Chapter 3.4
"Sir, please don't be so loud". Vague sounds turned into clear spoken words. Your eyelids fluttered open as a male voice spoke. "Nonsense, after hearing my voice she will wake up in no time!"
"Sir that's not the poi- Ah, Miss (y/sn) how are you feeling?" a woman dressed in white turned to you, a gentle smile adorning her face.
"Sore" you grunted, a hoarse feeling following the spoken words.
The smile widened, "just a moment and then I will bring you something to eat and drink", she turned to look past you, "and you. Don't bother the patient! She just woke up" she snapped in the most quiet screaming voice you had ever heard. Your eyes turned to who she was scolding, wondering who it could be since Kakashi wasn't the loud type.
"Don't worry! I won't bother her one bit!" Might Guy exclaimed. He sat on the chair next to the bed. You rolled your eyes and turned to the nurse but she was already gone to fetch some food. "(y/n) it's great to see you awake again! How did you end up passed out in the middle of the training grounds?" he asked, his usual chirpy energetic atmosphere turning serious.
"You found me?" you asked, completely ignoring his question. He gave an affirmative nod and watched you expectantly, waiting for your answer. A sigh rolled over your lips, leaning dejected into the pillow. "I.... something weird happened that I barely understand myself. I doubt you will be able to" you huffed, glancing over to the proud Might Guy.
He blinked, expecting you to continue. Your groaned and closed your eyes.
"Try me" he challenged as you didn't continue. Your eyes opened and looked sceptically at the man. Maybe, in this mode, he wasn't as stupid as usual. At least, not as stupid as in your memories. Sitting up again you turned to him.
"I kind of teleported into the dimension of snake summons and barely made it back. In process of this 'fun' excursion I lost nearly all of my chakra" at the end you gasped as it came out in one breath. The guy looked in confusion until the words dawned upon him. "You used dimensional jutsu?" he questioned. "That's the thing. I didn't make any hand signs or tried to do a dimension hop".
"Dimension hop?"
"That's what Kuro calls it. Kuro is my summon" you explained. Guy seemed to think for a moment before a smile appeared. "At least you came out unscathed. If it happens again it will just be easier to get out since you now know what it is" he said reassuringly. Doubts at your experience seemed to fade. It hadn't come up to be scared of what might happen if your body suddenly decides to redo this fiasco. However, after hearing his words the sliver of nervousness about it was completely quenched. A smile formed on your lips. "Thanks Guy". He gave a thumbs up with a broad, blinking smile. "Any time!"
"Don't tell me he's been bothering you. I don't care if he is a Jonin. I will kick his ass!" the nurse exclaimed angrily. Your eyes drifted down from her angry eyes to the steaming soup on the plate. The scent of fresh bread violated your senses and your stomach growled in agreement. "Nah, he helped me" you chuckled, your eyes not leaving the food. The nurse smiled and walked up to you, placing the tray on your blanket covered lap.
Immediately you indulged yourself into the delicious tasting food. "When- When can I leave?" you questioned in-between bites. "As soon as you passed the usual procedures and finish signing some paperwork" you nodded before focussing back on the food. Realisation of hunger had only hit when the smell had entered your nose. It was a miracle you didn't snatch the tray out of the nurses hands.
"Let's go drink to celebrate your release!" Guy exclaimed. The nurse looked disapprovingly at the man but your eyes flickered up to meet his. "It is like what? 3 o'clock?" you frowned. He laughed, "diner included".
Looking suspiciously at the energetic man you couldn't help but think about any ulterior motives he could have. The chance of ulterior motives weighted against free drinks and food.
Free diner it is. "Sure, just let me walk a bit after I'm done here. Got to stretch up" you mused. Guy threw his fist in the air as if he had achieved an impossible task. Okay he definitely had some plan. But knowing him it wouldn't be anything you couldn't handle. From what you knew about him at least.
"Did Kakashi come by?" sudden realisation of not seeing him at all hit you. "He has been coming by every time he was free the past two days" Guy frowned, "he kept on mumbling stuff while holding your hand. I think he was possessed" he concluded. You rolled your eyes at his antics.
The tests at the hospital went smoothly. The chakra was not completely restored but now at least you could function again and probably do a few ninjutsu.
The paperwork was more of a drag than the tests, they took about half an hour since you insisted reading everything to the letter. Signing things could be annoyingly bonding, so better safe than sorry. "I think he will be alright" you mused, even though felt like he wasn't. Kakashi wasn't a guy who showed a lot of emotion or was easily thrown of his lazy pace of life. Surely he wouldn't be that distraught after knowing you weren't in life threatening danger... Right?
"So where are we going to eat?" you questioned, pushing the uncomfortable feeling away. "Something tells me you are in the mood for-" he held his chin and scrunched his thick eyebrows in deep thought for a moment until he pointed a finger in the air with a revelated expression, "Sushi!"
As soon as the word left his mouth your stomach growled in agreement. You glared down at the stupid thing before looking up with sparkling eyes. "How did you know?" you narrowed your eyes in suspicion. Guy laughed, "last time you had the power of youth and dragged me along! You can eat that any time, day or night!"
