Chapter One

Hermione's POV
Hermione fingered the Time Turner around her neck. There was no way they could do this - there was no way they could beat Voldemort.

Sirius was dead, Dumbledore was dead and she knew that they were all going to be dead soon too. Ron had tried to get a basilisk fang from the Chamber of Secrets, but they had all disappeared.

As much as she didn't want to, she had to put Dumbledore's plan into action. She was afraid though- she never thought she'd have to do this without him. She heaved a sigh. It was time.
"Harry," she called to them, noticing that they were passing by
"and Ron, there's something I need to tell you."

"What is it Hermy?" asked Ron. He smirked slightly at the mention of her nickname. "You can tell us anything."

She glared at him and his smile faded fast. She hated it when he called her that. It wasn't any of his business to go around giving her nicknames. It's not like they were dating or anything.

"Don't call me that Ron. Alright this is going to be hard to hear but, there's no way we can beat him and you know it."

Harry sighed, looking as if he was thinking that himself, but refused to believe it unless someone else said it for him. Hermione knew this look well. "It's hard to admit it but, you're right Hermione. There's no way we can beat him."

"Exactly," Hermione replied. "Which is why Dumbledore had a plan in case this ever happened."

"Well," mumbled Ron. "Aren't you two just full of sunshine."

"Shut up Ron," Harry whispered. "Hermione, what's the plan?" Hermione fidgeted nervously on the stairs.

"Back in third year when I got my Time Turner, after we rescued Sirius, Dumbledore called me to his office and told me to keep my Time Turner. I asked why and he told me..." She sucked in a breath. "He told me that if all else failed, if we couldn't beat Voldemort then we had to use my Time Turner to go back in time to when Voldemort was Tom Riddle, to before he created the Horcrux's and we were to try and turn him back from that path and get him to be good."

"Whoa," Ron breathed.

Harry looked at her, his green eyes wide. "Dumbledore really expected us to do that?" he asked. "That's really, really dangerous."

"I know Harry," "Hermione said. "That's... why Dumbledore said that not all of us should go."

She'd thought about this moment for years if it ever did happen. She knew that they all had to go, even if Dumbeldore said that they shouldn't.

"Hermy, you're not suggesting that you go all by yourself are you? Because I would never let you do do that." Ron sounded concerned.

Ugh. Ron was starting to frustrate her so much. He couldn't tell her what to do and she wished he would stop calling her that stupid nickname. He put his arm around her protectively.

"Ron stop it!" She said, shrugging off his arm. "You're not in charge of me and you're not my boyfriend." Hermione shouted at him, but she immediately regretted it. Not because it wasn't true but because of the hurt look on his face.

"I'm sorry Ron I didn't mean it like tha-"

"I get it, okay, you want me to stay." Ron murmured., tugging at his sleeves uncomfortably.

"No, Ron that's not what I want. Personally I think that we should all go." Hermione said.

Harry looked like he was having trouble taking this all in. "That's incredibly dangerous..." The boys looked nervous, but stubborn as always.

"Well then why don't we," Harry suggested. "Whoever stays here would die anyways."

Hermione had never thought of it like that before. And she supposed that if they didn't go, more people would die. Not just them.
"Good point," she admitted. "It's settled then. We'll all go."
