eyes, the boys followed her example.

Kakashi cleared his throat and handed each of them a form. Naruto was the first to squint at the paper and speak up, "Kakashi-sensei, what's this?"

"These are applications for the chuunin exam. However my recommendation does not force you to take it. You can decide if you want to take it or not" he explained calmly. You internally frowned at his way of wording things. This meant that they were each individually able to reject the chuunin exams on their own. This was not the actual case. A team needs to apply as a team. Individuals won't be let inside the exam.

"KAKASHI SENSEI I LOVE YOU!" Naruto squealed excitedly, hug tackling the Jonin.

"Oi, cut it out Naruto" Kakakashi stammered as he was swept around in the hug. You chuckled at the sight of the uneasiness of the Jonin. Naruto smiled broadly, letting the poor guy go.

"Only those who wish to partake, sign the form and after five days come at 5 PM to room 301" he elaborated, "that's all".

Naruto cheerfully chanted 'chuunin exam' over and over again. You glanced over to Sakura who looked slightly worried at the form. Striding over to the pink haired girl you gave a warm smile. "Let's coming five days are free for you guys. This way you have all the time to decide".

Sakura looked up at you with a forced smile, "thank you (y/n)-sensei".

You turned over to the boys, "same for you two".

Naruto stopped chanting and jumped in the air with a cheer. "Right sensei?" you mused looking at Kakashi. He kept his dry, stoic expression as he gave a nod. "Enjoy your free days" you smiled and made a hand sign before disappearing into a puff of smoke.

It wasn't much later that Kakashi appeared at your side in a puff of smoke. You glared up at the male. "Do you make habit of lying to your team?"

He arched a brow, but you kept glaring, demanding an explanation. He sighed resigned, turning to the way you walked. "If I had told the truth, the boys may pursue Sakura into something she doesn't feel ready for" he explained.

Your eyes widened slightly at that realisation. "If Sasuke had said she had to take it-"

"She would force herself to do so" Kakashi finished. A smile crept on your lips as you patted his broad back. "Not bad for a lazy sensei" you mused. He rolled his eyes and ruffled your hair. Your smile grew at his affection and you walked closer next to him. When his hand dropped at his side you intwinged your fingers with a goofy smile.

The fingerless gloves, that hid the tattoo, was a bit sturdy, but the warmth spreading from underneath them made it comfortable. "Do you think I can watch the exams?" you questioned.

"You? You would watch it even if it wasn't allowed" he retorted.

You chuckled, "true".

"So all three came".

"Did you expect anything else?"

You shook your head with a soft smile. "Not really" you said patting Kakashi's back. "Go put some final words into their hearts before they march off to their first test".

Kakashi chuckled and did just as you had told. He appeared before the three genin, explaining what he had done. They all looked offended at first, the fact that their sensei had lied did not sit well. But his reasoning made them smile. Sasuke and Sakura opened the doors and the three went in together. With a gentle smile you watched them go, sitting in the window sill. "They remind me of a certain team" you mused.

"Really?" Kakashi questioned.

You chuckled, waving him off. He probably didn't notice how much team seven was like his old team.

You followed Kakashi to the lounging room for the Jonin teachers. The Hokage had allowed you to follow Kakashi, given your affiliation with team 7 and the fact that you could use the situation to learn more. He probably kept in mind that someday it would be nice for you to have your own team as well.

"You recommended your team as well?" you eyed Kurenai with curiosity. She nodded with a smile, "are you here because of Kakashi's kids?"

You grinned and seated next to her. "Yes. How many recent graduates are participating?" you wondered out loud.

"9" it was a man with a cigarette in his mouth that answered. You looked at Kurenai for elaboration. "This is Asuma Sarutobi" she smiled, "he has the other team of newly graduated". You nodded slowly, eyeing the man and then Kurenai. "So he's related to Sarujii?" you questioned, not passing the same surname as the third hokage.

Warm laughter came from the smoking man, "yes".

"Did I say something strange?" you questioned looking up at Kakashi who was standing at your side. He shrugged, "not many dare to call the third Hokage anything that disrespectful" he mused. You shrugged. "Mi-chan is Mi-chan, and Sarujii is Sarujii" you stated.

Kurenai patted your back, "glad to have you completely back".

You smiled, "glad to be".

Kakashi took a seat next to you, as close as possible. You could feel the warmth radiating from his body. A small smile curled your lips as you leaned against him. Kurenai and Asuma eyed you two curiously but didn't say a thing.

"Ah (y/n)! Great to see you as well!"

Your eyes opened to see a disturbing bad fashion sense. This could only be one person. Your eyes travelled up to meet those bushy eyebrows. "Yeah, I wanted to see how my first student does" you mused.

Guy blinked in surprise, "you trained someone?! Who has had the honour of your expertise!" he asked excitedly.

You chuckled, "Sakura".

He paused, seeming to think over something before his smile broadened. "I'm sure she will do great! Though my team will still end up in top!" he boasted.

"We'll see".

You turned to Kakashi, grinning at his remark which was barely a whisper. "Hm-m" you hummed, resting your head on Kakashi's shoulder. Your body relaxed under his presence and without any worries you closed your eyes and watched what happened inside the exam hall.

The examiner walked in, a dreadful feeling filling your stomach. Ibiki, the interrogate specialist of Konoha. A kind man, sure, but one hell of a sadist. You felt bad for the people taking the exam, especially Sakura. She may be book smart, which seemed to be part of the test, but she wasn't that strongminded. At least not at a level to withstand his torturous methods. He did not necessarily torture you physically. Ibiki was able to creep up in your mind and pull the strings until everything falls apart.

After a while of watching the stressed out Genin you opened your eyes and turned back to the others. Guy was boasting about his team. Kurenai and Asuma didn't let him go over their heads because soon they started to praise their students as well. You glanced up at the bored looking Kakashi who just let it go.

Actions will speak louder than words. You werecertain they would pass not only the exams, but also the brats of the otherJonin. There was no reasoning that could support that conclusion, just afeeling.