"You seriously HAVE to try it! It's amazing!"
"It's just sushi, it's the same everywhere" Ebisu groaned as he was dragged along by his arm. "Nonsense, if (y/n) says so it must be a place filled with youth!" Might Guy exclaimed while being dragged by your other arm. Laughing you dragged them through the busy market street. "Don't know about youth but it tastes hella good!"
You chuckled glancing up at guy. "I dragged you and Ebisu through the whole town only to discover it was closed" you mused. "Then the day after you dragged us once again and threatened to beat us if we didn't treat the 'lady' of the group" he smirked. "What's with the way you say lady? I was one hell of a lady!" you growled, playfully punching his side. His laughter was loud and obnoxious, yet it felt like a sound so familiar it was soothing. "A lady doesn't threaten men, they let men treat them right!" he grinned.
You rolled your eyes, "like men are able to come up with a way to treat ladies right".
"We can. The spirit of youth will guide our path and-"
"Yeah, yeah, I got it. The spirit of youth will make you a gentleman, now let's get sushi!" you chimed patting his shoulder. Guy gave his trademark smile and thumbs up. "I'll race you there!" he announced standing still in a position that could fire him off any second. You laughed, "fine, I'll humour you" you mirrored his position and when he yelled start you both dashed off.
"Your stamina is not nearly youthful enough! One such as young as you should have more!" Guy scolded. The only thing that came out of your mouth were hasty breaths and a few curse words. He should try lying in the hospital for nearly death because of chakra loss. Let's see how 'youthful' his stamina is.
"From today we will train together! Each morning like old times" he smiled patting your back harshly, causing you to topple over and glare at him. "Old... times? Did... we do... that?" you panted, the oxygen slowly refilling your systems while your heartrate gradually calmed down. "Why yes! Those were great mornings! You were one of few who kept up with my morning training! Of course it was a shame you didn't join me for the rest of the day" he said with light regret. You rolled your eyes, this guy was a trainaholic. Keeping up with that for a full day would destroy the body.
He held out a hand, with half a smile you took it and pulled yourself up. You glanced over to where you both stopped only for your eyes to sparkle with excitement. It was the sushi place of the memory and something told your taste buds they were going to go into heaven soon. You glanced over to Guy, "all I can eat?"
"And drink" he grinned proudly. With a shriek of joy you entered the establishment and took a seat at a non-reserved table. Guy took a seat opposite of you and gave you the menu while holding one of his own. Your eyes scanned through the dishes, a smile slowly stretching over your lips as memories of tastes flooded your mind.
The waiter arrived with a shock look on his face. "(y/n)?"
You looked up and smiled gently at the old man before the table with a notepad in his trembling hand. "Is it really- How did you come back?" he asked, his voice on verge of breaking. Again a guilty feeling ate at your insides. This man was probably really close to you but you can't seem to feel more than familiarity for the man.
"I..." a sad smile replaced to cheery one, "I lost my memories". His eyes widened and his hand covered his mouth in shock. "But I'm okay! I'm slowly regaining them and at least I'm back home!" you reassured the old man. His wrinkles deepened in a fatherly smile. "Just a moment" he said mysteriously as he disappeared through a curtain. You arched a brow looking at a smirking Guy. This time awaiting an explanation from him.
"He's old man Taishou. Since you loved the food here you came here a lot, even for snacks. He often gave you some extra's when you were short on cash" he chuckled, "from where I stood he looked like a father to you".
"A father..." a fond smile adorned your lips, your eyes lighting up looking at the bushy eyebrowed man. "Thanks for taking me here, Guy".
He laughed, "you are welcome".
Taishou appeared from the curtain, a grand tray in his hand and the biggest of smiles on his face. He placed the tray, full of all kinds of sushi in front of you. "To celebrate your rise of the death" his smile broadened, if that was even possible, "this is on the house! With a cup of wasabi of course" he winked at you before turning to tend to other customers. Your eyes sparkled with excitement as you looked from the plate, up to Guy and back to the plate. "What are you waiting for?" he laughed, "dig in!"
Taking that as a sign that he would order later you took the cup of wasabi in one hand and every piece going into your mouth had a thick layer of wasabi on it. You enjoyed the taste mixing with the spiciness of the green paste, while Guy looked slightly disturbed at your eating habit. When the old man came again Guy ordered a few dishes for himself and then a lot of extra dishes, which all sounded vaguely familiar. To top the order off he ordered a big bottle of sake and asked for wine as dessert.
Why he wanted you to drink, was still unclear but this was too great to reject.
Patting your filled belly with a satisfied sigh you sipped at the dessert wine. The moment the beverage touched your taste buds a warm feeling spread though your body. Not a lot was spoken at diner, mainly because you made food disappear within seconds and Guy cheered you on.
"Was it good?" Guy questioned as he himself had a small cup of coffee in his hand. You gave a definite nod, "amazing" you murmured. Your eyes lazily eyed the store. People gradually began to leave.
